Sitting in the bus for the second time that week, Class 2 - B made their way to the Unforeseen Simulation Joint or the Unbelievable Disasters Room, commonly called the U.S.J by most students and teachers.
The ride there was rather short, and soon after they left, Class B stood in front of the rather large building, excitement flooding their veins like lightning.
"Finally! We get to showcase what Thirteen taught us this past month!" exclaimed Tetsutetsu. Everyone smiled wider and agreed; even Kaibara sported a small smile on his face. However, Monoma looked emotionless, his face blank and very unnerving. He had been like that since after the mission he and Re-Arrange had gone on during his work study.
He had walked into the dorms, frustrated, angry and above all else, tired. Tetsutetsu had walked up to his friend and threw his arms around his shoulders. Monoma, not being in the mood, just scowled at the steel user. Tetsutetsu seemed a bit surprised and hurt, but Monoma was too exhausted to care and instead shoved the boy off, rather than comfort him.
Just to his luck, Kendo came out of the shadows. Then again, he should have known that wherever Tetsutetsu was, Kendo wasn't very far behind. She looked at the scene, probably wondering why Tetsutetsu was avoiding Monoma like the plague, and Monoma didn't even seem bothered by it, opting to drag himself past Kendo.
Since he was moving so slowly, Kendo thought he was walking towards her for a hug, and she wrapped her hands around him and gave him a bone - crushing hug. Before, he had just been extremely irritated. Right now? He was Bakugou - level angry.
"Kendo!" he snapped. "Put me the fuck down! I don't want a fucking hug from you! Besides, I hate your fucking hugs, all they fucking do is make my fucking back sore. Keep your fucking dirty hands to yourself, jeez."
Another thing, Monoma swore a lot when he was tired and angry. Kendo immediately released him, a sad and rejected look crossing her face. All the other occupants of the dorm stared at Monoma in shock, before melting into concern. Ultimately deciding it was better to not ask for the time being, they returned to what they were previously doing, albeit more solemnly than before. She took Tetsutetsu's hand and left, muttering something along the lines of "Let's not disturb Monoma, I think he needs to be alone for now."
Monoma gave a frustrated sigh and dragged himself to his room and fell on his bed, not caring if he was sweaty and stinky or not. He regretted it in the morning when he woke up, just like he regretted snapping at Kendo.
He still hadn't gained the guts to actually apologize yet, (damn you anxiety) so he stayed in front of most of the class, almost running inside to meet Thirteen. Once inside, he gained sight of the astronaut - themed hero and walked up to her, though he kept his distance. Everyone else also came in, noticing Monoma's behavior and becoming a bit less cheery.
Thirteen looked around the room, sensing the slight tension in the air. She decided that the heroes - in - training could figure themselves out on their own, so she continued with the agenda supplied for today.
"As you all know, we were going to do an exercise with Class A "-Monoma scoffed- "to pair you up with people who have quirks that aren't suitable for use with the other person, as those situations can occur, meaning you'll have to be able to improvise and think quickly. Unfortunately, Mr. Aizawa has reported that some of his students are under house arrest, meaning we'll have to reschedule."
Once Thirteen broke the news, everyone's face fell, some more obvious than others. Just the sight alone made Monoma's heart clench for his friends. He was pretty mad at Class A right about now. If one of them were here, he would have probably punched them, Bakugou or not.
'Of course Class A would still find a way to annoy me, even if they aren't physically here.' Monoma thought, though he wasn't that annoyed. He still needed to apologize to his class for his outburst last night, so if Class A came and sensed the tension.... Well, that wouldn't be the best for Monoma.
Just before Thirteen could start the lesson, Vlad King called out for her. "Thirteen! I need to talk to you!" he exclaimed. Thirteen excused herself then went outside to meet Vlad King, who was still near the bus.
Just after she left, the U.S.J went into lock down mode. Titanium walls coated the perimeter, all the windows and doors covered by the strong metal. The lock down mode had been added after the first U.S.J attack back when they were first years, and had never been used until that day. The heroes - in - training looked around, surprised by the sudden action. The teachers outside were just as astonished, Vlad King immediately running to the doors.
In a fit of irrationality and fear for his kids- I mean, students, he started to punch the titanium covering. The titanium was laced with the same material used in quirk - cancellation handcuffs, meaning that once you touched the metal alloy, using your quirk was a no go. It was ultimately the best decision, as it stopped people from going in. Unfortunately, it also stopped people from getting out.
Suddenly, a warp gate appeared, because for some reason, the school was still trying to think of an alternative to cancel teleportation and other non contact quirks. Granted, it would take a while, since those kind of quirks didn't need to touch the metal to be deadly.
Out from the portal appeared several lowlife villains. You see, with All Might gone, the crime rate grew a bit steadily. Of course, in recent months it went down due to the efforts of all heroes; but it still wasn't as low as when All Might was the Symbol of Peace.
"Shiozaki-chan! Make a wall surrounding us using your vines!" Kendo called, and Shiozaki obeyed the command. It kept the villains out, until a few seconds later when someone came through the vine barricade using a chainsaw.
Once the person broke through, they tried to swing at Tsuburaba, who was closest to the hole that the villain made. He was able to make an air shield just in time, and was able to dodge with the few seconds it took the villain to cut through the air.
"Alright everyone, let's split up!" shouted Monoma, because that was the best course of action. If they all stayed together, they would surround all of them and they'd get defeated. There was no way they could get out, none of them were strong enough to do that. Their best bet was to hide, as they'd get tired of fighting soon enough.
"What? Why?" asked Awase. "What about strength in numbers or all that shit?"
"We'd all get tired of fighting sooner or later, so we should fucking hide! I don't think 20 fucking people can find a space in this building that's big enough to hold us and hide together! Especially since we don't have that fucking time!" Monoma screamed back.
Another thing, Monoma swore a lot when under too much pressure for him to handle. Just as Monoma finished screaming, the villain lunged at Tsuburaba again. Fortunately for Tsuburaba, Kaibara punched the guy. Hard. Monoma thought he heard a small crack actually. The guy passed out on the floor, so that was one problem resolved.
"You okay dude?" Kaibara asked, looking at a kneeling Tsuburaba. The brunet was able to give a small smile and a thumbs up in return. But as if fate was against them, the remainder of the vines were sliced through, and a villain with blades all over his body stood in front of them. Around them was a circle of villains, ready to take them on.
"Everyone! Split into groups of two and hide!" Monoma yelled.
"You're just lucky none of your plans have failed us!" Tsuburaba retorted, grabbing Kaibara's arm and running south.
Monoma looked around and touched Tetsutesu, Kendo, Kodai, and Yanagi. He would have preferred something other than Yanagi and Kodai, because both their quirks required objects. Hopefully, Yanagi's quirk would let him be able to hold the villains, given they had the correct body mass.
"Run in different directions!" he yelled again, looking for who to take with him.
Kaibara and Tsuburaba were gone, headed south.
Awase and Rin were gone as well, heading south east.
Kuroiro and Komori went off, going south west.
Honenuki and Tsunotori left in the eastern direction. It was probably for the best anyway. Both of them could speak to each other using English, confuse the villains, and knock them out.
Yanagi and Kodai went together, going west.
Tetsutetsu and Kendo ran off north east.
Shishida and Kamakiri were together and left in the north western direction.
Shiozaki and Shoda had left already, heading south, probably to back up Tsuburaba and Kaibara, though there were some other areas near were they were running that would serve as good hiding places.
Tokage and Bondo took off, heading west as well.
That left Monoma and Fukidashi, but just as he ran to the other hero - in - training , a warp gate appeared in front of him, trapping him and spitting him out in the central plaza. In front of him was the girl he had seen the previous day, and another person that looked like a swirling mist with yellow eyes.
Meanwhile, outside...
Vlad King had taken the bus back to the school, the bus moving so fast that it almost tipped over when it stopped in front of the school. Thirteen was still outside the U.S.J, trying to contact the school. Unfortunately, there was no signal. It had to be a quirk, but no quirk from inside would possibly be able to work out here. She looked around. The person jamming the communications system must be outside.
Vlad King rushed inside the school, heading straight for Nezu's office. He reported the situation, and said that the number of opponents and their goal was not clear at the moment.
"It's best we get everyone to go then, because it's better to have too many heroes than none at all."
Vlad King wanted to agree, but something clicked in his mind. "What if this is all just a decoy, so that they can go for one of the students?"
Nezu nodded. "You're right. Take Midnight, Aizawa and Power Loader with you. Power Loader'll figure something out for the lock down. Midnight, you and Aizawa will take out the villains."
Vlad King nodded and rushed to the 2 - A classroom, barging in and disrupting the lesson.
"Aizawa-san! Get to the U.S.J! It's an emergency!"
"What kind of emergency?" Aizawa asked, his students looking a bit alarmed.
"Villain attack." Vlad King replied, voice dark. "I'm going to get Midnight and Power Loader as well, I'll give you the details on the way."
Aizawa nodded and turned to the class in front of him. "Iida, you're in charge until I get back. Use this time as a study period and catch up on homework or whatever. Don't get scared, the villains are probably not here for you."
"But Aizawa-sensei!" Iida exclaimed. "We were supposed to have a class with Thirteen and Class B, doesn't that mean they're the ones under attack?"
"We should do something! I can't just wait and see what happens when Tetsu could be hurt!" Kirishima suggested.
Aizawa darkened. "None of you are to do anything. The teachers can take care of this."
And with that, he left.
"Would do that Copycat some good to learn how it feels to be attacked, maybe he'll act less annoying." Bakugou grumbled.
"Even though it's bad, I kind of agree Kacchan. Maybe the experience will help him relate to us, and then we could become possible friends!"
Bakugou snorted. "You're too innocent if you believe that."
Midoriya frowned but said nothing, deciding to bring out his notebook and get to studying instead.
Back with Monoma....
'Members of the League of Villains.' Monoma thought, getting up from the awkward position in which he landed and stood straight.
"Is this the boy?" asked the swirling mist.
"It is. He saw me yesterday, with that stupid hero Re-Arrange. Tried listening in on my conversation." replied the girl.
"What did he hear?"
"Definitely not much, or else he wouldn't have risked getting closer."
"Should we kill him?"
At that question, the girl looked alarmed. "N-No. Let's not kill him. We'll just hurt him bad enough that it'll be a warning."
"You? Refusing to kill someone? What's really going on Toga?"
Wait. Toga. As in his old last name Toga. As in his sister's name Toga. As in the girl who looks just like his sister Toga.
No. It had to be a coincidence. People can not be directly related but still have the same last name. But, it was so similar, that it didn't feel like a coincidence to Monoma.
Monoma glared at the two, getting into a battle stance and preparing himself for whatever was about to happen. The girl sighed and turned to her accomplice.
"Kurogiri, please stay away from this fight. It's a bit personal." the blonde girl asked, though it came out as a bit of a command.
Kurogiri obeys, and remains a swirling mist, but in mid air. He's still watching the fight, Monoma can tell, but from a safe distance.
The girl throws in the first attack, pulling a knife from her thigh holster and trying to slice Monoma. He activates Tetsutetsu's quirk just in time, and all that is heard is the screeching clang of two metals hitting each other.
Unfortunately for Monoma, he remembers that he definitely did not eat enough iron that day to keep this up for 15 minutes, so he tries to get some attacks in before he has to change quirks.
The girl keeps coming at him again and again, and with both being hand - to - hand combatants, Monoma is stuck with defending himself until he sees an opportunity to get the knife from her hands, though he knows that she has more under her skirt in the thigh placed knife holster.
He keeps dodging, but sometimes he doesn't dodge in time. He can feel the steel coating cracking oh so gradually each time her knife hits him, and soon enough, it breaks. Monoma is on the floor now, breathing heavily at over exerting his quirk by trying to make the steel armor stay for just a few minutes longer. He has no energy left, and the girl in front of him just gives him a maniac smile, like the one he sometimes has, just that hers seemed way more... lewd.
"Aren't you going to hurt me?" Monoma taunts, because being an asshole to the person going to hurt you is a very good idea. Well that, and he wants to strike up a conversation so that he can have enough time to try and regain his energy.
The girl throws the knife at his head, and it whizzes past Monoma's ear when he dodged, grazing his ear. It doesn't hurt, not really, but just feeling the blood flowing out of his ear and into his ear canal is disgusting. He wipes it off, but right after he does, another knife comes at him, for his leg this time. He jerks his leg up, the limb staying in mid - air as the knife hits the ground where his leg previously was situated.
The blonde girl got closer and closer, before she jumped on him and pinned him down, knife pressed at his neck. He was nervous, -who wouldn't be when a fucking knife was pressed to you neck?- but he refused to show it.
"I don't want to hurt you Neito." Toga sighed. Monoma immediately wanted to slap the bitch. Why the hell did she call him Neito? What would she gain from using his given name? He wanted to open his mouth and answer, but stopped when he remembered the knife at his throat. One wrong move, and it would slice his neck open and he could possibly die.
"Kurogiri, let's go." Toga commanded, and Monoma was enveloped into the darkness of the warp gate.
