I yawned as I rubbed at my eyes, trying not to place my head on the table. Why did we have to be here so early? I need my sleep. I closed my eyes for a brief second and when I opened them, there was a black exceed in front of me, smiling at me. He held his paw out and I took it.

"We haven't met before, but I'm Panther Lily. I've heard a lot about you, and I'm glad you've come back to Fairy Tail." He said, and I smiled at him.

"It's nice to meet you, Panther Lily. You're a cute little exceed, huh?" I claimed as I patted his head.

Immediately, he became flustered and I giggled. I heard footsteps and looked up to see a guy with long black hair, and metal studs along his face. He crossed his arms, a smile on his face.

"Lily, did she call you cute?" The guy asked and Panther Lily had a fierce look.

"Yes, but I am not cute, true warriors are not supposed to be cute." Panther Lily said, crossing his arms across his chest. I laughed and the guy sat down beside me.

"Aren't you Neva?" He asked me and I nodded. "I'm Gajeel, nice to meet you." He said and extended his hand for me to shake. I took it and he smiled at me, before looking over my shoulder and chuckling. "Seems like Pyro over there doesn't want me talking to you." Gajeel said as he motioned over to Natsu, who was looking over at us as Lucy talked his ear off.

I shrugged it off and looked over to see Gramps, along with Erza, Mira, and Guildarts standing on a stage. We gathered around the stage and a hush fell over the guild as Gramps opened his mouth.

"I know it's early that I called you guys here today, but I have a special announcement to make. The S-Class trials are going to be held soon, and it's time to announce who is going to be chosen to compete." Gramps started as he looked down at all of us. "Natsu," He started and Natsu flashed his famous grin, throwing a thumbs up.

"All right!" He cried.

"Gray," Gramps said and Gray put his fist in the air, happy that he had been chosen.

"Cana, Levy, and Elfman." He continued, and they smiled-except Cana. What was wrong with her?

"Juvia," Gramps called and Juvia's eyes widened, joy on her face. I smiled, happy for her. "Mest and Neva." He finished and my eyes widened. I was actually placed in the S-Class Trials? My thought process was interrupted when Makorov started talking.

"Each participant is allowed to team up with one partner, who should be a Fairy Tail Mage and a non S-Class Mage to aid him/her in battle." He said and I looked immediately over at Rose, smiling when she flew to me. I already found my partner.
