Ava returns to her room, utterly defeated. She can't muster the courage to face Alex. She collapses onto the bed, tears streaming down her face as she removes her headpiece and jewelry.
"Ava," Alex says softly.
"Yes?" she replies, her voice barely a whisper.
"Even I don't want to do this, but I don't have any choice. This is what I was raised for. Because of this, I had a chance at living here; otherwise, I would've been thrown into the streets."
"I know," Ava responds, her voice trembling. "I know. It's just that I can't seem to mentally prepare myself, no matter how much I try. I knew all along that somehow things would lead to this. But seeing Leo's disinterest, I felt relieved. Just as I thought I was lucky, all this happens."
"I can't deny Mrs. Falcone's orders," Alex says, his tone resigned.
"Neither can I," Ava whispers.
"Why is it that we must sacrifice ourselves to have a decent life, while others don't have to do anything but be born? It's not fair, is it?"
"The world isn't fair, Ava. It's the choices we make that determine whether we survive or not. This was the choice you made, so let's just get it over with."
Ava sighs deeply. As the lights go off, both Ava and Alex, despite their desperation and unhappiness, accept the harsh reality of their situation. They agree to become vessels for the Falcone family's future heir, their spirits crushed by the weight of their sacrifices.
Ava sighs deeply, the weight of her fate settling heavily on her shoulders. As the lights dim, both she and Alex, trapped in the roles they were groomed for, succumb to the inexorable demands placed upon them.
They are mere pawns in the Falcone family's pursuit of an heir, stripped of agency and bound by the unforgiving dictates of duty. Despite their shared despair and the profound injustice of their situation, they have no choice but to resign themselves to their grim reality.
