After Emily's disaster of a date, she told JJ to come over because she needed someone to talk to. JJ came over within ten minutes, and the two had been talking for almost two hours. "He was the guy from the movie theater, JJ!" Emily said face blaming herself. "I can't believe I didn't recognize his voice."

"It was dark. Don't be so hard on yourself, Em." JJ said rubbing her back a bit.

Emily shook her head and straightened up slightly. "Whatever. I'm over him anyway. I don't even know why we're talking about this anymore."

The brunette saw a small grin come across her friend's face. "You're definitely not over Aaron. I think you should give him another chance. Maybe he was just having a bad day when he yelled at you."

"Why? He was an asshole?" Emily's brow furrowed at JJ's comment.

"I've never seen you so excited to go out with someone before. And believe me, you've gone out with a lot of people."

The two friends let out a chuckle and sat in silence for a moment before letting out a long sigh. "I'll think about it." Emily said with a flat smile.

A couple days later, Emily was in her room doing AP lang homework when she heard her doorbell ring. She looked at the clock on her phone. It was about 5:30 and the sun was just beginning to set. As she walked down her staircase, she wondered who could be at her door. Her mom wouldn't be home for another three weeks. She thought it might've been JJ because she usually came to her house unannounced. But the person on the other side of her front door was the last person she expected: Aaron Hotchner.

Emily opened the door in a red Cambridge sweatshirt and grey sweatpants. Her brown eyes grew in surprise when she saw Aaron at the door in a brick red crewneck and jeans. He gave her a small, flat smile. "Hi, Emily." He said awkwardly.

"Why are you here?" Emily asked in a slightly annoyed voice.

"I want to take you out on another first date. I'm sorry I didn't tell you it was me in the movie theater. I was scared you'd say 'no' if you knew who I was. Please just give me another chance."

Emily's face remained cold, but she nodded in response. Aaron and Emily walked to his car. He opened the door for her, and they began driving to a secret lookout point for their date. For the first ten minutes, the car ride was silent. Emily just looked out the window, but she eventually turned towards Aaron. "Where are we going?" Emily asked with a furrowed brow.

"It's a surprise." Aaron said trying to lighten the mood.

"I don't like surprises." Emily said coldly. "The least you can do is tell me where we're going."

Aaron let out a small sigh. "We're going to a lookout point."

Although Aaron was too focused on the road, he didn't see the small smile creep up on Emily's face. After another ten minutes, they arrived at a lookout point, overlooking the city. The sky was now a beautiful ombre of organs and pinks. Emily got out of Aaron's car as he walked to the back, grabbing a blanket and a box of pizza.

Emily was looking out at the city lights; she turned around and saw that Aaron had set up a blanket on the ground with a box of pizza. A small smile spread across her face as she tucked a piece of raven hair behind her ear. She sat down beside Aaron as he opened the box to reveal a large pizza with sausage and jalapeños. Emily looked up at him with a surprised expression. "How'd you know what I liked on my pizza?" She asked genuinely curious.

"Your friend JJ told me." Aaron said with a smile.

"Thank you." She said softly as she grabbed a piece of pizza.

Only two pieces of pizza remained in the box; two of which Emily planned on taking home. Aaron put the box aside and looked at Emily with a slightly guilty expression. He had never seen her dressed so relaxed before, not that it was a bad thing. While he'd only seen her in class, she tended to wear a lot of tight black, red, and green clothing.

But the girl before him was a completely different person. Emily's hair had been thrown into a low bun. She was wearing little makeup and wore baggy clothing that almost devoured her, but Aaron found it adorable. She looked completely different, but it didn't change his growing feelings for the raven haired girl in front of him.

The silence was broken by Emily's phone ringing. Emily looked at it and stood up. "I'm sorry." She said apologetically. "I have to take this."

"Go for it." Aaron replied nonchalantly, letting Emily go. She walked about twenty feet away. Aaron stared out the glowing city lights, but he could hear Emily's conversation behind him. She was talking in French which surprised him because she was in his Spanish class as well. "Qu'est-ce que c'est maman? (What is it, mother?)" (...) "Je suis à un rendezvous en ce moment. Pouvons-nous en parler plus tard? (I'm on a date right now. Can we talk about this later?)" (...) "N'agissez pas si surpris. He te parlerai damain matin. Je t'aime (Don't act so surprised. I'll talk to you in the morning. Love you.)"

And with that, Emily ended the call with her mother, shoving her phone into her pocket. Aaron heard her let out a long sigh as she made her way back over to him. "Sorry, that was my mother." Emily shrugged.

"I thought you were taking AP Spanish?" Aaron asked furrowing his brow a bit.

"I am. I'm also in AP French." Emily shrugged.

"So you're fluent in Spanish and French?"

"Yes, and Italian. I'm working on my Arabic however."

"How do you know all these languages?"

Emily hung her head a bit. Aaron couldn't tell if it was to hide an embarrassed blush or because he had hit a nerve. She looked back up at him with a flat smile. "I moved around a lot when I was younger. As a pass time, I learned the language of whatever country I was in."

The two sat in a comfortable silence between them. Aaron let out a long sigh before looking up at Emily who had now let her hair out of her bun. There was a light breeze that blew her midnight hair behind her. Aaron couldn't help but grin at the sight before him. Emily turned in his direction and a small smile appeared on her lips as well. Then Aaron's smile dropped as well as his head. Emily's face became concerned as she tried to find his eyeliner again. "What is it?" She asked in a calm, low voice.

"I'm sorry for how I treated you at the movie theater. I've been really down because my ex broke up with me a few months ago. I know it's a long time to grieve, but it hit me hard, and I overreacted." Aaron looked truly ashamed of himself. He felt horrible for the way he had treated such a beautiful and genuinely kind person. He had completely misjudged her character and wished he could erase the whole interaction.

"It's ok, Aaron. Really. I should've been the bigger person and just ignored you, no offense. I just get really defensive sometimes." Emily said hanging her head as well.

"If you don't mind my asking, why ave you become so defensive?"

"My mom is a U.S. Ambassador, and because of her postings, we moved around a lot. Kids would always ask intrusive questions, and at first I would just ignore them. But the questions got more uncomfortable for me to answer, and I started getting defensive."

Aaron scooped a bit closer to Emily. Here, he could really take in her features. She had beautiful, big dark brown eyes with long dark eyelashes. She had a small pointy nose that Aaron found adorable and had thin, heart-shaped lips he could not take his eyes off of. And her smile. Once he'd seen her smile in the hallway, laughing at something her friend said. It was the most genuine and stunning thing about her.

Although she had opened up to him, Aaron restrained himself from grabbing Emily's hand. "I'm sorry, Emily. It must've been hard dealing with those people."

Emily simply shrugged. "If was, but those people were idiots. Plus, I don't think I'll be moving for a while. My mother thought it would be easier for me to stay while she travelled."

Aaron simply nodded in response. The two once again fell into a silence, but this time it was a comfortable one. The rustling on the tree leaves filled the air as Emily and Aaron turned their attention to one another again. Emily gave Aaron a small, almost shy grin.

She couldn't contain herself anymore. She grabbed Aaron by his crew neck and connected their lips. Aaron's lips fit Emily's perfectly as he deepened the kiss by grabbing her cheek with his hand, getting his hands tangled in her dark locks. Aaron felt a heatwave surge through his body. He couldn't help but smile through their kiss. No one had made him this happy since Haley, and Emily even more so. He had grown to love Emily's brutal honesty and sarcastic attitude. He found it refreshing and overall enjoyable.

The two eventually pulled away from one another when the need for air was too intense. When they pulled away, Aaron had a smile on his face he hadn't had in months. Emily's cheeks were flushed as she tucked a piece of hair behind her ear. She smiled back at him before he took her in his arms, pulling her closer to him. She rested her head on his shoulder as he wrapped his arm around her. They stared out at sky, with the now rising moon in the distance. They sat in each other's arms, enjoying the company of one another.
