6 Months Ago:

Checking the report for the umpteenth time, she couldn't help but let out a tired breath. And before she knew, she felt the report getting wet in her hands, because of the tears that she didn't even know were clouding her eyes.

Letting out another shaky breath, she kept it in the side drawer of her bed. An aura of apprehension surrounded her. Her heart clenched tightly at thought of letting go. Letting go of all that she had and all that she could have.

She was in disbelief. Denial. Acceptance would take some time. As an 18 year old, it was hard to process that she might not make it. She had dreams she wanted to fulfil. A family she wanted to spend time with. Friends whom she wanted to go out with and party. She had all the dreams of a teenager.

Don't I deserve this? she had been questioning herself over and over again.

But she had to let go.

Let go of the life that she deserved. A life full of happiness, joy, and contentment. She wanted to fly high, make her parents proud. She wanted to have a stable job, and buy that new purse her mom wanted. She would also take her younger siblings on outings that they had always requested from her. She would get the new shirt her dad had wanted. And she wanted to see her family smile joyfully and have many more laughter-filled dinners with them.

But her life took that chance away from her. As grey as the clouded sky, she could feel like her heart would cry just like the downpour. Nature has a way of expressing itself, and it felt like the sky was crying with her, at her distorted destiny.

Her chocolate eyes that were once brimming with contentment, were now just an image of despair. The sound of rain provided a certain sense comfort. Like a lullaby, it sang to her about the lovely spring days, reminding her of all the beautiful memories she had lived in.

Like the trickling droplets fell on the ground, they disappeared among the flow of the thousand others, she was one day going to be buried, under the ground, along with the million others.

Splattered droplets on her window and strong sound of pitter-patter made me look out the window. The sky was tar-black and the large clouds surrounded the whole sky, like it was covering it under the blanket, saving it from all the dangers of this world.

Moving towards the the closed window, she traced a stray droplet that made its way down, making its own way. Just then her eyes glanced outside to see people running for cover and umbrellas were opened as the clouds spat out their beads of water. Puddles began plinking as the rainfall became heavier. She could hear the murmuring of the rain through the window. To others, it might be like an angry buzz but to her, it sounded like the sound of pain, the sound of her crying heart. Like it was expressing the pain that she could not. And after a long time, her quivering lips, smiled.

At least, someone knew what I felt. It was God.

Present:

It felt like deja vu as she stared at the report in her hand. Once again.

Ms. Torris, we are sorry to inform you that, even after going through the painful procedure of chemotherapy, your health is not progressing. You might have just a month or over to love. Once again, we are sorry.”

It was the painful truth of her life she couldn't deny. All her family now knew about her ill health. And since a few months, everybody has been trying their best to keep her happy and make her live the best moments of her life. She was really grateful for everything.

She glanced at the screen of her phone and she sighed. She wanted to tell Abbey about this. She was the only one who wasn't informed. She didn't really want her friend to get the sudden shock of her death.

She remembered Abbey bought a new sim. So she dialed her new number from her memory.

"Hey, Abbey. So... it was true. I'm suffering from stage 3 cancer and the doctors say that I may just have a month or over to live."

"...um... not Abbey, but I feel sorry for you."

"Oh..."

"Uh... yeah."

"..."

"..."

"You weren't supposed to know this, whoever you are."

"It's okay. Your secret's safe with me. So, you only got about a month to live?"

"I did say that."

"Then why do you sound so sad? Spice it up!"

“Spice, what?”

"Look, Abbey's friend or sister or daughter or—"

"Okay! Just move on."

"Oookayy... So Abbey's move on, I know you might be sad but why are you mourning over your death before your death, just live it like a butterfly!"

"Butterfly what? Wait— Hello? Hey, hold on! At least, should've explained what you said before you hung up!"

The chapters will be a little short since it's a call story. I just wanted to give you a backstory so this was long.
