Chapter Three

June 28, 2014

The scream that filed out from Beyoncé's mouth went throughout her home. She'd just hung up from the adoption agency about possibly changing agents. The last thing that she needed was someone coming in between her and her baby. She knew her attitude toward the woman wasn't necessary, but she couldn't help the guard that she had up. The same woman that slept around with her ex husband is now the same woman that she's supposed to trust with this journey?

Absentmindedly, she began scrolling through the contacts of her iPhone. She was trying to control her emotions, but she couldn't identify which emotion she was feeling.

"How'd it go?" Solange's voice questioned through the phone's speaker.

"We have a problem."

"A problem? What problem?"

"I can't.."

"Beyoncé, what the hell?"

"My agent is the same woman that fucked my husband!"

She could tell that Solange was taken back by the bluntness coming from her older sister's mouth. Granted, Beyoncé had always been blunt, but that was at a different level.

"Did she recognize you?" Solange asked shyly. Beyoncé hadn't really told Solange the entire story of her and Idris. She had only explained to her that infidelity ended their relationship. Due to circumstances, she didn't tell how the woman had been sitting on her kitchen container when she expected to come home to her husband for Valentine's Day.

Laughing a bit, Beyoncé decided to not answer that. "She flat out told me if I crossed the line with Idris, she'd make sure I didn't get a baby."

"Well, don't cross the line. I'm sure you won't."

"That's beside the point. She shouldn't have threatened me like that."

Solange laughed. "I've known you for a little minute, and I know how you are already. Your mouth is slick. Did anything else go wrong?"

Beyoncé ignored her sister's comment, but thought on her question. "She tried to say I didn't know Shawn."

"What?!"

"Exactly. Asking if he's on board with the baby."

Solange chuckled a bit. "Who's the one going through the process? Beyoncé or Shawn?"

"Beyoncé."

"Thought so. Shawn got his own baby. Didn't the two of you talk about this?"

Bey nodded her head as if her sister could see her. "Yep. We talked and it was understood that this child was mine. I wanted a baby before Shawn even came into the picture. Two months is too early to be thinking about a family with him."

"Right. You need me to fuck her up?"

Solange's question caught Beyoncé off guard. She had learned that Solange wasn't really scared to fight for whatever she believed in. It was comical when she decided to tell Bey about some of her favorite fights that she had been in. Compared to her, Beyoncé's fights were nothing.

"How about no?"

"Whatever. Fine. Can I tell you about what happened?"

Beyoncé released a deep breath, and encouraged her younger sister to continue with her story.

"Well, we went on another date. And...something happened."

"Something like?"

"Let's just say the backseat of a car isn't really all that comfortable when you're doing something other than sitting."

"Solange!" Beyoncé couldn't even contain her squealing. She had a mixture of excitement and shocked. This was really a sister moment for the both of them.

"Don't Solange me."

"How?!"

"Uh...you know? Slide it in.."

Beyoncé laughed. "Not how how, but....how did it get to that?"

"He called me a chicken. He said I was scared."

"Oh hell." Tina was the one that told Bey that Solange would never back down from a challenge.

"But I enjoyed it. It was really nice."

Bey fell out laughing. "Solange, please. Do you regret it?"

"Of course not. I don't regret anything. Everything happens for a reason. I don't live in a world of regrets."

Bey listened to her sister and took it in. Everything happens for a reason. It was something that Shawn used to tell her. She didn't really believe him much, because she believed in karma on top of things. Was this baby her karma?

"And Bey?"

"Yeah?"

"How about worrying, just talk to Idris? Don't be disrespectful, just let him know your concerns. You said he still cares."

It was true. Idris did still care about her, but she didn't want this fiasco to mess up their relationship.

"I'll see what I can do. But I have to call Shawn."

"Tell the asshole I said hey."

Bey laughed softly before she and Solange said their goodbyes. Her next task was to dial Shawn's number. It took him a while to answer, and she figured it was simply because he was caught up with Ashlyn or even Christina.

"Hello?" The female voice answered the phone, immediately sending alarms up in Bey's body.

"....hello?"

"Is this Beyoncé?"

"Yes. Who is this?"

"Christina," she answered nonchalantly.

"Where's Shawn?"

"Playing with his daughter."

"May I speak with him?"

Why was she asking?

"He's a little bit busy."

Beyoncé smirked before she could could Shawn's voice in the background asking Christina who was on the phone. He didn't seem to care that she'd answered his phone as if she had that right. After finding out who it was on the phone, Bey was shocked when he told Christina that he'd call Bey back.

Before Christina could even relaying the message, Beyoncé simply hung up the phone. She didn't even want to get into that at the moment. Truthfully, she felt disrespected, but she didn't like making a big fiasco of things.

Instead, she decided to clean up her house a bit before leaving it to do some shopping.

"You know that was messed up, right?" Christina asked Shawn after hanging up his phone.

"What?"

"Telling me to dismiss her like that?"

Shawn looked at her for a moment. The two had found themselves at the home that they used to share. They were supposed to part ways, but Shawn told her that he didn't have anything to do since Bey was having a meeting.

"Can I just enjoy my daughter?" He asked with a slight attitude.

"You could all while talking to her. What's wrong with you?"

He released a deep breath before shaking his head. His eyes diverted to his daughter who was running to and from him constantly. She was unaware of anything else going on around her.

"Nothing."

"You forget who you're talking to? I may despise the hell out of you, but I still know you. What is wrong with you? You tired of her too?"

Shawn smirked a bit. "Nah. I'm just going to let her do her meeting."

Christina gave him a look.

"She's adopting a child," he finally confessed to her.

"And?"

"And?"

"Yes. And?"

"Why is she adopting?"

"Because she's grown, Shawn. Her life don't revolve around your ass. I could've told you that a long time ago. She didn't even look like the type of woman to depend on a man. Truthfully, if you left her, I don't even think she'd care."

Shawn looked at his ex wife weirdly. He was taking offense to everything that she saying. "We love one another."

"That's not what I was saying. What I'm saying is that if you left her, she wouldn't beg you to come back. She'd take it as it just happening. Do you comprehend? She doesn't need you, Shawn. She just wants you."

"I don't need her either."

Christina chuckled. "Oh yes you do. I know you. You need your relationship with her to work because of what you lost."

Shawn's eyes watched Christina. Ever since she'd finally come to terms with everything, he'd seen her in a different light.

"Christina you should go on a date. Want me to hook you up?"

Her shocked expression was priceless, causing him to laugh at her. "Shawn, shut up."

"I'm serious! We can call up some high school friends."

"Oh hell no. I'm too busy at the moment."

"With?"

"I have a daughter and two businesses, remember?"

"You had that while we were together."

"Yes. But you were rarely around and cheating. Remember?"

Shawn decided not to respond to that. How could he? They'd never really talked about what really happened. It was as if Christina had her moment and simply brushed it off. Her focus was mainly on Ashlyn and her businesses.

"Has she met Kim and Ye yet?" Christina asked Shawn softly.

He shook his head. "How am I supposed to even bring her around? Do they know?"

"Kim knows," Christina told him truthfully.

"So I'm sure Ye knows."

"You haven't talked to him?"

"Not as much, really."

"I think she should meet them. If you're really serious about it, why not?"

Shawn pondered what she said for a moment. Bey was his risk, and he took it. He had took a big gamble with their relationship, and he fell in love with her. He was more than serious about their relationship. Meeting his friends was a big step, because Kim and Kanye were best friends of him and Christina.

Would they be judgmental of her?
