Journey to Regionals

Dad had the entire glee club come over before their big regional performance. He would order pizza for the entire group, including myself. I took a few pieces and began walking towards my room. I did not want to be there with the group, especially after sectionals, and it was also awkward. Only Finn and Puck are familiar to me, and I only get along with half of them.

"No one wants any pizza? All right, well, uh, let's get started. Thank you for coming to the first annual New Directions' Regionals' set list nominations party," I heard my dad say in the living room.

"What's the point, Mr. Schue? Coach Sylvester's one of the judges. She's going to crush us," Artie, I believe, said.

"Artie, you don't know that."

"Yes, we do. She told us at Cheerios practice," Santana said as she sat down.

"Yeah, she said, 'I'm going to crush Glee Club'," The Other Cheerio, Brittany, said.

"An entire freaking year. All that hard work for nothing," Puck raged. The entire club exclaimed in disbelief and sadness.

"I am sorry. I just really like you guys," Tina said. "Do you know how many Facebook friends I had prior to joining Glee Club? Two. My parents. Rachel was correct. I became special because I was a part of something special. I cannot believe it will all be over in a week."

"Wait," Finn began. "Who says it will be over?"

"Please. Do you think Puck and Santana will even acknowledge my existence once we are no longer in the Glee Club?" Mercedes stated this.

"She has a valid point," Puck agreed.

Rachel cried out, "Mr. Schuester? Do you think we could just... go around the room and talk about what we liked about Glee Club this year instead of nominating songs?" This was a bleak scene. If only they could keep going...

There's only almost less than two months left of school, and I'm looking forward to it. This year has been drugging on, and I just want it over. Just passing Austin in the hallways is very awkward enough. He has been acting less douchy, though, I can admit. He actually looks at me in the halls and doesn't avoid me like he did after the "incident." Vanessa is still being a bitch. She has become "popular," or at least she thinks she is, and she has her little "posse." I guess you could call them that. My grades have been slipping, but not in a failing kind of way. This whole year has had a toll on me. I just hope summer break is a good time to be free from it all.

It was regionals time, and the air was thick with nervousness and excitement. The New Directions were in the green room listening to Aural Intensity perform.

"A mashup of Olivia Newton-John and Josh Groban. Are you serious? "Someone tipped them off about the judges," Puck raged.

"We can not be distracted by what the other teams are doing, guys," Rachel said.

"We just have to stay focused and keep our heads in the game," Finn agreed.

"Even though we know we can't win," Santana asked. Then my dad walked in.

"Yes," he started. "If this is only about winning for you guys, then I owe you all an apology because I've failed you. And we should just all go home, because it means we've already lost. Besides, we have something that the other groups don't."

"What?" Artie asked.

"Finn's dancing. Right? Come on. Now let's get out there. We have got two minutes. Aural Intensity is almost done. Bring it in. Come on. Come on. Let's go, go, go, go, go and..." They placed their hands in the center. "...WHOA!" I cannot wait to be a part of this group next year.

They began performing a Journey medley. Songs I have heard almost my entire life thanks to my father. They were fantastic! I may or may not be biased in this regard.

After their performance, I began returning to the green room to meet them. All of a sudden, I heard a commotion. Quinn, the pregnant ex-cheerleader, was apparently in labor! They were all rushing to the hospital to take her. I simply stood next to Rachel.

"I am going to check out Vocal Adrenaline," she said, mostly to herself. I honestly did not know whether I should follow her or just stay where I was. It was an oddly perplexing moment for me.

Dad and the rest of the group, minus Quinn and Puck, arrived just in time for the awards. It was determined that they would eventually finish third. That meant the club had come to an end. So there will be no next year for me.

It was a few days after the heartbreaking loss at Regionals. Everything seemed to be duller than usual. I am assuming I am noticing more of Vanessa's nonsense as a result of it. Whatever, I will simply ignore her. When I got home, my father was beaming. Strange for someone who has just lost the club he has been working on all year.

"Great news, Sav," he exclaimed, beaming.

"What?" I inquired, concerned about his demeanor.

"Glee gets an additional year!" My mouth slightly opens.

"Excuse me, what?"

"That is right, Figgins changed his mind. This is incredible!" I still can not believe it... There is a possibility of happiness.
