Over the passed 6 months, nothing much has changed. I'm still a loner and I still don't talk at all. It's the last day of school and I'm just relaxing in classes. I'm walking to my last class for the day and I actually liked that class because Lexi has that class and we usually walk to class together.

I was walking to class with my earbuds in and my hood over my head like normal. I saw by the classroom when I saw this dude Kyle standing in front of Lexi. I looked at Lexi in her eyes and I could tell she was scared so I pulled my ear buds and walked over there. I quickly made my way over there then I took my hand and grabbed Kyle by his shoulder and spun him around to face me. I then pointed behind me.

Kyle: What do you want!?

I once again pointed behind me. Lexi saw that and she knows me. She can look at me or see my gestures and know what I want.

Lexi: H-He wants you to leave...

Kyle smirked before he slightly pushed me. It wasn't really a push so much as he lightly smacked my chest.

Kyle: He does? Let him tell me himself...

Kyle continues to smack at my chest with a cocky smile.

Kyle: ...come on superstar. Tell me. Tell me to leave.

He clipped my chin and I looked to Lexi. I turned my head to the left quickly and she picked up on my signal. Lexi quickly moved to the direction I pointed. I looked and saw that she was far away enough. I balled my fist up and punched Kyle right in the mouth. He stumbled back towards the locker while being suprised and dazed. I stepped forward and continued to swing until I felt someone grab me and pull me back so I stopped.

I was slung back by one of the Assistant Principals, Mr. Roberts. He's the kind of guy that can tell has no authority at home at all so the authority he has here has gone to his head. He grabbed me bu the back of my neck and started trying to drag me to his office. I stopped in my tracks and he turned to face me.

Mr. Roberts: GET...

I just started angrily into his eyes. He stopped mid sentence and let go of me. I walked in front of him into his office. I sat down in the chairs in front of his desk. He came in screaming about how we don't fight at school and all this bs but I wasn't listening. I was checking for dirt under my nails when he aggressively grabbed my hand.

Mr. Roberts: DON'T YOU IGNORE ME! I COULD...

I knew he was gonna threaten me so I looked back up at him. I looked deep into his eyes with the same angry stare as before. He once again stopped his thought but this time he changed his entire demeanor.

Mr.Roberts: ...look, it's the last day. You're going to high school next year so we're just going to send you home. You just sit tight.

I shook my head in response. I pointed behind me with my thumb where Lexi was waiting.

Mr.Roberts: We'll send her home too. You just win us state.

I nodded as Mr.Roberts got on his desk phone. He made some calls before he sent me out to wait with Lexi. About 30 minutes later, Bob came in and signed us out. We left and I sat in the back with Lexi during the quiet car ride.

Lexi moved to the middle seat and sat where there was no space between us. She rested her head on my shoulder during the ride. I had my head down as I could feel Bob looking at me through the rear view mirror. I slightly moved my head and gave Lexi a kiss on the top of her head. I looked into the mirror and saw Bob smile as he continued to drive.

We got home and I went straight to my room with Lexi hot on my trail. I turned my music on and laid on the bed. Lexi laid right beside me and wrapped her arms around me. From that point on, I couldn't move. I went to change the CD but Lexi tightened her grip.

Lexi: No...

I didn't say a word like normal and just stayed put like Lexi wanted. I put my arms back around Lexi and I felt funny. I don't know how else to describe how I felt other then just funny while I cuddled with Lexi.

Somewhere along the way, we ended up falling asleep. I don't even remember falling asleep. I just blinked and the next thing I knew Angie was in the doorway.

Angie: Kids?

I opened my eyes and looked down to see Lexi who was laying on top of me. I had my arms wrapped around her. She picked her head up and her gaze met mine.

Angie: Hey you two, dinner's ready. Come eat.

Angie left and walked down the hallway. Lexi got up first then I followed before we left my room. We walked to the dining room before we sat down to eat. We started eating and it was really awkward. We were all just sitting there quietly and the only real sounds were of silverware fitting the forks.

Angie: So, would anyone like to explain to me what the hell happened today?

Bob: Well, J decided to come home a little early.

Everyone except mom and I laughed.

Angie: Thank you. No, I meant why was he sent home. I know J is going to say anything so Lexi, honey do you know why?

Lexi looked down at her plate. She was really nervous and I picked up on it instantly. So, under the table I grabbed Lexi's hand and held it. She looked to me and I just looked in her eyes because I know when I look in her eyes, Lexi knows what I'm telling her.

Lexi: Well, I was trying to go to class and Kyle came up to me. He started messing with me and wouldn't leave me alone or let me go to class. Jack Jack came around and saw it. He heard what Kyle said to me and how he acted towards me and didn't like it. Jack Jack spun him around then Kyle started messing with Jack Jack and pushed him then Jack Jack punched him. He beat up Kyle until Mr.Roberts pulled him off. That's why we got sent home.

Angie was quiet for a second.

Angie: Is that true, J?

I nodded as I continued to look down. It was once again quiet for a second but I could feel Angie looking at me. She reached across the table and softly grabbed my face. She pulled it up and made me look at her. Angie then did something I didn't expect and smiled at me.

Angie: Thank you Baby.

I once again nodded before we went back to eating. After Lexi explained the situation, the mood was a lot lighter. Everyone was laughing and joking like normal well everyone except me so everything was back to normal.

A few hours later, we were all sitting in the living room. Bob, Angela, and Lexi were all on the couch while I was in my recliner I had bought in the corner of the room. We were watching a movie having family time. Lexi had microwaved some popcorn and put it in a big bowl then returned to her seat on the couch. It smelled really good and the aroma was getting to me.

Me(softly): Tinker Bell?

I saw the girls start to turn to look at me wide eyed but Bob discreetly signaled to them not too. I saw that out of the corner of my eye which even though I don't talk or look like I'm paying attention, I notice everything. It's the Quaterback in me coming out. I noticed that and I also saw Angie nudge Lexi and motion to me with her head.

Lexi: Y-yeah Jack Jack?

Me: Can I have some?

Lexi: Of course Jack Jack.

I got up out of my chair and slowly and cautiously made my way over to Lexi. I reached down and grabbed a handful of popcorn then looked up into Lexi's big blue eyes.

Me: T-Thank you...

Lexi: Of course Jack Jack.

I made my way back to my chair before I sat back down. I sat there eating my popcorn and watching the movie. I didn't talk again for the rest of the night. It was a good movie and after it was over, I went to bed.

I was sitting on my bed playing my acoustic guitar playing different riffs. I spent a lot of time playing different riffs because it helps me think. Justin was friends with Alice In Chains and my uncle Jerry from the band taught me how to play when I was 4. I'm just sitting here trying to figure out what came over me.

That was the first time in years I'd spoken when I wasn't playing football. That was the first time in years I'd actually even had the desire to speak. Soon, a knock came at the door that snapped me out of my thoughts. I set my guitar down and stood up off my bed. I walked up and opened the door being greeted Lexi.

Lexi: Goodnight Jack Jack I love you so much.

Lexi wrapped me up in a huge hug that I happily returned. Most people didn't get much of anything out of me especially when it came to any kind of display of emotion but I'd always hold Lexi when she wanted me to hold her whether it was a hug or a cuddle.

Me: Goodnight Lexi I love you too.

Lexi pulled back but looked up at me. She smiled brightly at me which actually helped me mentally. No matter what was going on whenever Lexi would smile at me, it'd make me feel a little better.

She didn't stay much longer before she left to her room. Once I saw that Lexi was in her room, I closed my door. I stood my guitar in the corner of the room before I laid down in bed. For the first time in a long time, I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow. I don't know if it was the fight or me finally speaking but I feel lighter almost...free.
