Hey, everyone! I just got back from a half day at school, so I can upload! Yay! Anyways, I'll just let you read it now! lol.
It All Started With A Text...
Chapter Five
After my reflections time, I got up off of my bed and walked over to my computer, turning it on. I logged into my facebook and checked my wall. I had a lot of messages, so I went through them one by one and started to reply.
When I got to the final one, I saw it was from the school's quarterback, Josh Reynolds.
Josh isn't some arrogant jock. He is really nice, smart, and funny. He's down to Earth and never bullies anyone.
His message was from the day I got hurt. I clicked on my chat, saw he was online, so I clicked his name and typed him a message.
Me: Hey Josh, what's up?
Josh: Not much. R u ok?
Me: Yeah, I'm fine. I just got a very minor concussion and they wanted to monitor me overnight.
Josh: That's good.
Me: Yup. Hey, how is footbal going? I'm pumped 4 the game on Friday!
Josh: lol. Yeah, I'm pumped 2, and football is going good. Ur lucky, u get to cheer and dance, while I just run and tackle people!
Me: lol. Nice
Josh: Yeah ikr. Hey, do u maybe wanna hang out on Saturday?
Me: Sure, sounds great. Wanna make plans tomorrow during math?
Josh: Yeah. C u tomorrow.
Me: Bye
I logged off of facebook, changed into my pajamas, and then fell asleep in my bed.
The next morning, I woke up to my alarm playing Usher in my ears again. I slapped it off and went to my closet and opened it.
I pulled out a pair of ripped Abercrombie jeans, a loose racerback top with multi-color splashes, and then a loose black shirt that was draping and cute. I pulled them on, jammed my feet into some black flip flops. I pulled my hair into a deep side part and brushed my bangs back and clipped them so they would stay off my face. Then I put on some simple mascara that made my eyes pop, and then I ran downstairs to the kitchen.
My mom set a plate full of eggs, toast and bacon in front of me, along with a cup of hot chocolate. I pushed my eggs around my plate, taking a couple of bites now and then. Then I took a couple sips of hot chocolate.
"Ready to go Mom?" I asked.
She glanced at my plate and frowned. "Aren't you going to eat anything else?"
"No, I'm going to grab a snack at school," I said, grabbing my backpack.
"Alright, let's go," she said, giving me a strange look. I smiled and then walked out to the car. We picked up Karla, and then we drove to school.
We walked in and started waving hello to people, and then we went to our lockers and grabbed our stuff. We walked to homeroom and sat down next to each other, talking.
"So, do you want to go to the skating rink on Sunday? It's open skate from one to four, so we can get a few other people to come, too," Karla said. "I looked this morning."
"Sure, sounds great. We've got rehearsal tomorrow for choir, and then at five we've got cheer practice. Then on Friday we've got the football game at seven. Good thing we're at home this week! And it's the playoffs." I said, laughing a little. "Oh, wait. Josh asked my out for Saturday. Maybe he can come skating!"
"Yeah, totally. We can go to the mall before, too." she replied. "And we can get-"
She was cut off my Mr. Yates walking into the room and clapping his hands sharply. We all shut up and focused on him and as he started to take attendance.
When homeroom was over, everyone filed out and went to their lockers. I grabbed my heavy math book and calculator, and then walked into my math class. We had a substitute, and she had no idea how to teach us our work, so she just let us have free time all hour. Josh and I made plans with Karla, and we all decided to go ice skating on Saturday. Karla was also bringing another guy named Parker that asked her out.
Right before the bell rang, the principal came on over the sound system. "Attention all cheerleaders and dance team members, please report to the gym. Do not bring your things. Go straight to the gym please. Thank you."
I stood up along with Karla and we walked to our lockers, threw our things in them, and then we met up with a few more girls and we all walked to the gym.
When we got there, our coaches were waiting for us with the other team members.
"Okay, for you that are on both teams, I want you guys to listen very carefully to this," Linda, our cheer coach, said loudly.
Kayla took over then. "Okay, as you know, we have our football At practices today, we'll decide on what dances for the dancers and the cheers."
We all nodded, and then we all went back to our classes. Science was boring; we just took notes and were assigned to do a few review questions for homework.
When the class was over, we went to choir. We worked on a couple of songs' singing, and then we ntalked about our concert, which is in a month.
It was pretty boring, so I was kind of happy when we went to History. We watched a movie about the Decleration and we have two more hours left of it!
When we got to lunch, I grabbed a hamburger and salad with an apple and juice, and then Karla and I looked around for a table. We found one with a couple of our friends; Sasha, Nicole, and Alicia.
We sat down with our trays and we started talking about the football game. By the time lunch was over, I was thoroughly and genuinely pumped for the game!
I walked to the gym and quickly changed into shorts and a tank top, adding some knee and wrist guards. Then I walked out to the gym with Karla and we started playing one on one basketball. When Ms. Rose came out and blew her whistle, I was already sweating.
"Get the nets out!" she said, smiling. We dragged them out, set them up, and then waited for further instructions.
"Okay, we are going to be doing some three-on-three, okay? So, form groups."
Me, Karla, and Sasha ran together and linked arms, grinning and laughing.
"Everyone set? Okay. So, I'll match the teams up, and everyone else can watch the four games going on. We will have ten-minute games."
Our group had to wait for the next round, so we all sat on the floor and watched the games.
After ten minutes, we rotated teams and we were up against a group of pretty good people. They served, and then the game got into full swing.
We lost, by two points. Then we kept rotating until the hour was up. We all changed, and then I went to my locker, and then English.
We worked on some literature book, and that's pretty much it. After I packed my bag up, I walked to the gym and changed into a sports bra and spandex. Then I pulled on my adage shoes and went to the gym.
Kayla was there, running through our dances quickly. When a few more people came out, she started stretching us out until everyone was ready to go.
"Okay, guys, let's discuss what dances we're going to do," she said, motioning for us to come closer.
We leaned forward. "Okay, we are going to do our hip hop dance five minutes before the game starts. Then we'll do our lyrical dance during halftime, and then two solos. Who would like to do their solo during the game? Whoever does it, will also have to perform it at the big arena if we do the championships. That's pressure, so I only want the people who won't back out."
I raised my hand, and so did Karla. "Okay, anyone else?"
Everyone else shook their heads no, eyes kind of wide with fear at the idea of performing in front of so many people.
"Okay, you two practice your solos tonight. A lot, okay?" she asked, eyebrows raised. We both nodded. Then we practiced our dances.
When practice was over, the cheerleaders just stayed in the gym and helped pull the mats out.
We went over what cheers we were doing, and then we practiced stunts.
I'm a flier. It is so much fun being thrown, but you also have to be very careful and land very precisely or you will fall.
After practice, my mom picked us up and we both went to my house for dinner and homework. When we were done with both, Karla walked home and I went to my room and weighed my self. 111 pounds. Lost 1 pound, yay!
Then I took a shower, put my hair in a bunch of mini braids, changed into my pajamas, and then I crawled under my covers and went to sleep.
