Chapter Ten:

My dad had agreed to pick me up from the station and quite frankly I was dreading it. I took a deep breath as I spotted his car and walked towards it briskly.

"Hey dad" I grinned hopefully as I opened the car door,

"Hello sweetheart! I've got a bone to pick with you?" He raised his eyebrow and I prepared myself for a lecture.

"Your mum says you have a boyfriend" his eyebrows went even higher.

"What would you do if I said yes?" I muttered

"I'd tell you that that's okay because I know you're sensible but that you should invite him over some time so we can meet him properly" he smiled.

"You're not angry?!" I exclaimed happily.

"Of course not! Well I was a bit at first? But not anymore because your mum talked me round to the idea and I realised that you're not going to be a child forever" he replied slightly sadly.

"I'll text him now! What day?" I asked.

"Some time next weekend?"

"Okay I'll ask if he's free, he's in a band so he might a be busy?" I said whist texting Brad.

The rest if the drive home was spent in silence because I was so tired.

It was about 10 when we got home so I crawled straight into bed after changing into my pyjamas.

I checked my phone before going to sleep to see one new message from Brad.

From Brad:

I'd love to meet your family! Is Sunday okay? We have a gig on Saturday :) xx

I quickly replied

To Brad:

Sundays great :) I'm going to sleep now 😴 I'm so tired haha xx

I received a reply almost instantly,

From Brad

It was quite an eventful day ;) 💃💃 night beautiful 😘xx

I smiled to myself and fell asleep almost instantly, clutching my phone.

*The Next Day*

I was woken up at about 8 by my mum telling me that Lou, Clara and my other friend Amy were downstairs.

"Please could you tell them I'll be down in about 20 minutes" I yawned.

"Okay sweetie" she smiled walking out of my room.

I quickly got dressed, washed brushed my teeth and applied a little make up.

"What are you guys doing here?" I laughed looking at my 3 friends sat on the sofa.

"We thought we'd have band name brainstorm and maybe upload a cover onto YouTube?" Clara grinned.

"YouTube?!" I spluttered..."I don't want the entire world hearing me sing or seeing my face for that matter?!"

"C'mon Isla! Everyone says we have potential, especially you! I know you can't see it but your voice is amazing! And I don't reckon there's many other girlbands like us out there" Lou persuaded me.

"Okay....just one?" I agreed.

They all erupted into cheers!

We made our way out to my garage where we kept our instruments and sat on the floor.

"So I guess we need a name?" I queried.

"Yeah we do!" Amy agreed.

"Brainstorm!" Clara exclaimed and we all erupted into laughter.

After about 1/2 hour we still hadn't come up with a name.

"We need a name to fit with our style?" Lou pondered,

"We don't even have a style, we're such misfits" Amy laughed.

"Ooh Lou I love your tshirt!" My mum exclaimed as she walked past.

"Oh thanks! Who doesn't love a bit of marvel though?" Lou laughed looking down at her tshirt.

All of a sudden I had a revelation!

"Guys don't worry if you don't like it....it's really random...but I was just piecing random words together and I came up with a name....actually it's probably rubbish"

"What is it?! Spit it out?!" Clara exclaimed

"Um...The Marvel Misfits" I snorted.

"OMG yes!!" Lou shouted.

"That's really cool!" Amy and Clara agreed.

"Right the name sorted...now to record the cover!"

We decided to record the vocals first and film the video later.

*A few hours later*

We'd been up the town to find new outfits for the cover and came back with Marvel tshirts. It was incredibly lucky that they had any in stock. I bought a Spider-Man one, Lou had iron man, Clara had Wolverine and Amy had Captain America.

I changed into my oversized tshirt, leggings and red doc martins. I curled my hair more and tied it back into a pony tail using a marvel bandana.

The song that'd we'd decided to cover was If these Sheets were The States by All Time Low (a/n go listen to this song if you haven't! :P)

We decided to keep the video fairly simple for our first cover and just mouth the words and mime playing the instruments because we'd already recorded ourselves playing the instruments and the vocals.

We set up the camera and the lights that Amy's dad had lent us and played the vocals on my computer so we could mime and then mute it later. We introduced ourselves first and then filmed ourselves miming.

After quite a few tries we finally got it right.

"I'm hungry can we ordered dominoes?" I asked

"YEEEEEESSSSS!" Clara squealed!

"Im not hungry so I'll go edit the video and upload it on YouTube" Louise grinned.

"Okie dokes"

We ate the pizza and watched a film whilst Lou was uploading the video. At about 7pm she came back and said it was done. We all thanked her and her and Clara left to get their bus. Amy also left about 20 minutes later to walk home.

I checked out our video on YouTube to see how many views it had got and was shocked when I saw it had several thousand already.

I quickly logged onto twitter and stalked the boys to see that Connor had found it on YouTube which was probably the reason it had got so many views.

"@TheVampsCon: was watching all time low vids on YouTube and found the most amazing cover ever by The Marvel Misfits 😱😱"

I was surprised that Con hadn't mentioned me in the tweet...

I created a twitter account for the band, added the link to our twitter in the video on YouTube and sent out our first tweet.

"@TheMarvelMisfits: hey guys! Our cover has already got loads of views 😱😱 thanks @TheVampsCon 😘 If you haven't seen it please check it out 😋xx"

Connor soon followed the account and gave us a shout out which resulted in our mentions exploding! I decided to text him to thank him.

I told him that we weren't and he insisted that they'd help us get signed....
