FOR MITSUYA, IT WAS odd seeing Baji so out of it and sporting a small smile on his face just before a brawl. He would be usually excited, yelling around about how Toman was going to win or how he was going to beat up some little shits to a pulp.
This time, however, Baji was too silent for comfort. Chifuyu seemed fine, so it probably wasn't something that had happened at their school. Or maybe it was something that only happened to Baji. But what could have possibly happened to put Baji out of all people in such a deep thought?
''Oi, Chifuyu,'' Mitsuya spoke as he stood next to him, causing the younger boy to hum in acknowledgement. ''What's got Baji so quiet.''
Chifuyu looked over to his captain for a moment, noticing that he was, indeed, quiet. ''Don't know. Ask him yourself.''
It was weird that Chifuyu didn't know, as he usually knew every little thing that was happening in Baji's life, down to the times he shits. That made Mitsuya even more curious.
''Baji?'' He looked up at the call of his name, seeing Mitsuya look at him with a quirked eyebrow and his hands in his pockets.
''What's up?'' Baji asked, straightening up and fixing his sash that had slightly slid down his shoulder.
''Why so quiet?''
Baji stood still for a moment, his eyes trailing to the ground. ''I didn't even realize. Had something on my mind.
It took a moment, but an idea hit Mitsuya, causing him to smirk. ''Hm, could it be that you met someone?''
''Pft, nah, it's not like that. I was just thinking of this one girl from my school I had to help find some rice at the store yesterday. It was funny how frustrated she was.''
Mitsuya could not believe how thick his friend was being, but he didn't comment on it. Maybe he was going to figure it out himself. ''Was she cute?''
''I mean, yeah, I guess,'' Baji said, shrugging.
''Oi, you two, the brawl is about to start,'' Draken called out, catching Baji and Mistuya's attention, the two of them having stayed behind without realizing, when as captains, they had to be at the very front.
''Shit, coming!"

Baji leaned back in his chair once the dismiss bell rang, indicating the end of another class. Mondays sucked, Baji thought, and whoever thought otherwise should get their head checked.
The bandage under his eye felt quite uncomfortable, but due to getting a cut in the brawl the day before, he had to wear it so it heals. It didn't hurt, but for his mother's sake, he agreed to cover it. It was really itchy, though.
''Oi, Baji-san, did you do the maths homework?'' Chifuyu asked as he turned back to look at his friend.
Upon hearing the question, Baji grinned and brought his notebook out, opening it and giving it to Chifuyu. ''Here ya go!''
Chifuyu, surprised that Baji had bothered even looking at the homework, took a look at Baji's work and sweatdropped. ''Uh, Baji-san . . . you just copied the questions. You didn't find the solutions.''
A moment of silence followed. ''So that's what I forgot before the brawl yesterday.''
Sighing, Chifuyu took his own notebook and handed it to Baji. ''Copy before the teacher comes.''
Baji grinned and thanked his friend, quickly starting to scribble down the solutions without actually knowing what he was writing down or if Chifuyu's answers were correct - not that he cared, anyway, as long as he had the homework.
Y/n peaked in the 1-3 classroom, her eyes scanning the students for a girl that was in her club. The first thing her eyes spotted was, however, not the girl she was looking for, but rather a familiar dark haired boy.
That's the guy from the supermarket! He's a first year? He looks older than that, Y/n thought to herself before continuing to look for the girl, her eyes finally finding who she was looking for. ''Hey, Keiko-chan! Can you come for a moment?''
Baji looked up at the familiar voice and noticed Y/n standing at the door, waving over one of his classmates. As the two disappeared from sight, Baji's ears concentrated on the boys sitting behind him, who had started talking once again.
''God, L/n looks even hotter today.''
''Yeah, ya think she's a top or a bottom?''
''Probably a bottom. Can you imagine those boobs moving, too?''
Chifuyu noticed his friend had stopped writing and was now slightly looking over his shoulder. He, too, listened in on the three's conversation and his eyes trailed down to Baji's fists, noticing how hard he was gripping his pencil. ''Baji-san?''
''Can y'all shut the fuck up?'' Baji asked, turning around to face the three.
One of the guys smirked. ''Oh? Why so worked up, Baji-kun? She your girlfriend or something?''
''You're being nasty, that's what,'' Baji enlightened them.
''Ah, I get it,'' another one of the boys smirked. ''Baji just wants all of that to himself. Am I wrong?''
The third one laughed. ''That's very selfish of you, Baji.''
''Baji-san . . .'' Chifuyu was pretty sure what was coming next and he wasn't sure if he should let his captain proceed or not.
Laughter errupted from the three boys, which was the last straw for Baji. Before any of them knew it, he turned around and threw his fist towards the closest boy sitting next to him, punching him square across the face so hard that he ended up flying to the side and falling on the ground. His eyes rolled to the back of his head and even if he was half-unconscious, Baji was prepared to throw another punch at him.
Gasps filled the room, though Baji was deaf to them.
Chifuyu, to prevent his friend from getting an even worse punishment, quickly stood up and wrapped his arms under Baji's armpits to restrain him. Baji was stronger than Chifuyu and he could've easily thrown off the blond, but he knew what Chifuyu meant with this - You proved your point, no need to do this at school.
Ah, man, his mother was going to be mad. But he did it for a good cause, right? Maybe the reason would calm her down. Hopefully.

''Y/n-san, did you hear what happened?''
By lunch, the majority of the school knew about the incident in class 1-3. Y/n was not one to pay attention to rumours and other people's conversations, so she seemed to have missed the news.
''No?'' Y/n said as she closed her notebook and leaned back in her chair. Keiko was sitting across from her at their club room. She didn't really care, but she was going to give the first-year a chance to talk. ''What happened?''
''There were these guys from my class talking about you and this other guy from my class punched one of them! I think his tooth fell out or something!"
Y/n sat there in silence for a moment, trying to process the words. ''Oh . . . uh, what?''
''Yeah! I walked in just as Baji-kun sent him flying! He looked so badass!''
Baji . . .? Ah. The guy from the supermarket. Again. Fuck, now I might actually owe him.
''What happened after?'' Y/n asked. It had something to do with her, so now she was interested.
''His friend restrained him from beating the guy up and I think he got a week suspension or something.''
Goddamit, I do actually owe him.
''Thanks for telling me, Keiko-chan.''
Keiko grinned. ''Of course! It was cool of him to stand up for you!''

Once club ended, Y/n rushed to get home and hopefully write something instead of stare at the blank paper for an hour. She, once again, held her notebook and pen as she walked down the street, though instead of thinking about ideas for the story, she was thinking of how she was supposed to approach Baji next time she sees him.
He's suspended for a week, what am I getting so worked up about? Y/n reminded herself, yet her mind wouldn't wander off to other thoughts.
''Come here, kitty, kitty . . .''
She stopped upon hearing the voice babying - she supposed - cats. Quirking an eyebrow, she took a few more steps forward until she made it to an alleyway, noticing someone crouching down and holding a pack of cat food, four cats standing around him and eagerly waiting.
You can't be for real . . .
Baji was suspended for a week for hitting someone and now he was crouching down in an alleyway and feeding cats. The duality of this guy, I swear.
Should she talk to him now? But he's feeding cats. But she had to thank him. I can thank him next week when he comes back. But he punched someone for her sake. Yeah, but-
''Oh, L/n?''
Y/n almost jumped out of her skin when she heard her name being called. Her internal fight had caused her to not realize Baji had taken a notice of her and approached her. ''Uh . . . Baji, right?''
Baji chuckled at her question. ''You do remember me, then!''
Rolling her eyes, Y/n continued. ''So, I heard you punched someone for me,'' she reminded him. ''Why?''
''They were being little bitches and annoying me,'' Baji said - he wasn't lying, but he wasn't telling the whole truth, either, Y/n could tell that much.
She looked him in the eyes, noticing the white bandage under his rigth eye. ''I didn't know the guy punched you back.''
Baji scrunched his eyebrows for a moment before his hand travelled to his cheek and touching the bandage. ''Oh, that's not from him. I had a brawl yesterday and the little scumbag punched me with a ring. He got off way worse, though.''
Brawl . . .?
''I see,'' Y/n said, even though she wasn't sure what to make out of his words. ''Anyway, I wanted to say thank you, even though it was unnecessary to stand up for me. It's not like I care.''
''They were being nasty, I had no choice,'' Baji said, shrugging his shoulders. ''Ma won't take it too well, but she'll probably feel better when I explain what happened. She won't be happy I'm missing on school again, though.''
The first thing Y/n was wondering was why he was telling her about his mother. The second was that she could maybe pay him back so she doesn't have to owe him anymore.
''Well,'' she started. I'm going to regret this, aren't I? ''I could tutor you for that week. I'm a second-year, so I've already learned what you're learning. You just gotta ask a friend to give me their notes so I can see what you're missing out on.''
Baji took a moment to considering. Should he decline and have his mom be disappointed in him when he didn't study, or should he have a pretty second-year tutor him and make his mother happy with catching up on the material he was going to miss? What was there even to think about?
''Yeah, sounds good,'' Baji nodded. ''You can come over to mine tomorrow or something and catch me up. My friend Chifuyu lives in the same building as me and we're in the same class so he can bring you over.''
Y/n cringed slightly, realizing she'd have to interact with another first-year. ''Fine, gimme your phone.''
Baji watched her extended hand as he took his phone out of his pocket and handed it to her. Y/n flipped it open and started typing her number in, quickly saving it with her last name before handing it back to Baji. ''Call me so I can save yours as well.'' A few seconds after Baji pressed the call button Y/n's phone rang and she declined the call before saving it.
Meows were suddenly heard and both teenagers turned around to look at the - now six - cats standing behind Baji and looking up at him with pleading eyes. Baji wondered what they wanted before realizing he had been holding the cat food the whole time.
''Fuck, sorry kitties, here.'' He bent down again and let them take the food from the bag.
The corner of Y/n's mouth turned up slightly before realizing she still wanted to go home. ''So, I'll just go home, then.''
''Yeah, see ya tomorrow, girlie!'' Baji spoke over his shoulder since he was still feeding the cats, casuing Y/n to snort and take a few steps back before she was out of sight.

Tapping her pen has started to really annoy her so she'd started bouncing her leg now when she came to a dead end with her story planning. How hard can it be to come up with one good idea? Too hard, according to Y/n.
Maybe I should try to come up with the characters, she thought. Maybe that would inspire me more.
Opening another page, Y/n wrote 'CHARACTERS' with a blue marker so it stands out more. Then, she wrote 'MC' and 'SECOND MC' next to each other, thinking what traits she could possibly give each of them.
Alright, let's start with the main character, Y/n thought. He, uh . . . he likes cats! Yeah, cats.
Cats reminded her of Baji and Baji reminded her about her suggestion to tutor him, which reminded her she had to go to Baji's house with that 'Chifuyu' boy from his class. She's going to be wasting even more time, it seemed.
Maybe it was time for a break and a trip to the store for some soda and chips.
