A few weeks passed by.

Finals went better than expected.

We would only be getting our results after the holidays, so everyone was just about ready to go home and make their big vacation plans come to life. We all actually had plans.

Kyle was becoming part of the neighborhood back home and was actually doing quite well for himself. He and his father were now at peace for the first time since he fled to Mountain view. They had been at each others throats about the way he left and why he left but eventually he warmed up to the idea and accepted his son’s reality and decision.

Allen had been planning on going to Monaco for a big vacation. Truth be told I knew he was actually expanding the business. He could never stay away from work related issues. I was fine with whatever made him happiest though.

Danilo and Melinda decided to visit New York together and stay at his mom’s place. I remember they said something about touring the big apple and making big apple moves. I didn’t know exactly what that meant but I was happy that they were happy.

Rose and her mom planned to travel down to Miami where they had a beachfront holiday home. They wouldn’t go there often but thought it was about time they make use of the beautiful weather around this time of the year.

My siblings were going with them because they had grown quite attached to Rose’s mom. She wanted me to come with and spend my holidays with them but I couldn’t because my dad was set to be released a week after they left for Miami.

So while everybody went their separate ways to make the summer what they had been dreaming of, I went back to Mountain view and patiently waited for my dad’s return.

A week later while making some breakfast for myself I heard someone knocking on the door. I checked through the window and saw a police car parked by the street in front of our place. This was finally it. After 14 long years he was finally home. I unlocked the door and opened to find a police officer standing next to a short middle aged man. That short middle aged man was my dad.

“He’s back home now son. I think you two have some catching up to do", the officer said.

The moment had almost brought me to tears.

“We really do", I replied.

The police officer left him with me, got back in his car and drove off.

“Dad?”

“Don’t say a thing son, just come here.”

We embraced and both cried a little in the heat of the moment.

I had waited more than half my life for this moment. I wasn’t planning on letting go anytime soon.
