[tw: implied death]
You were lost. Lost in the forest at night. Afraid.
Why had Technoblade sent you out hunting at night? He knew there were monsters, but this... this was worse than monsters.
You could hear the crunch of footsteps in the snow behind you. They were gaining on you.
Your breath came in quick, short gasps, the cold air stinging down your throat and into your chest.
"Y/N..." The person behind you called. "You can't run forever..."
You had gotten lost in the woods near Technoblade's cabin, and now you were being chased by someone you had never wanted to see again. Your wound was somehow fresh and bleeding again, although you could have sworn it was healed.
You strained your ears against the howling wind. You couldn't hear footsteps behind you anymore.
You knew better than to stop or slow down. You just kept running.
Stumbling through the snow, tripping every once in a while, you ran until you came to a large stone mountain. There was no where you could go from here. You hoped the person chasing you had given up.
crunch
You whipped around.
"Hello Y/N"
A chill ran down your spine.
"I said you couldn't run forever..." The voice said from behind a perpetually smiling white mask. The man stepped nearer to you, and you pressed your back against the cold stone.
"I'm sorry everyone tried to kill you..." The netherite-clad man stepped closer still.
"But... then again... they did it for good reason, didn't they?" Malice filled his sickly sweet voice. You were shaking.
"I- I didn't kill, kill the pets..." You stuttered, your voice shaking with fear. You knew how dangerous Dream could be.
"I still love you, Y/N..." Dream reached toward you, resting one hand on your cheek. You wanted to pull away. You wanted to tell him to stop touching you.
But some instinct inside of you remembered how you used to feel and leaned into his touch.
You remembered how you and Dream used to be. Friends. Then... more than friends. You wanted to go back to how it used to be. You and Dream against the world. You had loved him... but now...
"Too bad I have to kill you..."
You saw the flash of enchanted netherite and felt an axe lodge itself in your neck, pain shooting through you. You saw blood.
You screamed.
You sat up shaking and soaked in sweat. You looked around in the darkness, disoriented and afraid. Where were you? Where were you?? In a house, you were in a house. It was dark in the house. Who's house? Technoblade's house. You were safe here in the dark of Technoblade's house, weren't you?
You hugged your knees to your chest and took a few shaky breaths, the adrenaline from your dream still flowed through your veins. It had been a dream, hadn't it?
You heard quick footsteps and you flinched, trying to hide yourself from whatever was coming for you in the dark. Wasn't a dream, wasn't a dream. Your mind panicked and you were cold with fear.
"Are you okay?" A deep voice whispered from the dark, much different from Dream's voice. As your eyes adjusted you saw the shadowy form of Technoblade emerging from the darkness. You strained your eyes trying to see him clearer. He wasn't wearing his cloak, and he had a pair of reading glasses on. He was wearing a soft-looking white shirt instead of his ruffled collar one.
"Is everything okay?" He asked again, stepping forward. You flinched involuntarily at his movements and he stopped. "I heard you scream, are you alright?" He sounded concerned. You stared up into his face, your eyes wide with fear. You wanted to answer him. You wanted to tell him you were fine and that he didn't need to worry. All you could do was stare up at him, eyes wild and afraid, while breathing heavily.
He cautiously stepped forward and sat beside you. You flinched again, slightly.
Technoblade looked at you, not saying anything. You met his eyes and shivered.
"Nightmare?" His voice dropped to an even quieter tone, and he leaned toward you ever so slightly. You nodded, and took in a particularly shaky breath.
"Do..." He said quietly, "...you want to talk about it?" He blinked at you. You tried to say something, but you were still very afraid.
"I was..." you managed to get out, taking a deep breath, "lost... in the woods..." Your breathing became faster as you recalled the terror you had experienced. "and..." You trailed off. You didn't want to say his name. You had loved him once, but he had turned on you, and you never wanted to talk about him again. "someone..." you said slowly, "was... trying to kill me..."
Technoblade looked at you sympathetically. "But you fought them off, right? You've gotten very good at fighting..." Technoblade complimented you.
You shook, reaching up to touch the area where the axe had hit you in the dream, although the feeling of the dream had begun to fade.
"Oh..." Technoblade scooted closer to you, and awkwardly wrapped one of his burly arms around your waist. You looked up at him, and he smiled softly down at you. "You're okay now..." He whispered, "You're safe." He turned toward you and wrapped his other arm around you, pulling you onto his chest. "I've got you." He hugged you tighter to his chest, resting his chin on your head.
You were suddenly aware that your cheeks were wet with tears. You sniffled, burying your head in his shirt, wrapping your arms around him in return.
"I've got you..." He repeated.
You were sobbing now, all your anxiety about everything flooding into you all at once. You were so afraid that Dream or someone else would find you, and kill you. What if you couldn't stop them? You didn't want to die.
All of your friends hated you now, everyone you had been close with.
Now you only had Phil and Ranboo. Technoblade? Did you have Technoblade? Did you consider him a friend? "I've got you..." His words replayed inside of your head.
He had you.
And you had him.
(Technoblade's POV)
TECHNOSUPPORT...OOOOH... TECHNOSIMP....technosoft...aww!...Technosupport!...
The voices crowed, but Technoblade ignored them.
Y/N was crying into his chest, and Techno really didn't know how to feel. He gently rubbed her back with his hand, trying to calm her down.
She seemed to have mostly calmed down, only letting out a sniffle every once in a while.
The voices kept teasing him about it, but he didn't care. He had seen the fear in Y/N's eyes, and knew she needed him. It was weird how she had hesitated on saying "someone". Did she have a certain person in mind? Who was the one trying to kill her in her nightmare?
Had it been him?
He had been up in his room at his desk, working on a few things, when he heard the scream from downstairs. He had come running, afraid something terrible had happened.
He had seen the way she flinched when she heard him, eyes searching frantically through the dark, wide and afraid. He realized that her eyes couldn't see in the dark as well as his, thanks to his Piglin blood. She was huddled hugging her knees, shaking.
The way she had shrunk back from him, the way she flinched when he moved closer. She was so afraid.
Technoblade wished he could help her. He wished he could take away whatever was scaring her and make her feel safe.
techcnosimp... wants to protect her... aww!!!...technosupport...
And he did! He wished he could kick himself for it. He couldn't believe that he actually had just thought that...
He didn't care about her! He didn't care about anyone!! He was not getting attached to this person. He had sworn against getting attached to people.
She would just betray him like everyone else anyway...
"How are you feeling?" Technoblade asked Y/N. No answer.
She had stopped crying, and was now breathing peacefully into his chest. Was she...asleep? Her breathing was even, like she was asleep, and she hadn't responded.
She had fallen asleep on him! What nerve...
AWWW...cuddling pog... technosoft :)
Techno growled softly at the voices, careful not to wake Y/N.
His mind wandered back to another time he held a small person in his arms.
His sister. His wonderful little sister.
He missed his sisters... Y/N reminded him a lot of them. He could barely remember his sisters. When he was very young, orphans had killed his parents, and from that moment on he had sworn revenge against all orphans. He had lived alone in the Nether with his sisters, but had gotten separated one day (probably by those same stupid orphans) and then had been found by Phil.
He had gone back to look for his sisters, but they had probably been killed. (Again, by those orphans, probably...)
Was Y/N an orphan? He didn't know...
But he would rather die than hurt her.
