I had of course found out that I was a seer but I hadn't tested out those powers yet. I decided that today would be the day so I went to the library and loaned out a book about seers. It told me that I had to channel my inner self and bring it out in my powers. First signs of power show as a child and they consist of short dreams that often come true. I had of course sensed this as a child and a few of my dreams did come true. I say dreams but they were pretty much nightmares about being beat until I resembled a prune, being bullied and on occasion getting angry and exploding glass. I read through the first page titled, your inner spirit.

Well that was fairly informative of what I have to do if I really cared about the deepness of looking at the future. I think that crystal gazing will be the easiest to start with. I might as well go and ask whether I could borrow a crystal ball to practice with.

I walked up to the room at the top of the north tower. On the roof was a small circular door. Dumbledore had told me about here incase I needed something to practice with. I knocked on the door and a mystical voice rang out and answered a "come in", a ladder then dropped from the roof and I climbed it into a small circular room that was slightly stuffy and filled with decorative pillows and tables.

"and who would you be" the mystical voice rang from the corner.

"Good afternoon professor, my names Lyla" I answered, she walked out of the corner and I saw a lady with overly large glasses come from the shadows. She smelled strongly of perfume and reminded me a little bit of a fly. Dumbledore did warn me that she was slightly crazy and not a very good seer so whatever happens I was not to get angry with her if she said I was wrong.

"Well Lyla, my name is professor Trelawny, what brings you here, first years don't do divination" She said.

"I would like some help, Professor Dumbledore said I was a seer and I would like training to get my skills up" I said. Her face lit up into a smile and she gestured for me to take a seat, the heat of the room and the perfume relaxed me and I felt ready to see the future. Professor Trelawney bustled around the room and brought out a rather dusty looking crystal ball. She placed it down in front of me and sat down opposite it.

"Now focus on the swirling mist and tell me what you see" She asked in a mystical voice. I looked into it and focused all my thoughts into the white swirling mist. It changed to form an image of a large three headed dog that fell asleep to the sound of a harp playing music. Then it changed to show Ron lying on the ground covered in blood and Hermione trying to save him. Then there was Harry looking dead on the floor. I told this to the professor and she smiled.

"Lovely, now that's all for now, if you want more regular lessons come and visit at any time given it's not in school hours or at any time i'm in this room, goodbye" She said this all very quickly as she pushed me towards the trapdoor.

"Thank you professor, could I-" I called before the door was shut in my face. Wow, I didn't really like her, she was very calm and collected but very pushy and she seemed to be fairly jealous of my ability. I went to Dumbledore's office to see if I could get him to get me a crystal ball seeing as she wasn't very keen to give me one herself. Thats where I heard a conversation.

"She knows too much, it's dangerous" I heard Snape saying, he was fairly angry sounding and I wondered who he was talking about.

"She is perfectly capable of knowing when to much is too much, surely you of all people Severus should know that she is exactly like her mother" Dumbledore answered calmly in reply.

"and I knew her mother very well, she was very clever and when it came to knowing stuff then she would put her knowledge to the test"

"Knowledge needs to be put to the test, it's a natural part of life, her and her brother will go down and protect the stone when they think it right, I will give them enough time to fight for themselves before I come and help them finish"

"Very well headmaster, you know what's right, but you have considered the risks"

"Yes I have and they are enough for them to handle" I sensed the end of the conversation so I retreated backwards and advanced again to knock. Just as I was about to walk up again professor Snape walked out through the door. He smiled at me and I grinned back.

"Good afternoon professor" I greeted.

"Good afternoon Lyla" he said as he strode past me and down the stairs. I went and knocked on the door.

"Come in" called Dumbledore. I walked in and he gestured towards a chair. "and why would you be here" he asked.

"I went to professor Trelawney, I managed to see something in the crystal ball but she kicked me out before I could ask her for one to practice on, could you loan one for me"

"Sure thing Lyla, and you won't die saving the stone, nor will Harry, trust me" He nodded as an end of conversation. I stood up and walked out of the room thanking Dumbledore before I left. I made my way to the Gryffindor common room to finish some homework, to find a crystal ball sitting on my bed. I mentally thanked Dumbledore and hid it away in my drawer. I'd had enough future seeing for one day. I went to sleep thinking about the future,

I walked into the great hall today and over to Hermione, "So 'mione, what do we have today" I asked her. I tended to use her as my human map and she was happy enough to tell me what we had.

"Charms and transfiguration before potions and herbology finally finishing up with double Defence against the dark arts"

I groaned. A double with Quirrell, this was going to be terrible. Well I said terrible but it turned out to be so much more than terrible. Quirrell was know treating me dreadfully after I uncovered his secret and this lesson, all he did was speak for the entire thing. His stuttering gave me a headache and the two hours I had in that classroom felt like a decade. We were finally finished and I sprinted out of the class just in case he called me back in.

I walked alone to the great hall and went and sat down to save seats for my friends. They all came trudging back in and I called them over. That night we ate dinner in silence. I don't know why but whenever someone tried to make a conversation it just disappeared. The great hall slowly emptied and soon we were pretty much the only people there. I was thinking about Quirrell and what adult I might be able to trust with the information I had gathered. I knew that if someone found out he would trace it back to me. Then I jumped up.

"You guys, I have to go somewhere" I ran off ignoring their protests and yelling for me to tell them what I was doing. I ran down the stairs towards the dungeon. If there was a teacher that I could trust with this information, then it would be Snape. I knocked on the door to his classroom and heard a come in.

"Professor Snape, I need to tell you something"

"Ah, Lyla" he gave me a small smile which I returned.

"I assume that you know about the philosophers stone. The thing that dogs guarding on the third floor" I started by asking him a question. He gave me a startled look but nodded anyway.

"Well Quirrell's trying to steal it" I made lowered my voice and continued "I walked past the door one night while people were having dinner. I heard him talking to someone, this guy had a deep, cold voice and was saying that they had all the information to get to the stone but they were missing one teachers, that was yours. Quirrell then came out and grabbed me and said that if anyone knew he would trace it back to me and i'd suffer serious consequences. I had to go to someone" I was worried, what if Snape didn't believe me or Quirrell found out that he knew and I was tortured. Snape saw my worry and reassured me.

"Don't worry Lyla, your secrets safe with me, and I believe you" he added. "I always had a slight suspicion that Quirrell was not to be trusted, that's why only Dumbledore knows what my trap is" I smiled at his intense knowledge. Harry's first Quidditch match finalised Snape's suspicions.

Harry walked onto the field, he looked slightly green and I knew that he was nervous. The match started and Gryffindor were in the lead. Then all of a sudden, Harry's broom gave a huge lurch. The broom looked like it was trying to kick Harry off and it wasn't long before everyone was looking at Harry with either fear in their eyes or laughter. I was so scared of what might happen to Harry when Hermione pulled me out of my trance. She pointed over and said that Snape was jinxing the broom.

I looked over and saw Snape muttering quickly under his breath. Than my eyes flicked over to Quirrell who had his eyes locked on Harry's broom, his face was in deep concentration and he too, was muttering under his breath. I was beyond angry, I was furious, he was trying to kill Harry. I was so angry that I didn't even notice Hermione leave until I saw her at the teachers stand. She knocked Quirrell over which broke his contact but she lit Snape's robes on fire. Then I heard a huge sigh of relief come from the crowd before there were many gasps.

I whipped around and saw Harry in a spectacular dive. He landed on the floor before he started coughing and looking like he was going to be sick. I screamed before he coughed out the snitch. I ran down onto the field with everyone else before we all walked back up to the common room. I stayed there and celebrated with the rest of the Gryffindors, telling myself I would go and talk to Snape in the morning.

The morning came and I woke up at six and thought that I might just be able to sneak out a go talk to Snape. I went and got ready for the morning and by the time I was ready, the curfew had lifted meaning I could go and wander around the castle. I decided to bring a bag with some of my homework so I could go and finish it after my talk to Professor Snape.

I ran down the stairs and outside of the common room before slowing to a walk. I was glad that I bought a jumper because the dungeons were freezing. I knocked on Snape's door and hopped that he was awake. Sure enough he came to the door already completely ready but still looking slightly grumpy. He did however give me a swift smile as he invited me in.

"Thank you" were the only words that came out of my mouth. I had not mentally prepared myself for this and I was fighting back the tears that threatened to engulf me. "I know that you have a grudge against my brother and that was something huge to do for someone you don't like" I gave him another smile and it was returned.

"Your father and I were enemies at school. We really disliked each other but one day your father got cold feet and saved me at the last moment from a prank that could've killed me. The only way that I could repay his deed was to save his son" I was astounded but not angry. I knew that everyone has enemies, and this was taken from personal experience. I pondered for a moment before remembering the reason I was here was to talk about Quirrell.

"Professor, we need more information on Quirrell" he smiled before explaining to me the conversation he had with Quirrell after the quidditch match.

"It sounds as though he's going to do it soon and just hope that my room isn't that bad" I smiled knowing that Snape's' room would probably be really hard. At least it should give enough time for back up to get there and stop him from stealing the stone. I gave him one last smile and was walking out of the room when called me back.

"Oh and Lyla, let's just keep this between us, ok" I nodded before skipping out of the room and to the great hall. I collected some toast and butter before skipping outside to a tree next to the lake. I finished off the last part of my homework (an essay on animagus) before checking the last of my bread into the lake for the squid and walking back to the castle to see my friends.

Sorry it took so long to update. School has just started back and I am way to tired and lazy to do anything on after school evenings except for lying back and doing something that doesn't cause effort. Homework is piling in though so if I don't get chapters up frequently then blame it on the homework.

Thats all and thanks for reading,
