Ryan woke up the next day and decided not to go to work, he didn't have his dinner the night before and so he got really hungry. His stomach grumbled while he walked down the stairs in his favorite flip flop, he was in a sweat trouser and a hoodie looking more like a depressed soul as his hair was messy too.
He went to the kitchen and saw Lydia laughing with his maids, he frowned she was the last person he wanted to set his eyes on that morning.
"Hey you!" Ryan said not referring to anyone in particular, he didn't know the junior maids names, they got startled and stood upright. Lia dropped the knife in her hands and it startled everyone in the kitchen except Ryan.
"Get Mrs Boston to make my breakfast, the usual" he said and left the kitchen.
Lydia suddenly bounced on him smiling like a baby as she wrapped her hand around his elbow and asked "are you still annoyed about yesterday?" Ryan kept quiet, he only gave her a numb look, he didn't understand why she changes her behavior like a camelion.
"You slept on a hungry stomach" Lydia said still smiling at him while they walked into the living room together. Ryan then saw his father sitting comfortably with newspapers in his hands and a plate of sandwich with a cup of tea by his side.
Ryan rolled his eyes, he gets why Lydia acted the way she did, she was still holding on to his hand before she released her hand slowly and smiled at his father. Ryan didn't know why he felt a little hurt that she let go of his hand but then with her body close to him it warmed him up and as soon as she let go, the cold rush through him again.
"What's going on pops?" Ryan said still giving a numb look. Aiden placed his papers down, sipped on his tea and smiled at the cup, pleased with the taste, he looked over at Lydia, grinned and made a cheers like gesture while Lydia smiled back at him.
"I'm good Ryan, I'm just happy to see Lydia is still here"
Ryan raises his eyebrows and shook his head lightly, he looked back at Lydia and saw how she was blushing, he frowned, annoyed that she could act so well. He choose to believe she was acting because she wouldn't just start acting this way after what had transpired the day before.
"Ryan you need to let go of your ego and you know that" Ryan's father said as he picked up a sandwich. Lydia stood up to leave "excuse me Mr Lucas" she said and left as Mrs Boston brought Ryan's break fast. Ryan finally smiled staring down at his food, it was potatoes with grilled chicken and a another dish with casserole in it.
"You are my son, I am not happy with what is going on with you, you need to fill your life with happiness, you know you haven't" Aiden said while watching Ryan sip his hot casserole and stuffing the potato in his mouth, he rolled his eyes at his son choice of food for breakfast.
"I'm trying to do that but I can't" Ryan after swallowing his food without looking at his father.
"You can, you can Ryan, you can if you allow yourself to"
Ryan sighed and his father stood up immediately "that's all you came to say huh?" He asked now looking up.
"Yes son, that's all" Ryan's father said and left.
~******~
Ryan stood in his balcony starring down at the beautiful city as he heard Lydia voice which startled him but he didn't flinch.
"I've been observing you" Lydia said without looking at him, she looked up at the sky and flushed pink before turning to Ryan who felt like he was out of breath when her eyes came in contact with his.
"What?" He managed to ask.
"What's wrong? Your eyes..." Lydia paused and lightly touched the dark areas around Ryan's eyes, Ryan held her hand as he felt strange, her palm was soft and as her skin connected with his, he couldn't help but hold her hand back, he felt as though he was scared to feel the sensation.
"Why are you acting like you care?" He said frowning as Lydia removed her hand and he slide his in his pocket.
"I'm your girlfriend, that's my duty"
"Are you mocking me right now?, you know the terms of this relationship Lydia" Ryan said frowning harder but he regretted asking, he wasn't heeding to his fathers advice.
"I accepted your terms to save my colleagues, I didn't wanna be the cause of anyone's pain" Lydia said smiling as she stared into his eyes, Ryan thought he was hallucinating but he saw her eyes glimmer just like he did the the night she refused to let him take her home.
Lydia moved closer to him, placed her hand gently on his cheek and said "I can only help.... if you let me" Lydia slide her hands away from his cheek slowly and locked eyes with Ryan. He saw her eyes glimmer again and he was assured it wasn't an hallucination, there is more to lydia's story and he knew this for sure. They were silent for a while, they stood in front of each other and stared deeply into each others eyes, mesmerized. Ryan soodled closer to her and gently he moved the hair on her neck away and placed his forehead and nose on her bear skin.
Lydia cringed at the contact, her whole body tensed up, goosebumps started appearing on her skin as she felt surge of tingles all over her body. She trailed her hand down to his back giving Ryan the comfort he needed.
Ryan was confused, he had no idea why he submitted to her but it felt good and he didn't want to accept it.
Lydia last sentence replayed in his head and then he grew terrified, she couldn't have found out, she doesn't know anything, he didn't understand why she said that but he was sure she couldn't have found out what he had hidden from her.
