· Go to the Canva website 

· Sign into Canva, you can create an account or link it to other sites like Facebook and Google+.

· Click 'More...' and scroll down until you see options for E-books and Kindle. (note: If you have created any covers already you can access them at the start of this window if you scroll down) Update: as you can see there is now a Wattpad option. 

· You will start with options for default covers on the left of the screen. If you choose from these IMPORTANT check if it is labelled 'Free' or labelled as a cost by checking for this '$' symbol. It will appear at the bottom right of the picture.

· To start your book cover you can begin where you like. I prefer to start with the background first. (As a starter I've highlighted in the picture the options you have for backgrounds)

· Tip you can undo changes (short cuts CTRL+Z) or with 'Undo/redo' buttons at te top of the page

The next chapters will look at each of these background options
