Everywhere in the house except for the hallway and the bathroom were entirely up in flames, so Matt ran to the bathroom.

There he saw his wife on the floor, bleeding out with a bullet wound in her forehead.

Matt couldn't take it anymore. He sank to his knees, sobbing uncontrollably.

He heard the laughter again.

"Chris!" Matt shouted in between sobs.

"Leave me alone!"

Matt continued to sob until he fell to the floor, holding his face in his hands.

Chris slowly appeared in the doorway of the bathroom.

"You killed me."

"You let me die!"

Chris was holding a small, .32 caliber handgun in his right hand, the same one that had ended his life.

"I'm sorry!" Matt sobbed, looking up at Chris.

"I'll make it up to you!"

"Unless you can bring me back to life, you can't."

Matt looked at his wife's body, lying on the floor beside him. Jason and Chris' corpses lay beside her.

"Please, Chris, kill me! Kill me now! I can't stand living without them!"

"As you wish."

A bullet wound started to form in Chris' head as he aimed the gun directly at Matt's head. Matt closed his eyes, waiting to die. He was ready.

BANG

Matt woke up in bed and freaked out for a brief moment before he realized that it was all just a nightmare.

Matt sighed. He'd been having nightmares for three weeks now, ever since he had the nightmare about finding Stephanie on the bathroom floor. That nightmare was about his future, but these were about his past.

He knew that Steph hadn't meant to freak him out by appearing, or by showing him the vision of his future, but she had. She'd only made the nightmares worse, and Matt was starting to think of forcibly making them - and everything else - stop.

But then he remembered his wife's words;

" I can't lose you."

He had taken her words to heart and hadn't tried to hurt himself ever since she had said anything.

He couldn't end it, not now. He would see her again. He would.

But then he remembered something else that his wife had said;

"I promise, this is the last time you'll see me."

Matt had called the hospital first thing after this experience, and they said that she was alive. Still, Matt couldn't help but wonder what she meant by that.

But now, he truly was alone, apart from Jason and Skip. Steph and Chris were gone.

Ronnie hadn't even left the hospital since Steph was admitted, as he had promised Matt to keep an eye on her.

The hospital staff was nice enough to give Ronnie his own room, despite not requiring medical care, so he basically lived there now.

Matt had asked Jason if he wanted to go to the hospital to see Ronnie and Steph earlier that day, and Jason said that they could go the next day.

Matt was both eager and dreading going back to the hospital. He wasn't sure that he could see Steph like that again. But he had to. He couldn't leave his wife alone.

An impatient meow interrupted Matt's thoughts.

He looked down to see Skip at the foot of his bed.

"Hey, Skeep! You hungry?"

MEOW

"Guess so! Let's go get some food!"

Matt climbed out of bed, following Skip to the kitchen.

Skip pawed at Matt's pajama pants as Matt placed some food on a paper plate. He set it down, pet Skip, and watched his cat eat.

He smiled. He may not have Chris, he may not have Steph, but he had Skip. Skip would never give up on Matt, he knew that. In fact, Skip was the only reason that he was even alive. He had stopped him from committing suicide a week-and-a-half ago, comforting him in his darkest hour. When the cat had gotten lost two-and-a-half weeks ago, Matt was sure that he was gone. But, thanks to Jason, Mark, and Amy, Skip had been saved, and he repaid Matt by saving him.

He and Skip were the dream team.

He couldn't lose Skip.

Skip couldn't lose him.

They had saved each other.

Matt smiled as Skip finished eating.

Matt threw away Skip's empty plate and scooped the cat up in his arms.

"Ready to go to bed, Skeep?"

MEOW

Matt smiled as Skip appeared to answer his question.

"C'mon, Skeep." He cooed, carrying the cat to the bedroom, and placing him next to him, on Stephanie's side.

Skip purred as Matt cuddled with him, pulling the blankets on top of him.

"I could never lose you, Skip."

Soon, it was morning.

With his cat cuddling up to him, Matt had no more nightmares and woke to find Skip in the exact same place as last night.

"Morning, Skeep!"

Matt pet the cat for a moment, then got out of bed to get ready for the day ahead.

Jason was already awake.

"Morning, Matt."

"Morning, Jason! What time do we leave?"

"Woah, someone's in a good mood. I was thinking around noon."

Matt smiled even brighter.

"Sounds great!"

Matt skipped to the kitchen, thinking of the cat of the same name and the comfort that he had provided him last night.

"I'll make coffee!"

Matt entered the hospital and spotted Ronnie.

"Hey, Ronnie!"

"Hey, Matt. Jason."

"So, how is she?" Matt asked, his mood souring a bit when he remembered what they were there for.

"Fine, she's actually starting to recover."

Matt was overjoyed.

"Really?!"

"Yeah, doctors say that she was really lucky. The bullet hit her in such a way that she'll be comatose for a while, but can actually fully recover eventually."

"Really? Wow!"

Matt had devoted the last six years of his life to research and science, but even he couldn't believe that Steph could be alright.

A doctor appeared around the corner.

"Mr. Patrick? Mr. Parker? Is that you?"

"Yes, sir!" Matt answered, still in a good mood.

"Would you like to see Mrs. Patrick now?"

"Yes, please!"

"Right this way."

BANG

The doctor fell to the ground, dead.

Matt, Jason, and Ronnie whirled around and were shocked to see the same attacker that had injured Steph and killed Chris standing in the doorway.

"Hi, Matt. Miss me?"

"No. This can't be happening."

"Yes. It can."

"Is that-" Ronnie started.

"Yes."

"Sorry, as thrilling as this conversation is, I gotta cut this short. Gotta finish what I started."

He aimed the gun at Matt.

BANG

Jason had jerked the man's arm upward, causing him to shoot the ceiling.

"Jason! We can't beat him!"

"Yes, we can!"

Jason groaned as he was punched, and fell backward. There was no going back now.

Matt threw a punch, but his arm was grabbed.

Thinking quickly, Matt used his other hand to knock away the gun in the man's hand.

"You want a fist-fight? Fine."

He punched Matt in the jaw, knocking him onto the floor.

WHAM

Ronnie had entered the fight, and punched the man in the face, knocking him to his knees. He then turned and kicked the man in the face, knocking him backward.

Everyone regained their footing, and the trio surrounded the man.

Ronnie made the first move, swinging a punch at the man. His arm was grabbed, and he was thrown backward onto the ground. The man bolted for the door leading into the rest of the hospital and locked it just in time. Two doctors had arrived but were helpless to get inside.

Matt and Jason both appeared behind the man, grabbing him. He elbowed Jason in the face, then pinned Matt against the wall.

The man was soon grabbed and thrown into the wall next to Matt.

Ronnie swung a punch at him, but the man ducked, causing Ronnie to slam his fist into the wall. He then grabbed Ronnie around the waist, and swung him around, throwing him to the floor.

He elbowed Matt, sending him spiraling to the floor.

The man then turned around and attempted to punch Jason, but his arm was caught and slammed back into his face.

Matt knocked him off of his feet, and Ronnie delivered a spinning kick to his face.

The man was badly beaten up by now but didn't give up.

He elbowed Matt again, then shoved Ronnie out of the way.

Regaining his balance, the man threw a punch at Jason, but was blocked. Unfortunately, he followed up with the same spinning kick that Ronnie had used, knocking Jason down.

Ronnie threw a punch, but was grabbed and turned around, putting his back to the man's chest. Matt punched him in the side of the head, knocking him to the floor, but he managed to pull Ronnie with him.

Jason kicked the man's head, freeing Ronnie.

Ronnie pulled the man back up, and punched him, sending him into Jason's arms. Jason threw him to the floor, but he kept going, punching Jason and knocking him to the floor.

"Does this guy ever get tired?! Can we even knock him out?!" Ronnie yelled, swinging a punch at the man. He dodged, and punched Ronnie in the jaw.

"I don't think so." Matt said, kicking the man in the face, knocking him back.

Matt whipped out his phone to call 911, but he couldn't get a signal.

"Oh, yeah." The man said, grinning.

"I've been tampering with the cell towers."

He punched Matt, knocking him backward.

The man ran at Matt, but Matt punched him, knocking him towards Jason.

Jason kicked him back, towards Ronnie...and a window.

As soon as he was near enough, Ronnie grabbed the man, spun him around and threw him through the window.

SMASH

The man broke through the glass, and fell outside.

Everyone looked at each other for a moment.

"What the hell?" Matt said finally.

"Talk about coordination."

Ronnie rushed to look out the shattered window.

"He's gone." Ronnie said, looking shocked.

"Must have ran away."

"Guys." said Matt.

"We just beat the man. Not because police were coming, not because he was scared, but because we actually beat him."

After getting some medical treatment for their injuries, Matt, Ronnie, and Jason decided to head back to Matt's house.

Matt spotted Skip, and swept him into his arms.

"Guys, we are the dream team." Matt said, putting his arms on Jason and Ronnie's shoulders.

"Jason, Ronnie, Skip, and me."

"And the dream team can't lose a fight."
