How hard can I fall? [kananezu] - venus_tf
———3rd person POV———
Tanjiro was being carried on Inosuke's back as he ran to the butterfly mansion covered with blood. 'Just hold on Tanjiro!' Inosuke thought as he ran as fast as his limp body could run.
Nezuko was sleeping, regaining her energy on Tanjiro's back after the fight although she could be in the sun. She shrunk her size so that she could fit in the wooden box. Inosuke noticed the familiar garden as he approached the butterfly mansion. Inosuke limped into the butterfly mansion and yelled,
"HELP! WE NEED HELP!" Aoi ran over with some other butterfly girls after hearing the call for assistance.
"Tanjiro! He was badly hurt!" Inosuke yelled once more as he glanced back at the boy. Aoi gasped.
"OH MY GOD!" She yelled and checked to see if the bloody boy was still alive.
"He has a pulse but barely. Show Inosuke to a room and bring Tanjiro to one aswell. He needs help immediately," Aoi instructed sternly. She grabbed the box off of Tanjiro's back and Inosuke carried the boy into a room. 'This is horrible,' Aoi thought as she looked at Tanjiro. Inosuke dropped Tanjiro off in a room as many butterfly girls helped him to his own. All though Inosuke didn't like the thought of leaving Tanjiro alone, he didn't have the strength to fight back.
Aoi set Tanjiro's box down in his room before helping other girls with Tanjiro's wounds. 'These wounds are worse then we thought...' she thought. Kanao came running down the stairs when she heard Aoi screaming.
"Aoi is everything-" she cut herself off when she saw Tanjiro.
"Oh no," she said quietly.
"Go check up on the boar head boy in room 207," Aoi instructed and Kanao nodded. Before she left, she noticed a small wooden box in Tanjiro's room that caught her eye. Kanao walked into Inosuke's room to check up on him.
"How is he?" Kanao asked one of the four girls who are trying to calm him down.
"Where's Tanjiro?! Is he ok?" Inosuke asked worriedly.
"That's not important right now," a girl said trying to hold him down.
"Just let us heal you!" Another one shouted.
"What's all the commotion?" Shinobu asked as she appeared next to Kanao.
"Shinobu, this boy won't hold still!" A girl yelled in annoyance.
"Let me go see Tanjiro!" Inosuke yelled and he fought away from the girl's grip.
"Inosuke, am I right? Stay still or we won't help your friend," Shinobu said coldly. Inosuke could tell she was a hashira and stopped moving around.
"Don't you think that was a bit cold?" Kanao asked quietly.
"It's not true. Of course we would help the other one. It's just a reliable resource," Shinobu replied with a tiny smile and left. Kanao's mind wondered off to the box in Tanjiro's room and curiosity struck her. She really wanted to know what was inside. She walked over to Tanjiro's room where he was getting stitches and casts for his wounds.
"Hello Kanao," Aoi greeted as she finished up a stitch.
"Hello Aoi. How is he," Kanao asked.
"He's doing better, though he is still in terrible shape," Aoi answered sadly. Kanao nodded and looked over at the wooden box. The design on it was unique and odd.
"What's inside the box?" Kanao asked.
"Shinobu said we weren't allowed to open it," A girl with two braids answered. 'So Shinobu must know what's inside,' Kanao thought and nodded.
"Very well, thank you," Kanao replied and walked away. Kanao walked into Shinobu's room and saw her sitting on her bed talking to Mitsuri.
"Hello Kanao!" Mitsuri greeted happily.
"Hello Mitsuri. I hope I wasn't interrupting anything," Kanao answered. The two blushed and shook their heads saying 'no.'
"Shinobu, what's in that box in the hurt boys room?" Kanao asked.
"Oh. I'm sorry, I can't tell you Kanao," Shinobu answered with a tiny smile. Kanao nodded and left. She then thought of a good idea. 'I'll just ask boar head!' Kanao thought and walked to Inosuke's room.
"Excuse me," Kanao asked as she walked into the room. Inosuke glanced at her then put on his tough face to seem less weak.
"What do you need, pony tail?" Inosuke asked and crossed his arms. Kanao's eyebrow twitched in annoyance at the nickname, but let it go.
"What is inside the box in your hurt friends room?" She asked politely.
"I will only tell you if you take me to go see him," Inosuke replied.
"I'll ask if it's ok with Aoi," Kanao answered and walked away. She walked over to Tanjiro's room and asked Aoi if Inosuke can visit.
She replied, "No. He is in terrible condition and his friend will be sad to see him like this. Also, he shouldn't walk," Aoi answered as she gave the passed out Tanjiro some medicine. Kanao nodded in annoyance and walked out. 'Damn. I'll just find out later tonight when Aoi isn't there,' Kanao thought and went to tell Inosuke that he couldn't visit his friend.
———Kanao's POV———
Later that night, I walked through the almost too familiar hallway to go to Tanjiro's room. I opened the door as quietly as possible, only to find a silhouette of a person sitting on the side of the bed. The figure turned its face to look at Kanao.
"Oh it's just you," the voice said. I recognized the voice as Inosuke's.
"Inosuke?" I asked double checking.
"What?" He replied.
"Why are you here? Shouldn't you be resting?" I asked. Inosuke looked back at Tanjiro and sighed.
"I was just checking up on him. It's bad, isn't it?" Inosuke asked on the verge of tears. I pitied the boy and sat on the other side of the bed.
"Yes. It is. But he is getting better. Don't worry," I answered. There was a pause of silence in the room.
"Why are you here?" Inosuke finally asked.
"I was curious about the wooden box," I answered honestly.
"I can show you inside if you want. But don't freak out!" Inosuke offered. 'YES!' I thought.
"Sure," I answered calmly. Inosuke got up and limped over to the box. I went to the other side of the room and turned of the lights so I could get a better look at what's inside. I walked over to Inosuke and sat down in front of the box.
"If you so much as scratch the thing inside, Tanjiro will kill you," Inosuke warned. I nodded hesitantly.
"Put your sward on the bed so you can't use it," Inosuke instructed. 'Ok this is weird,' I thought as I placed my sward on the bed and sat back down. Inosuke sighed and opened the box. A girl came rolling out of it. I gasped as I saw a demon sitting in front of me.
'SHIT!' I thought as I crawled back a step. The demon untied her muzzle in the back and stretched.
"H- hello," she greeted Inosuke as he waved back, she then looked over at me a smiled. My eyes went wide as I got a better look at the girl.
"S... she's a demon..." I said quietly.
"Yes, she is, but she won't hurt you," Inosuke replied and sat down. The girl grew to her normal size as she walked over to me and sat down criss cross in front of me.
"What's your name?" The demon asked.
"I... I'm Kanao," I replied hesitantly.
"My name is Nezuko," Nezuko replied. (She doesn't struggle with English in this ff)
"It's nice to meet you," I said kindly and smiled back. Nezuko smiled and I felt something in my heart shift. 'Her smile... it's gorgeous,' I thought and blushed. Nezuko scooted closer and wrapped her arms around me in a hug. This only made me blush harder. I hugged her back and she shifted to lay her head on my lap.
"Wow. I've never seen her hug someone other then Tanjiro. She must really like you," Inosuke said.
"Are they... dating?" I asked with sadness in my voice. "Please say no. Please say no!' I thought eagerly. Inosuke laughed and replied,
"No. They are brother and sister." 'Thank god!' I thought in relief.
I sighed and replied, "good."
"Why..." Inosuke asked skeptically.
"No reason!" I replied quickly in embarrassment. Inosuke furrowed his eyebrows and looked back and forth at me and Tanjiro, hinting that I liked the boy. 'Wrong sibling,' I thought.
"Oh, I'm sorry! No, I don't like him," I said as I pet Nezuko's head. He un-furrowed his eye brows and nodded.
"Why? Do you like him?" I teased with a smirk. Inosuke blushed and put his hands up as he shook them.
"No way!" He answered. 'What a shitty lier,' I thought. I laughed and looked down at Nezuko, who looked up at me.
"Oh I get it," Inosuke said with a grin. I looked up at him with my head still facing Nezuko.
"Get what?" She asked innocently as she played with her hair.
"Yes. What?" I asked coldly.
"Nothing. Just the melody of Mitsuri playing through my ears," Inosuke replied. 'Mitsuri? The love hashira? OH MY GOD,'
"INOSUKE! YOU PIG!" I yelled loudly covered in blush.
"I'M A BOAR YOU CATERPILLAR!" Inosuke yelled back. As we bickered, we heard a groan come from the bed above. We stopped yelling and looked over to see Tanjiro slowly opening his eyes. Nezuko looked up and saw her brother awake and ran over.
"Tanjiro!" She yelled as she ran to hug him. He didn't move a muscle.
"Tanjiro your awake!" Inosuke exclaimed and he ran over to hug him as well.
"Inosuke?... Nezuko?" He asked faintly. I stood up and smiled at their reunion. 'I'm glad he's ok,' I thought.
"You guys... are ok?" Tanjiro asked quietly.
"We missed you!" Inosuke yelled once more and smiled.
"Thank goodness!" Nezuko exclaimed. Tanjiro weakly smiled but didn't move. Tanjiro suddenly began coughing blood and the two stepped away.
"Are you ok?" Inosuke asked and knelt down to his level. The sheets next to his mouth turned red. 'Shit!' I thought and walked over, shooing the two out of my way.
I knelt down as well and said, "Go, wake up Aoi in room 197. Go!" The two nodded and ran out. 'This isn't good if he is coughing blood,' I thought in worry. The two ran back in a minute later with Aoi. (Well, Inosuke limped.)
"Inosuke, go back to your room. Kanao, do you mind taking Nezuko and her box to your room so that I can help Tanjiro?" Aoi asked. I nodded and grabbed the wooden box.
"Shit," Aoi mumbled to herself causing Inosuke to shake in worry.
"I'm staying!" Inosuke demanded.
"You can't," Aoi replied as she called in some other girls to help. Aoi looked at Tanjiro who was barely conscious.
"Why not!" Inosuke yelled worriedly.
"Your friend is horribly hurt, and by the looks of it, maybe the weapons the demon used were poisoned," Inosuke looked worriedly at Tanjiro and frowned. Tanjiro used his last ounce of strength to smile softly and then passed out.
Nezuko looked sadly at her brother, but I grabbed her hand in reassurance. She looked over at me and smiled weakly. Inosuke walked out reluctantly to his room as me and Nezuko walked to my room.
"He'll be ok," I said and smiled softly. Nezuko looked down, but didn't say anything. I felt my heart break at the sight of her. I caressed my thumb on her hand as I opened the door to my room. I set her box down and sat her down on my bed. I sat down next to her and wrapped my arms around her.
"It will be ok Nezuko. I promise," I reassured. I heard her start to cry, which only made my heart break even more.
"I can't... loose him too," she mumbled and hugged me back. She began to sob on my shoulder as I held her tight. I told her that he will be ok, and that she should worry. After a couple minutes, she lifted her head of my shoulder and I whipped her tears with my thumb.
Nezuko smiled slightly and rested her face on my hand as I rubbed her cheek. I blushed slightly, but tried not to show it. I saw a dust of pink cross her face as well, but didn't think too much off it.
"Thank you," Nezuko thanked and smiled again. I began to blushed even harder as I nodded.
'How hard can I fall?' I asked myself sarcastically.
