Asahi's background

♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫

Asahi never had a good relationship with his parents. They had expected a handsome, brave, strong man who would go into the werewolf hunting business and make them money. Instead, they got an average looking (I'm sorry), a timid man whose dream it was to run a medical shop. Sure he was strong, but that's only because his parents had made him help his father with wood cutting and other jobs. It wasn't just the fact that he wasn't his parent's dream child. He had been openly gay for as long as he could remember. His parents despised him for that. They were homophobic and didn't see why he would choose a man over a pretty lady. Asahi didn't see why they hated him for liking someone of a different gender. Honestly, he hadn't found a man he liked anyway. He had tried a few relationships but none of them worked out. Asahi had given up the search. He had already travelled to another village to evade his parents and he didn't feel like travelling around villages looking for love was his thing. He saved up a bit of money while living in his home town and had saved up enough for a small, two-storied house in the new town. It was a quaint quiet place. Perfect to start up a business. You see, Asahi's dream ever since he had settled on the fact he would never find someone was to start up his own medical centre, selling medicines. He had a natural talent making remedies and medicine. It was the one and only thing his parents liked him for. He built a garden out the back of his house so he wouldn't have to go into the forest and when the plants finally grew he started his business. Asahi's business immediately bloomed. He was such a friendly guy despite first glance. People warmed up to him and even the other medical centres liked him. They would often buy stuff off him and he would buy the stuff he couldn't make. Even though all of this, Asahi felt lonely. He refused to have a roommate cause he didn't want them messing with his medicine. Due to this when he was having his downtime it was scarily quiet, minus the sounds of playing children outside. He would often talk or hum to himself to ease the silence.

"Can you hear, my heartbeat~?"

He sang in a small voice.

"Tired of feeling, never enough~".

"I, close my eyes and tell myself,"
"That my dre-"

A knock at the door stopped his performance. Asahi rushed to the door very embarrassed. He hated people hearing him sing. He opened the door and there stood his parents.

"Stopped looking so shocked and invite us in," said his mother in a snarky tone

"Gays are always disrespectful" His father tutted.

Asahi moved out of the way to let his parents in.

"Not too shabby son, not too shabby..." His father tutted again.

"What's with the tutting father?" Asahi asked.

"Well, I mean, I thought you would have found yourself a lovely woman by now." A silence filled the air.

"I'm ga-"
"Oh that's right, your GAY" he emphasised the word gay. He turned to Asahi and let out a smug smile.

"Now now honey, where are we staying. It would be rude of you to turn us down after travelling ALL the way here". His mother said in a buttery voice.

Asahi wanted to puke. "Leave now. I haven't invited you to stay and if all you're going to do is spite me, you might as well leave." (le gasp, our baby SASSED someone)

Asahi's parents stood there with their mouths agape. "THAT IS NOT HOW YO-" his father was cut off by his mother.

"Fine then, we shall leave, you mistake" she sent a cold glare in Asahi's direction.

They stormed out of his small flat. He heard them getting into their cart and the horse hooves galloping away. Asahi peeked out the window. They were gone. Asahi wanted to think that it was good they were gone. No more awful comments or the weight of failure on his shoulders. In reality, it hurt. He didn't want his parents to hate him. He didn't want to be a mistake. He wanted to make his parents proud. That night, Asahi cried. Silent tears falling down his face. Heaving as he struggled to control his breath. He laid under the blanket. He felt cold. He wanted the presence of someone even more now. It was more lonely than ever after that. His parents would often visit, but every time Asahi would turn them down. There was always that feeling of regret for that. They were his parents after all...

It had been a year since his parents had last visited him. He was in a better mental state now. Often going out to meet friends and talking to more people. His business was going even better than ever! That loneliness still lingered in the back of his mind. Barely ever showing itself. Until one day, he came face to face with a tiny werewolf.

I was listening to "History maker" while writing this and I thought that the lyrics total suited Asahi lol. Hope you enjoyed.
