Alyssa lay in Paul's bed, curled up in her own warmth under the covers, the absence of Paul upset her slightly but then she spread her arms and legs to the full length of the bed and sighed in content. The sound of pots and pans downstairs caught Alyssas attention, she pulled on one of Paul's t shirts and rushed downstairs, stopping when she locked eyes with Emily.
"I'm so sorr-" Emily was cut off by the wind being taken from her lungs as Alyssa smothered her in a bone crushing hug. Alyssa stepped away from her when she heard Emily gasping for air, Alyssa chuckled lightly before her expression returned to sadness.
"look, Paul told me about your father, I'm so sorry you had to go through that" Alyssa said as she lowered herself to the table.
"no, I acted immature yesterday, I really thought I was over my dad's death but, I don't think you ever really get over losing someone like that" Emily realised what she had said, her hands clasped in Alyssas. "Im sorry I shouldn't have said that"
"no! No I'm glad someone's telling it to me straight, i don't think I'll ever get over it but maybe after I give him a good send off it might make me feel better" Alyssa smiled weakly.
"we will all be here to help you, you don't have to do this alone" Emily insisted squeezing her hands, wishing someone had been there for her when her father died.
Alyssa smiled to her, a real smile, and looked to the pile of dishes in the sink.
"need a hand?" Alyssa asked.
"god yes!" Emily exclaimed with a chuckle before standing up and heading to the mop bucket. Alyssa didn't fail to notice Emily wiping off her tears with the back of her hand.
"enough of the sappy talk let's get to work" Emily smiled at Alyssa as she saw her brightening up.
"some music?"

Emily and Alyssa were sat in the living room, eating muffins and watching 13 going on 30 for the tenth time that month when the pack came crashing through the door. Alyssa jumped up with a smile on her face, tugging down Paul's huge jumper so it went a little bit below her thighs as Paul came peering through the doorway, smiling when he locked eyes with his Hermosa, running toward her immediately and pushing her back onto the sofa, landing ontop of her, his knees on either side of her as he buried his head in her neck, Alyssa ran her hands down his muscly back, at times like those he reminded her of a puppy. Paul started kissing his way up her neck, making her giggle before he trapped her lips in his.

"hey" Paul said breathlessly as he looked into Alyssas eyes below him
"you shoud be glad I phased or you would be completely crushing me right now" Alyssa laughed along with Paul.
"I missed you" he whispered his forehead leant against hers
"I missed you too" she whispered, kissing him one last time.
"Paul!" Sam shouted in a gruff voice from the doorway, Paul groaned loudly before flopping off Alyssa's lap and landing beside her on the sofa, Alyssa laughed at the dissapointment in Paul's face, her laugh growing when Emily slapped Sam's arm and rolled her eyes dramatically.
"Paul we need to talk" Alyssa smiled sadly at him, and grabbed him by the hand, hauling him off the sofa easily and heading for the stairs, Sam threw them both a suspicious glare.
"don't worry Sam, Paul's not really my type" she teased, smiling at the low growl coming from Paul's throat as Sam let's out a roar of laughter.

"so what did you want to talk about?" Paul asked after he shut the door behind them pulling Alyssa to the foot of bed and sitting beside her.
"I want your help with planning my father's funeral" the smile wiped of Paul's face, his eyes immediately going down to their entwined hands.
"right yeah that" Paul said, looking as though he was trying to sort his words carefully.
"no, guapo don't be sad, I just, I think I need to get all of this sorted y'know?"
Paul nodded in understanding, squeezing her hand tightly.

"I know you're sad, and I know you're sad because you think I'm sad but, I honestly think he did me a favour, I was trapped there and the only thing stopping me from leaving was my dad, I think in a way I thought I was saving him by staying and now I guess he's released me, opened the gate? " Alyssa tried to explain
"he's still my hero, he's still in my heart but I'm not all that sad that he's gone. I don't know. maybe that makes me soul less" Paul caressed her cheek with his free hand.
"your not soul less, you have one of the most colourful souls I've ever seen" Paul smiled to her.
"oh you've seen it have you?" Alyssa teased wiping a tear off her cheek with the back of her hand.
"well I've spent a lot of time looking into you're eyes, and you know what they say" Paul inferred smiling to himself.
"God when did you get do sentimental" Alyssa giggled again.
"ever since I first heard you're laugh"

"so what's our plan of action?" he asked.
"I should probably talk to my mum first" she shrugged "I mean, I can't really have a funeral without her" Paul looked at her, his eyebrows knitted together.
"you're gonna invite her?" Paul asked
"I mean, she's my mum-"
"she didn't respect any of you, she doesn't deserve to be there you've been gone for days and she's only called you to taunt you" Paul insisted, he knealt in front of her, her hands clasped in his. "I know it's hard but you need to understand you have a new family now, you don't need her" he insisted holding her hand to his lips and giving it a kiss.
"I know, it's just, I've clung to her for so long, it's hard to let go" she said looking down to her hands.
"I know hermosa, I know" he pressed his forehead to hers. "sometimes letting go is the release you need, you're dad's opened the gate, now run"

Alyssa woke in the middle of the night, a dark shimmer worked its way through the thin curtains and danced against the walls. Alyssa pulled Paul closer to her with a sigh of content.
"Pauline?" she whispered quietly, kissing his forearm. Paul hummed and inaudible word that made Alyssa giggle.
"Paul are you awake?" she whispered again.
"yeah baby, what wrong?" he sounded tired, Alyssa immediately regretted waking him.
"I think I should go and see my dad" she suggested stroking the hairs on his arm into a neat comb over.
"what?" he asked turning her figure easily in his arms so their noses where almost touching.
"I want to see him. In the last days so much has happened but I don't know how to arrange a funeral, I don't know how to legally move a body. The least I can do today is see him" she decided, booping Paul's nose with hers.
Paul chuckled lightly,
"okay Rica well go, but try and get a little bit of sleep okay?"
"I don't know if I can" she whispered back
"do you want me to rock you?" he asked sleepily.
"like a baby?" she giggled
"yes, Rica" Paul replied in a gruff voice making Alyssas heart melt.
Alyssa nodded her head and at that Paul wrapped his arms around her and pulled her onto his lap she giggled as she rested her head on his shoulder looking up at his sleepy eyes as he began swaying gently rocking to the silence surrounding them. As soon as he heard her gentle snoring he smiled widely to himself, knowing full well he would do absolutely anything for her,he laid her gently beside him, keeping her in his arms.

"Are you ready to go?" Alyssa asked Paul as she sat at the table shoes on and coat hung on her shoulders.
"huh?" Paul looked bewildered before a look of regret slapped him on the face. "oh god your dad! I completely forgot, we have a big patrol search on today for some vampire in the area" Paul exclaimed grasping Alyssas hands
"I'm so sorry but this is really important" he said Alyssa looked to him, her lips turned downwards as she stood up shaking her head.
"if it's so important why aren't I coming?" she asked her arms crossed.
"this is a big deal you haven't even had your first training session yet and we haven't even worked on your shifting, we all thought it would be a good idea to keep you from patrol and pack business until your father's funeral is out of the way" Paul explained.
"is it because I'm a girl? I'm part of the pack now, I deserve to know this stuff!" she shouted a feeling of injustice settling on her lungs.
"no it's not because your a girl! It's just...your dad, he-" Alyssa cut him off with her hand on his lips.
"stop using my dad as an excuse, just face it you don't want me in the pack" Alyssa assumed looking to him waiting for a response, Paul stood there dumbfounded his hand going to the nape of his neck
"right well I'm glad we sorted that out" Alyssa nodded before grabbing her bag and running out the door, tears streaming her cheeks as she began down the road to the town center.

Alyssa growled in frustration as she plonked herself down on the bench at the side of the road, rain was pounding the ground around her she tilted her head upward and felt the rain on her skin, attempting to bring herself back to reality so she didn't shift in the middle of town. Her bones ached with each heavy rain drop that hit her skin. A familiar car cut through the rain toward her, Alyssa jumped to her feet and stood in front of the car her hands in front of her,the car slid to a holt a few feet in front of her, Alyssa let out a breath she didn't realise she was holding and rushed to the opening door, Quil stepped out of the car his arms flying up in confusion, Alyssa didn't care why the arms where up or whose they were she rushed into them and buried her head in his neck.

"whoa Alyssa? Are you alright?" he asked as he rubbed his hands up and down her arms trying to warm her up,"you're freezing!" he exclaimed whilst he walked her to the passenger side door of his car.
"why are you out in the rain?" he asked as he stepped into the drivers side, his red flannel shirt stuck to his torso,
"I was going to see my dad but Paul forgot and I didn't have a car so...i don't know really" she shrugged.
"your dad a was an amazing man, remember when he made us hot chocolates because we got snowed in and couldn't play outside?" he smiled at the memory, Alyssa smiled lightly before moving awkwardly in her seat as her wet jeans rubbed against her skin
"can you just take me home?" she asked suddenly, wiping the hairs out of her face.
"sorry I have to swing by Jake's place, return some clothes he left at mine" he said apologetically "but then we can go to yours" he insisted, smiling to her both hands on the wheel, Alyssa smiled.
"I can't go back to mine, mum went crazy" she explained lightly, turning on the radio
"again?!" he exclaimed, his grip tightening slightly on the wheel.
"it wasn't like before, she got...it got out of hand"
"so where are you stayi-" he stopped mid sentence when he pulled into Jacobs driveway and saw a group of tanned men emerging from the forest.
"seriously?!" he exclaimed . "they're here again!" he shook his head, shoving the bag of Jacobs clothes into the back of the car.
"what do you mean, again?"
She asked,
"he just never has time for me anymore, he's alway with, them" he gestured to Alyssas pack angrily.
"no one has the time for me" he whispered, putting the key back in the car, Alyssas hand on his stopped him from turning it. Alyssa noticed the way his shirt clung to his body, the way a few strands of his dark hair dangled in front of his eyes, water dropping onto his perfect nose, She pulled his hand away from the key and held it in hers, their eyes not leaving one another as they both slowly leant in toward one another.

Their lips connected in the middle, Quills hand was in Alyssas hair the other one on her hip as she moved forward, their wet bodies moving toward each other naturally as they both deapened the kiss, despite the screaming voice in her head screaming regret she moved her hand so it rested on his thigh, a low moan left his lips, Alyssa then realised she didn't want to hear a moan but a growl, she wanted her wolf. she wanted Paul.

Suddenly Alyssas head snapped back her eyes immediately going to the woods where she saw Paul in front of the annoying brunette.
"I'm so sorry" Quil said his head in his hands Alyssa shushed him getting out of the car.
What did you do? He didn't want this! A distant whining voice yelled from infront of Alyssas pack, Alyssa stepped out of the car her eyes always on the group.
"this was a mistake, no one has to know about this" she lifted her eyebrows to him, waiting for his agreement.
"look alyssa, I don't -"
"no, we shouldn't have done this it was a mistake your my friend and I...i love Paul, this shouldn't have happened, im sorry" Alyssa shook her head and walked away toward Paul and the family who chose her.
