"Grandpa! Grandpa! Look!"

"We did it, Master Urokodak! We did it!"

You and Tanjiro showed Urokodaki your boulders you both have cutted in half. Urokodaki looks at Tanjiro's boulder and then at yours. You imagine he has a dumbfounded look on his face that you both actually succeed in cutting them in half.

"I had no intention of sending you both to Final Selection." Urokodai reveals. Tanjiro looked devastated while you pretended to be shocked at this reveal. "I didn't want to see children die anymore. I was sure you wouldn't be able to slice these boulders. Especially you, (Y/N). You were even weaker than Tanjiro. That's why I gave you the bigger boulder so that you'll fail and you won't go to Final Selection." He explains. Your (e/c) eyes widened when you realized Grandpa actually cares about you. You actually made an impact in his life. "But..." He gently patted both your heads. "Well done, my children. You're both remarkable kids."

Don't cry. This isn't worth crying for. I can't cry! But the waterworks fell when you saw Tanjiro crying. "Damn you, you cinnamon roll..." You sobbed.

Urokodaki pulls you both to embrace you. "Make sure you both come back alive from Final Selection. Both Nezuko and I will be waiting for you two here." He said.

"We will, Urokodaki san." Tanjiro promised.

The moment was ruined when your stomach loudly growled. "I'm hungry. All this training is making my stomach growl." You smiled.

The next thing you know, Urokodaki prepared a big meal for you all. Both you and Tanjiro were staring at the food wide-eyed as you drool a bit.

"What's the occasion? There's so much." Tanjiro asked.

"You completed your training, so we're celebrating." Urokodaki explains. He hands him a bowl before handing over yours. "Don't be shy. Eat up!"

"Thank you for the food!" You both prayed.

As you're munching down your dinner, Urokodaki looks at you both.

Tanjiro, (Y/N)...There's nothing more I can do for you. From here on out, you'll be going through some hardship and strife. Your training will be nothing in comparison. But as long as you're both together, you can overcome any tragedies coming your way, he thought. He sees you helping yourself for seconds and Tanjiro laughing when he points out you have a vegetable stuck between your teeth. Yes, you're both the children of the future, Urokodaki smiles underneath the mask.

After you finished eating, you both went back to your room where you're currently cutting Tanjiro's hair. "I can't believe you want me to cut your beautiful hair. What if I ruin it?" You said.

"You're doing fine, (Y/N) chan. I have faith in you." Tanjiro assured you.

"Thank you. After I'm done with you, I want you to cut my hair next."

His maroon eyes widen and his smile falters. "You want your hair to be cut? But you look so beautiful as it is."

You stop cutting his hair as an irk mark appears on your head. "Are you implying I looked ugly with short hair?" You threaten. Tanjiro gulps when he sees that your eyes don't match your smile. Plus the fact you're holding the scissors close to his neck didn't help.

"No, no! You always looked beautiful!" He panics.

"I'm just teasing you, Tanji." You smiled. He let out a sigh of relief. You chuckle a bit before resume cutting his hair. "The reason I want a haircut is to symbolize a new chapter in my life. If I survive Final Selection, I'm going to be a demon slayer. That's when my mission to save my brother will officially start." You explained.

"When you pass Final Selection. We're both going to be demon slayers together." Tanjiro corrected.

"You both better have." Urokodaki spoke. You both jumped up and turned around to see him sitting near you. It's amazing how quiet he is. "Remember this, a demon is as strong as the number of humans he's devoured." He reminded them.

"So the more they eat, the stronger they get?" Tanjiro asked.

"That's right. There are demons who gain power, become able to transform their bodies, and even use strange spells." He. answered. He got up from the floor and went over to the closet. You squealed in excitement knowing what he's about to give you. He hands you both a fox mask. You immediately put it on your face while Tanjiro inspected it. "It's called a 'warding mask'. I put a spell on it to protect you two from harm." Urokodaki explained.

"Well I like it!" You beamed.

Urokodaki bid you both farewell and went to sleep. You went back to cutting Tanjiro's hair after a few quick snips. Afterwards, Tanjiro cut your very long (h/c) hair.

You pull your (short/mid) hair into a high ponytail and smile in satisfaction. Grandpa went out of his way to buy you one as a small celebration gift. You then tied your blue haroi with clouds on it around. Finally, you secure your chained sword in your belt. Now you're patiently waiting for Tanjiro who is saying goodbye to his sister. Tanjiro steps outside, wearing the same matching haroi with Urokodaki behind him.

"Don't worry about your sister. I'll take good care of her." Urokodaki promised.

"Alright! Thank you very much!" Tanjiro smiled.

"I promise you we will return in one piece." You vowed.

Urokodaki steps forward and places his hands on the two teens. "I want you both to promise me you'll stick together and watch each other's backs." He requested.

"We will, Grandpa!" You promised.

The two of you went running off, but not before Tanjiro stops and waves at Urokodaki.

"Say hello to Sabito and Makomo!"

Damn, Tanjiro. If only you knew the truth.

The two of you ran to Mt. Fujikasane until nightfall. The entire time your smile never left your face. When you reach the mountain, you are mesmerized by the beauty of the wisteria flowers around. You caught a petal with your hand and admired it. That reminds me. You pulled out Hanabi's golden wisteria hair pin and tucked it on your hair. More wisteria petals danced around you making you glow. Tanjiro finds himself blushing on how beautiful you look. He quickly shakes those feelings off and focus on what's important.

"You seem awfully excited for this." Tanjiro said.

"Why wouldn't I be?" You smiled. "Next week we're gonna be demon slayers and I'll be powerful to save my brother."

"You're very brave, (Y/N) chan. I'm actually quite nervous." He admitted.

You hold his hand, causing him to blush (again). "As long as we stick together, nothing bad can happen to us."

"R-Right!"

The two of you ran excitedly up the stairs to start on your new journey. The moment you reach the top, you're in awe at seeing so many people. Then you lose your smile. All these people are gonna die. Their hopes and dreams will be shattered. How can you forget about that? These people aren't extras anymore. They're real and living breathing humans like you.

I just made myself feel sad...and oh my God it's my girl, Kanao! *Gasp* It's Pikachu! And Genya!... Now where's Peppa Pig? You began to scan around for the wild boy, but he's nowhere to be seen.

"Are you looking for someone?" Tanjiro asked.

"I um...um...I thought..."

You were luckily saved by the creepy twins.

"Everyone...We thank you for coming here tonight. To the Demon Slayer Corp Final Selection." Kanata and Kiriya greeted.

"There are demons imprisoned here on Mt. Fujikasane, captured alive by the demon slayer swordsman." Kanata began.

"That is because wisteria, which demons hate so much, blooms year round from the bottom to halfway up to the mountain." Kiriya continues.

"However, there is no wisteria from this point on, and so demon's abound." Kanata warns.

"You'll need to survive here for seven days to pass Final Selection." Kiriya said.

"And now be on your way." They bowed.

Everyone ran inside the forest to begin the test. You ran next to Tanjiro while everyone else went their separate ways. As long as you're with Tanjiro, you'll be safe.

"I think we should head east where the sun will rise first. That way we'll be safe from demons." You said.

"Great idea, (Y/N) chan. I was thinking the same thing." Tanjiro agrees. "Follow me!"

Thank God for Tanjiro! Cause I have no idea where the fuck is east. As you're running, Tanjiro suddenly stops. "I smell a demon! But I can't tell from where."

You already know where. "Above!" You warned.

The two of you jumped away from the surprise ambush. Tanjiro already has his sword out and you hook up your chain onto your sword and spin it around. The demon was about to attack them again, but he instead got attacked by another demon.

"Damn you!" He yelled. He begins to fight the other demon. "Don't even try to grab my prey!"

"The hell with you! Beat it!" The other one replied.

You and Tanjiro watched the two demons fight each other.

"I want the girl!"

"No! She's mine!"

That's when they both dashed for the teens. You and Tanjiro ran towards them before separating to take down one of each.

"No one's getting her! Water Breathing, Fourth Form: Striking Tide!" Tanjiro yells. He easily chops the demon's head off in one strike.

"Dance Breathing, Sixth Form: Salsa!" You yelled. You came to a halted stop and spun your sword in a huge circle. The demon didn't see the blade coming and that cost his head. "Oh my God! I got my first kill! I actually killed a demon!" You exclaimed.

"Rest in peace." Tanjiro prayed. You sweat drop before feeling bad for yourself. Here you are being excited for your first kill while the cinnamon roll still has compassion for one. Tanjiro suddenly starts to sniff around the air. "What's this rotten smell?" He asked.

You grip the chain and hilt tighter knowing the hand demon was about to show up. On cue, you both heard screaming.

"No one ever told me! I never signed up for this!"

A boy is seen running away and you see the silhouette of the hand demon. Tanjiro looked horrified when the demon came to view. You looked away when you saw him opening up his mouth and eating the corpse.

"What's this morphed demon doing here anyway? They didn't tell us!" The boy cries out.

The demon extended his hands and grabbed onto the boy. I know the boy dies later on, so there's no point in saving him. But I can't stand around and do nothing! You ran forward with both your hands grabbing onto the hilt.

"Dance Breathing, Third Form: Disco!"

"Water Breathing, Second Form: Water Wheel!"

You both cut the arms off the demon thus saving the boy. You caught the boy in your arms and led him gently on the ground. "You okay?" You asked.

"Y-Yeah..." He nodded.

The hand demon notices the fox masks on them.

"Another sweet little foxes has come to me." He spoke.

"'Another'?" Tanjiro asked.

"Little fox cubs, what is the year of Meiji now?" The hand demon asked.

"It's the Taisho Period now!" Tanjiro answered.

"Taisho?" He mutters. He lets out an ear piercing scream. "Time has passed into a new period?!" The hand demon begins to scratch himself hard enough to draw blood. "Again! Again while I've been held prisoner inside the place! Unforgivable! Damn you, Urokodaki! Damn you!" The demon screams.

"Don't curse out Grandpa!" You shouted.

"Why should I not!? He is the one who captured me!" He yells back.

"Well duh! You're a demon who eats people! You deserve to have your head cut off instead!" You screamed.

"Now I'm stuck here vowing to eat all of his students!" He begins to count out loud on all the children he ate. He then points at you and Tanjiro. "You guys are gonna be my thirteen and fourteen students of his I will eat."

"That's not gonna happen!" Tanjiro declares.

"That's what they all say." The demon replied. "There are two who stuck out the most to me. One was a small girl wearing a flowery kimono. She wasn't strong, but she was very agail. When I described how I ate Urokodaki's students, she flew into a fit of rage and lost control. I tore her limbs apart."

You suddenly remember Makomo's gentle face and how kindly she treated you even though you weren't mastering a single water form. You saw this scene multiple times and you felt nothing for them. But you actually got to know her the past six months. You wouldn't have cut the boulder without her.

"Shut up." You seethed. Your entire body begins to tremble.

"And the other one was a boy with a strange hair color. He had pinkish hair and a scar running down his right cheek." The demon continues.

Now it's Tanjiro's turn to be trembling in anger. All this time, you never once saw these characters are actually people. Their tragedies are some sick form of entertainment for people back in the real world.

More images of Makomo flashed through your head. Then you see Hanabi's and Mei's faces smiling at you. The entire Wisteria Dancer crew laughing with you. And then your sweet baby brother handing you a flower. All those good memories are replaced by the carnage Doma left behind. Leo crying out for you as he got taken by the rainbow bastard.

"AAAHHHH!" You screamed. You blindly charged at the hand demon with your sword raise.

"(Y/N) chan, don't!" Tanjiro shouts.

But you ignored him and kept on running. How dare these demons brag about how many humans they ate. How dare the universe drag you and Leo to a world you guys have nothing to do with!

"Dance Breath-"

You get caught off by the demon when he sends out multiple hands to punch you. You quickly spin your sword around to cut a few down, but one managed to get past you and you felt the punch.

"(Y/N) CHAN!" Tanjiro screams. His blood freezes cold when he sees you flying away from him like a rag doll. There's so much blood in this area I can't even smell to know if she's okay, Tanjiro panics.

Your body breaks a couple of tree branches along the way before landing on the ground. You coughed out blood, but you don't feel anything broken inside you. Though your entire body aches like crazy. You stab the ground to support yourself back up.

"Holy shit!" You exclaimed. About 100 tree branches have been broken due to your fall. How the hell are you still alive after being thrown that far? "Tanjiro!? Tanjiro?! Can you hear me?!" You called out.

There is only silence. It's official. You're nowhere near Tanjiro and the hand demon. I have to get back to Tanjiro as quickly as possible to help him take down the hand demon. But before you can even take two steps, a large female demon pops out of the bushes. You barely blocked her sharp nails with your sword.

The female demon is about eight feet tall and has lavender skin, golden slit eyes, and three horns on her temples and forehead. When she takes a proper look at you, she grins.

"Ara, ara. It's been over a year since I ate a female. All that time I only ran into boys. I bet you taste real sweet." She purred.

I don't have time for this! I need to get to Tanjiro! You begin to spin your chained sword around and look at the demon with a straight face. "Nope! I'm a bitter bitch." You replied.

The demon shoots out her nails at an alarming pace. You flip away from all ten nails. To your utter shock, her nails obliterated every tree it landed on. Note to self! I'm a goner if a single nail hits me anywhere! Luckily I have the perfect move to save me. You kept on running as the demon shoots out more of her nails.

"You're gonna tire yourself out. If you surrender, I promise you I'll eat you in one bite." She giggles.

"Dance Breathing, Seventh Form: Zumba!"

You rapidly begin to spin your sword around that shows a silver circle. All the nails bounce off your blade, destroying all the nearby trees. You then throw your sword on the demon's chest and use the chains to throw yourself on her. You scissor kicked her and landed on her shoulders.

"What are you doing?!" She cries out. She attempted to grab you, but you used your chains to tie her hands together. Then you pull out your sword and unhook the chain. The demon's golden eyes shrinks when she sees you aiming the sword at her neck. "P-Please don't...I'll be good. I'll be a good girl...I don't want to die." She pleaded.

But her pleas fell on deaf ears and you swing your sword. You landed on your feet as her body began to disappear. You calmly hook the chain back on while ignoring the demon's cries. Now to find Tanjiro.
