"If I were to be missing. Would you come find me?"
"Why would you ask me such a thing?" Xiao didn't take his eyes off of his plate of almond tofu, while he devoured it. And his cheeks became a little plump, and chubby.
"No reason." Xiwangmu chuckled as he raised an eyebrow, at her reaction.
Xiao couldn't understand this goddess he's become 'accustomed' to. It was accustomed to come visit her every day. Like his daily routine. Saving Liyue when danger calls, like always.
If he could just jump right into her mind, he would do so. It was annoying how she was unpredictable at most times.
"Wanna come to Dragonspine with me?" She suddenly spoke up.
Xiao slowly looked up at her. Snow. Yes. The snow. The snowy mountains, snowy flakes, snowy creatures—
"And why would I have to go to a cold place with subzero temperature?"
"You're not very willing today, are you? Well that's fine. I'll just head on by myself then." She got up.
'Wait, now?' Xiao thought to himself. He suddenly felt a need to keep watch, or she might get lost. But the environment is similar to her mountain. But no snow...
"Oh mighty vigilant Yaksha, please grace me with your presence. I have become lost of my surroundings. And cannot tell which is left, and which is right." She imitated some preacher. Some goddamn preacher. And Xiao cringed at that.
"What?" He growled almost.
"Just come to Dragonspine with me. It'll be fun."
"But it's cold."
"Are you weak to the cold?"
"No—"
"Then I don't see the problem." She smugly replied. And Xiao fought back a click of his tongue in irritation.
Lately, the more he spent time with her, the more annoying she's gotten. According to Xiao.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He actually followed her to Dragonspine.
There were lots of snow, and they tried to find a small camp site somewhere with heat to warm up first.
Xiwangmu had a blanket, and offered Xiao a warmer. But he declined. He was sleeveless for Archon's sake. And half of his back was exposed with his 'v-cut' design.
He sneezed. And still denied the warmth. You could see the goosebumps starting to form on his pale skin.
So Xiwangmu threw a blanket at him, and held out a soup. Vegetable soup that Ming made for the two. It was like a field trip for children.
"Do you regret coming to Dragonspine yet? If you do, I'd like to go back to Liyue." Xiao technically whined.
"Nope." She popped the 'p.' While snuggling into the blanket again. And Xiao did the same. He looked like a shivering cat in the cold. Well... they were in the cold.
"Besides. We're close to Mondstadt. I'd visit there first."
"I'm wasting my time here."
"Don't say that! I invited you. You should be grateful."
"What's so great about being in the cold?"
"Well you're sleeveless." She moved her eyes down to his arms that were covered with the blanket as of now.
"It's fine. It doesn't bother me."
"Alright. Then let's get a move on, and adventure a bit more then, shall we?"
Xiao grabbed her blanket to stop her from leaving. A way to say, 'No. I want to stay.' So she sat back down in a victorious smirk.
It was silent. A comfortable silence, as they warmed up. And only the sound of the crackling fire under the large cooking bowl filled the cave up.
"Ready?" She yanked off her blanket. And stood up.
"You don't have to ask me." Xiao still had his blanket wrapped around his small body, while Xiwangmu giggled at his appearance.
"Just keep the blanket on, you need it."
"No."
"...." She just a stared at him with disbelief, and Xiao's eyebrow twitched.
He's so stubborn. Why is he so stubborn?
"Xiao. You. Need. It."
"No. I. Don't." Xiao was being a child now.
Xiwangmu sighed. And grabbed the blanket, and wrapped him up like a small sushi roll to keep him warm.
He would've complained, but the blanket covered his mouth so his words were muffled. And he's got to admit, being warm in the cold is great.
Xiwangmu put her hands on her hips while laughing triumphantly in victory. Looking at her creation. Though he didn't look very happy. As an angry aura emitted off of him, and you could hear a growl erupting from
the sushi roll.
She pulled the top part of the blanket that was covering his mouth down. And let him talk.
"Get this off of me. Now." Angry Xiao was not a pretty sight. But he's still pretty when he's angry nevertheless, no complaints.
"Ordering me around now? I was just trying to keep you warm because you lack warmth, dear adeptus."
"Don't, 'dEaR aDePtUs', me. This is ridiculous. Why did I come here in the first place?" He mimicked her voice in a taunting way, and he tried to rip the blanket in half like Superman and his ripped shirts. (There is no Superman in Teyvat.)
"Because you care for me~" She cooed.
"I— I do NOT." His face slowly started turning red from the embarrassment and being put on the spotlight.
Xiao denies it, but he obviously cares. Why else would he come and visit her everyday? To tell the goddess she's stupid or an idiot like the tsundere he is? Oh, but of course he couldn't bring himself to call a goddess an idiot. That would be straight up rude. Considering she's like Rex Lapis' sister. But he would ignore her taunting most times, and accept the plate of almond tofu she makes.
"Sure, sure~ let's get on the move." She waved a hand to motion him forward. Then remembered his movements were limited due to the blanket wrapped around him. And he raised an eyebrow.
"Fine. I'll take it off." She slowly unwrapped him. And once it was all gone he sighed in relief. He was tired of her antics. But he could keep up with them.
"Where should we go first?" Xiwangmu put a hand on her chin wondering, and thinking of places to go to in a cold area like Dragonspine.
"Can't we just climb a mountain?" Xiao inferred, to her.
"But that's not exciting. Besides, you would probably just jump to the top, and move really fast like the quick rabbit you are."
Oh. And they aren't talking very formal like when they first met. Because they've grown close with each other obviously. In case you didn't understand the change.
"I am not a rabbit."
"You're right, you're a kitty."
"Stop calling me a kitty."
"Mm, no." She hummed and skipped into the snow.
It would always be, her teasing him. And him getting teased. Soon becoming upset. But despite all that, he enjoys her company. As well as she does enjoy his as well.
Being in a mountain, with really nothing there was boring to her, and a little lonely. And anything that isn't challenge is just the same. Ming is reserved, and only does what is told. Zhongli, is busy being brok— I mean. Being a person at the funeral parlor. And pretending to be dead. At the funeral parlor... Uh— anyway.
Xiwangmu and Xiao decided to just go around the whole place because they couldn't pick on what to do specifically.
They saw a lot of pyro seelies, and Xiao seemed intrigued by how warm they were, as they floated by. They passed by many cryo crystalflies. And they were indeed pretty. The bright blue color and the way they flew and glowed were like stars.
Xiwangmu just loves, and has a thing for stars. And can 'create' them. The powers she received were for protecting... people, and things that are... dear. To her.
An abyss mage laughed at the two for no apparent reason, and Xiao got upset about it, for no absolute reason either. And upon seeing the 'snowy creature,' he fought it. And won, of course. Leaving it to crumble and dust away.
A couple of hilichurl camps were set around the place. With fatui, and treasure hoarders everywhere.
If they were in Liyue and someone was getting ambushed by them, he would ambush them back. But currently no one was in trouble, so they ignored them. If they saw the two, and attack, they would fight them. That wouldn't be such a smart choice for the enemy because these two don't spare mercy when fighting.
Xiwangmu looked up at the huge snow mountain, that had a blue light emitting from the Barbatos statue. It was easy to spot.
When they walked into a cave, that was large on the inside. Specifically, Starglow Cavern. There were large spikes of ice that stabbed the
ground. One of them fell from the roof of the cave, and Xiao cut it in half with his polearm.
"I'm impressed." Xiwangmu slowly clapped.
"You don't take much effort to entertain, if you're impressed with such trivial things." Xiao responded. And Xiwangmu only smiled.
"That's cause it's you. Really, anything you do is entertaining to me." She nonchalantly told the yaksha. Who was taken aback by her words. Were they a compliment? Or were they just sarcasm?
Xiao is too busy saving Liyue's people. He rarely has time to rest. But he always has time for Xiwangmu. He just does. And he asks from time to time to himself, 'What's so fun to be with her. What's so fun to talk to her, when I could be killing demons?' It's always those kinds of questions. When it comes to his emotions, he goes in circles, and avoids the possible answer.
"Xiao. You're very kind."
A/N: I'd like to thank you for the 600+ reads! It makes me really happy to see people reading this! While I was coming up with a personality, and chapter ideas for this story, I was reading Xiao's storyline. And listening to his voice lines as well. And it made me really sad to hear about his past. So I decided to make Y/N a comfort character, and playful to give him a bit more love to him. (*'ω'*)
