chapter three.

GETTING REVENGE on the teacher who gave her detention was a perfect way to end the day. and the fact she wasn't the only one who wanted to do it, made it even better for venus.

after zach had made the suggestion, the ten students moved together to sit around one table, venus bringing her chair to sit down next to corbyn, giving his girlfriend beside him a big smile.

"wait zoey you aren't going to get involved in this are you? wouldn't want to ruin your perfect relationship with mr. bennett." venus asked, her eyebrow raised as she watched zoey attempt to give her a dark glare, when it instead just looked like she had something in her eye- and that was why she narrowing her eyes.

"fuck off venus." zoey snapped, venus clamping her mouth shut to stop her from laughing.

"uh-oh not very friendly." she teased, earning a roll of the eyes from zoey. venus glanced up to corbyn, to see him already looking at her, a smug look on his face. leaning toward him, venus hit his face, not very hard, but hard enough to make him stop looking at her.

elodie from where she was sat beside daniel and zach, shook her head at her best friend- venus seeing this, making her let out a laugh.

with theodora sitting herself down next to jonah once the two rejoined the group from looking at the book he gave her, they sat at the top of the table- even though theodora didn't look entirely comfortable with pranking the teacher.

considering mia was texting on her phone, ruby took the opportunity to take the free seat that was at the table- not wanting to grab her own chair and have to decide where she would want to sit.

the only seat that was free around the table, was beside zach. so when she sat down, he gave her a quick smile before looking around at the group of students.

"hey mia!" she glanced up from her phone, seeing everyone sat down already. she mumbled something to herself about how they interrupted her in the middle of a text she was writing. but when zach spoke up next, mia was quick to want to move.

"hey daniel- grab the chair behind you so mia has a chair." daniel did exactly that, grabbing the chair from the table behind him, dragging it so the chair was positioned next to him. mia saw zach give her a quick smirk before ushering her over once again.

she waited no time getting up, but made it look like she wasn't too eager to sit next to daniel, when in fact mia was slightly excited to do so. after all, she did have a crush.

she exchanged a smile with daniel as she took her seat. daniel returned one briefly before turning his head to focus his attention back onto zach who looked like he was ready to plan out the course of action for pranking mr bennett.

elodie wiggled her eyebrows at mia, earning a middle finger in response- that overall just making elodie let out a little laugh. she now had something to tease mia about if she ever got on her nerves or thought about gossiping about her. which mia wouldn't do, but elodie still wanted a plan incase that did happen.

"i say we toilet paper his office."

"boring. be more original." venus hit back at corbyn's opening suggestion. he scoffed at the girl, making venus send a sarcastic middle finger his way.

"yeah corbyn that's boring." zach added on, earning a high five from venus.

"don't worry babe, i thought it was a great idea." zoey spoke quietly to corbyn, giving his hand a squeeze.

"ew you're still here? stop trying to suck up to corbyn- he clearly doesn't like it."

the group of detention students all put the mini conversations they may have been having, all of their attention instead on the two girls who were looking at one another. both having two different expressions- venus held a smirk, her eyebrow raised as she waited for zoey to try and attempt at winning this argument. whereas zoey's eyebrows were furrowed, a makeshift attempt at having a scowl on her face also being present.

"he is my boyfriend- so clearly i can suck up to him all i want."

"oh hasn't anyone told you? your sucking game sucks, just ask your boyfriend there."

a cough and the sound of someone choking was heard, venus drifting her eyes away from zoey- who practically had steam coming out of her ears- and onto corbyn, who had attempted to have taken a sip of his water as that comment was made. sounds of low whistles were heard from the boys, the girls either letting out gasps or staying quiet- well except for elodie who leaned across to high five her best friend- pride written across her face.

theodora leaned her head on jonah's shoulder, the two quieter ones of the bunch watching as zoey began to lash out at a calm looking venus, who leaned back on her chair, nodding her head at the shouting girl. without evening speaking or looking at the girl, jonah grabbed ahold of theodora's hand, giving it a squeeze.

he knew the girl hated any type of arguments and fights, her having practically grown up around them all of her life. so even though there was fighting between two people theodora didn't necessarily know, jonah did know that it was making theodora uncomfortable, and bringing out her anxiety around the whole situation.

leaning into his pocket, jonah opened theodora's hand that was resting on her leg, placing his airpod case in her palm.

"i'll let you know when it's finished." jonah mumbled against his best friends head before planting a kiss. theodora smiled, leaning up to look at jonah, mentally telling him thank you before grabbing the airpods, placing them in her ears, her phone instantly connecting and playing music- blocking out her surroundings.

"oh the dram-ma" mia sang out, elodie looking at the girl, giving her a shake of the head. mia shrugged her shoulders before leaning forward, her elbows resting against the table- allowing her a better view of the argument still being held between the two teenage girls.

"I don't think we've properly met." ruby jumped at the suddenness of zach's voice beside her. she looked up from her sketchbook, seeing a small smile displayed across the boys face. he watched as the brunette girl returned the smile briefly.

"ruby," she simply said, the corners of zach's lips twitching further upwards. he glanced down at her sketchbook before meeting her eyes once more.

"zach," he introduced himself bringing his finger down to point at the sketchbook on the table. "wait you're in the music club right?" ruby nodded, zach watching as she slowly pulled the sketchbook away, not wanting anyone to see her halfway finished art projects. "-i thought so, i thought i recognised you."

"hey zoey- why don't you just fuck off yeah? go fix yourself up in the bathroom and give us all a break from your fucking shouting- your lack of ability to argue is making me lose brain cells." elodie interrupted zoey eventually, earning a narrowing of the eyes. elodie wasn't phased, her pointing towards the exit of the library, to which zoey left.

"why did you do that? i was enjoying that."

"suck a dick avery." elodie hissed, jack giving her a smirk, taunting the girl who had become his enemy after the prank he played on her all those years back.

"still not happy to see me then?"

"i will be happy to see you dead." elodie hit out, mia letting out a laugh as she made eye contact with daniel who also let out a laugh. "you're so annoying that even if i murder you here, nobody will come to your funeral."

"okay can you two stop with the beginning of your enemies to lovers trope you have going on and let us get back to the plan at hand please?" zach shouted out, making jonah looking down at theodora whose eyes were closed with her head still resting on his shoulder.

"is she okay?" ruby asked jonah, bringing his eyes up from the sleeping go on his shoulder and now onto the brunette girl who was looking at him alongside zach. jonah nodded his head, insisting theodora was fine, making zach and ruby bring themselves back to the discussion being held at the table as the topic of pranking mr.bennett came back around.

"how about we do the trick where you place stuff above his door as he opens it?" jack suggested, earning a few 'ooos' from around the table. elodie rolled her eyes, leaning back on her chair- even though she semi-liked the idea jack had suggested, she would never admit that, as his ego would sky rocket.

that and he would taunt her about it, and elodie couldn't guarantee she wouldn't push jack in front of a bus or out of the window because of it.

"we could do it with weights?"

"vee, i don't fancy helping you cover up a murder today." corbyn commented to the girl for the first time since his girlfriend left the room. he got a shrug in return, bringing a chuckle to escape his lips.

"we could do water though?" daniel suggested, mia pointing at him to show that she agreed with him- that only fuelling elodie's smirk as she made eye contact with mia, once again mia giving elodie the middle finger.

jonah watched as ideas were thrown about, making him give the sleepy girl resting against his shoulder a gentle shake. it didn't take long for theodora to open her eyes, bringing them up to meet jonah's- smiles visible on both of their faces.

"you okay?" he asked her, theodora nodding her head as she gave him back the airpods- even with jonah insisting she kept them for the rest of the detention period.

"or a bucket of ping pong balls?" ruby suggested, a look of surprisement and happiness coming onto zach's face beside her. she watched him get all excited, making her let out a laugh to cover up the confusion as to why he was so happy with her suggestion.

"oh you're so smart ruby- fancy a trip to the gymnasium guys?"
