y/n Diggory has been dating Ron for a while and everything seems swell until things take a turn for the worse...

Ron and I had been dating for about 6 months now, it seemed as though things were going fine. We had known each other for years, our parents were good friends so we spent a lot of time together growing up but it was only until last year that we started considering the idea that we might feel more for each other than we thought.

The last task of the Triwizard tournament was fast approaching and the atmosphere around the school was really tense. There was this weird sense of rivalry between Ron and me since my brother Ced, was competing and so was his best friend Harry. But when we were alone we didn't think about that at all.

"Why don't we go to the courtyard?" I asked him after potions.

"Harry asked me for help with the tournament sorry." he shrugged me off before running off. I noticed he'd been doing that a lot lately and at first it didn't bother me since I knew Harry needed the help but lately it had started getting on my nerves.

"Okay-" I barely finished saying before he was already outside.

I walked out of the classroom and decided to head back to the Hufflepuff common room, seeing that there wasn't much else to do. I decided to take the long way just to make more time when I ran into Ced who looked like he was hiding.

"Woah, you alright?" I laughed.

"Sorry Sis, the girls, they've been following me for a while and I just managed to get away from them." He started walking with me.

"Oh yes, my brother's newfound fame." I poked fun at him.

"Where are you going? Why aren't you with Ron?" He asked.

"He said he needed to help Harry with the tournament." I brushed it off, trying not to sound upset. "Are you ready with that by the way?" I quickly asked.

"Uhmm yeah, I'm not really sure what to expect but I've been training." He kept turning his head to check for anyone who might be following him.

"I'm sorry about not spending more time with you, you know considering your successes and all, but I hope you know I'm very proud of you Cedi." he hated that nickname.

He looked down at me, a bright smile forming on his lips. "Thank you, sis, I really appreciate that." I could see he was really happy to hear that.

We continued walking to the Hufflepuff common room and we were just passing the great hall when I saw Harry walking into the hall with Hermione.

"Harry, is Ron with you?" I asked him.

"No, he told me he was with you." He answered confused.

I had a weird feeling in my stomach. "Okay." I continued walking and Cedric was right behind me.

"What happened?" Cedric asked me.

"I don't know," I answered him as we kept walking. We were close to turning a corner when we heard giggling.

And a couple of seconds later Ron and Lavander popped out. He had his arm around her waist and she kissed his cheek as they both giggled away.

"I should've known." I scoffed, I felt tears filling my eyes as I shoved past him taking the stairs to the Hufflepuff common room.

"y/n wait! let me explain." I didn't bother turning around.

"You stay the hell away from my sister Weasley! Do you hear me!" I heard Ced behind me before the door to the common room shut behind me.

____

Cedric had been the best, he hadn't told anyone about what happened between Ron and I and he made sure I was never alone when I wasn't in class. Ron tried approaching me several times down the halls but I always ignored him, he'd wasted enough of my time already.

"Excuse me, Professor Flitwick, may I borrow Mrs. y/l/n and Mr. Weasley." McGonagall had come into class.

"Of course." He replied. I got up and Ron did too and we walked out of the class.

"Alright so we have planned a surprise for the Triwizard Champions, Mr.Weasley you'll be part of Mr.Potter's surprise of course." She led us through the castle. She walked really fast so Ron and I were staying behind.

"y/n I'm so sorry," Ron whispered to me as we walked after McGonagall.

"Ron I don't want to hear it." I rolled my eyes annoyed.

"I never meant to hurt you." That was the last straw for me.

I turned around making him stop. "What the hell did you expect from cheating on me? That I would thank you? That I'd be happy for you?" I was so angry. "Hurting me was the only outcome out of that situation." I felt my breathing getting heavier. "All the time I wasted on you...I should've been there for my brother instead, he's going to win this, I just hope you're there for Harry unlike you were for me." I finished.

He opened his mouth but he obviously didn't know what to say. I turned around and kept following after McGonagall picked up my step until I finally caught up with her. We got to a room which I didn't fully recognize but once she opened the door I saw Mom and dad were there.

"Mom? Dad?" I walked over to hug them. "What are you doing here?" I was happy to see them but confused.

"Dumbledore thought this might be a nice surprise for the champions, a little cheering up before the final task." Mom explained.

"Oh, y/n Dear." Molly had walked over engulfing me in a tight hug. "It's so nice to see you." I loved Molly, I always had but this time it was different. I realized she had no idea what had happened between Ron and me.

And as much as I was angry at Ron right now I didn't have the heart to tell Molly what he had done to me, the way he had hurt me. Ron looked at me, pain and shame in his eyes expecting me to say something, to rat him out. "It's really nice to see you too Mrs.Weasley, I'm glad you're all here." I faked a smile.

"Oh, Molly please." She had that bright beautiful smile she always did. "I expect to see you at Christmas alright, I'm sure Ron's invited you already." She smiled.

"of course." I felt a knot in my throat but held it together.

______

It was finally time for the final task, I was sitting a row behind Mom and dad, Ron and Hermione sitting two rows behind me.

The champions lined up at the different entrances to the maze, Cedric turned around and gave me one last smile, and a wink before going in, I waved and blew him a kiss. I was so nervous, I believed he could win this but I also knew that there was no way it was going to be easy.

The canons went off and in they went. Everyone outside listened nervously and looked up at the sky waiting to see any signs of spells or a red spark. It felt like the waiting went on forever until we saw the first spark shoot up.

I stood up nervously hoping it wasn't Cedric and sure enough it wasn't, Fleur Delacour was carried out of the maze.

Sometime later Victor Krum walked out of the maze, I felt my stomach churn from the nerves of realizing that now it was between Cedric and Harry. "C,mon Ced, C,mon." I whispered to myself.

A long time passed, the band started playing and a couple of people began distracting themselves in their conversations. Until finally we saw Harry and Cedric appear at the same time.

Everyone stood up to cheer including my parents but I knew something was wrong, I could feel it. I started walking down the steps, my brother becoming more and more visible. I looked up and saw Harry was sobbing.

"No!" It was like my mind knew what happened but my heart just wouldn't accept it. "No!" I ran to my brother.

"y/n he's dead, Voldemort killed him, I'm so sorry." Harry cried.

"No-no-no. Cedric wake up! Cedric, please wake up, I need you." Some part of me expected Cedric to open his eyes and that everything would be okay.

"He's dead, the boy is dead." I heard someone behind me.

"No please Cedric, please wake up." I finally started crying, my voice choking up. "NOOOO!" I screamed.

I watched as the realization also hit my parents, I couldn't watch this, I couldn't do this. I got up and it was like everything was muffled, I stumbled as I tried walking away, being caught by people who I didn't even bother looking at.

"y/n!" I heard someone calling my name but it was muffled. I looked up and saw Ron, so much pain in his eyes. "y/n-" I heard his mouth moving but I didn't know what he was saying to me.

"I should've been there for him." I couldn't stop crying. I pried myself off his grip walking forward as far as I could before my knees gave out. He was gone, my brother, my best friend, was dead.
