So it's Friday and I am sitting in the cafeteria ready to kill Holden. Yesterday I made it half the lunch hour which I thought was super but Holden thought it wasn't good enough so now he is holding my hand so I couldn't run away. And our table is a little fuller then it was yesterday. There is bouncing blond that will not take her eyes off of Holden, the very scary dude that won't take his eyes off the blond and the little short dude that is giving me the creeps. He keep looking at me and then at Holden. Oh and then there is my sister and one of her friends Constance.
"What are you doing this weekend?" Bouncy blond asked Holden.
"Well tomorrow I promised my mom I would help her finish unpacking. And Sunday I am hanging with Lucas." He said smiling at me. I gave him a small smile but then went back to eating my pre-made lunch.
"You work on Sunday don't you, Luc?" My sister asked.
"In the morning." I said frowning a little. Before nobody knew what I was doing or cared.
"I am going to come by and pick him up when he gets off." Holden said.
"Is that a good idea?" Lacey asked what I had been thinking since he told me what he was doing. All I could do is shrug to her question.
"I already know what the two of you are thinking because Landon had the same question and I made him tell me why and let's just not get into that right now but anyways I am okay with it." Holden said smiling at the two of us.
"Are the two of you a couple?" Little short dude asked Holden and I.
"Nope, not yet." Holden said with a wink to me. What the hell? I just shook my head and tried to hide the blush.
"So what your gay?" Bouncy blond asked looking upset.
"Yep" Holden said smiling at her. I don't think he had a clue but scary guy did and the smile on his face was priceless. I smiled at him and nodded for him to comfort his friend he did with a wink to me. Awe young love.
"So tell me how does it feel to make it through your first lunch?" Holden asked just before the bell rang.
"Alright, I mean you broke bouncing blond's heart but made scary dude happy. Little dude I think he is creepy but likes you also. And it was weird finding out that Landon told you about what is going on at home. It seems to me that Lacey is truly trying to be my sister and I really like having you as a friend so if this is what I have to do then I guess it was alright." I said as we walked towards my locker.
"You got all that from one lunch?" he asked with a smirk.
"Well yeah, I guess I have had a long time to study people and when I am around a bunch of people that is what I do." I said.
"So Jarred likes Haylee and Mitch might be a closet gay. I would have never figured that out." He said laughing.
"Jarred is he the big scary dude?" I asked.
"Yeah"
"I think he might be friendly towards me because he winked at me when I nodded for him to comfort Haylee." I said.
"If you get a wink or a smile out of him you are golden." Holden said laughing harder.
"As long as he isn't on the bad side I like that he is on my side." I said.
"There are more people on your side then you think." Holden said taking my hand. He has been doing this a lot. I just let it happen at first I pulled away but now I go with the flow. When we turned the corner to go to our locker I felt a little bad because we almost walked right into Harvey. He saw our hands and took off looking a little hurt. Well fuck him.
"I will see you Sunday but I will call you tonight after work." Holden said once we made it to my locker.
"Okay, I hope you have a good weekend." I said.
"I will, I will be seeing you." he said with a smile and a wink. I felt the blush but didn't try and hide it I just smiled and shook my head at him as he walked away.
The rest of the school day flew by. I was more then happy to walk into work because I needed to be doing something I was bored out of my mind. And Friday's were busy for us so I knew that I would be on my toes for a better part of the night.
I was right it was busy as hell at work. I was almost wishing someone else worked with me because I couldn't seem to get a break. Closing time went longer then I wanted it to but I had to put all the returns away and then lock up and set the alarm. I stopped by Taco Bell on my way home grabbing enough in case Landon and Lacey were up and hungry.
Landon's car was home but Lacey was gone when I got home. I walked in with my bag of food and my book bag and headed up to my room. I was shocked to see a bed okay it wasn't really a bed but it would work. Oh and I had a couple totes I could put my clothes in woot woot. I chuckled to myself as I went to knock on Landon's door.
"Are you hungry?" I asked when he opened his door.
"Sure what did you bring?" He asked.
"Taco Bell"
"Awesome, be there in a second." he said closing his door.
I went back to my room and set out the food using my new blow up mattress as a table for the food. I decided to turn on of the totes into a night stand and set my phone that I was charging on top of it. I needed to buy a new alarm clock but I didn't know if I wanted to do that just yet.
"What the hell is that?" Landon asked coming in my room.
"Well I think this is my new bed." I said laughing.
"Really, well then. And the totes?" He asked.
"My new dresser." I said laughing harder.
"She is such a bitch. I can't believe I didn't see it." He said looking around my room. It was so plan that it didn't even really looked lived in for 17 years. I used to have toys and stuff but she took it all away. I would steal tennis balls and shit from school just to have something to play with in my room when I was younger but she found those so I gave up.
"Yeah well ten more months and we are 18 and I will not have to deal with her shit anymore." I said after finishing my last taco.
"If we stay here. I am really hoping dad gets that place. Maybe we can talk him into letting us stay in the apartment. I don't know him well enough to want to live with him." Landon said.
"That would be great. I would love to get to know him but I don't want to live with a stranger." I said.
"Lacey is going to move whether we do or not. She has this whole dream of becoming a daddies girl. She has always wanted to have him take her to one of the father daughter dances they have at school and this year she just might get it." He said.
"I hope you guys know that I don't want to be any ones favorite. I like to sit in the back ground." I said.
"Not if Holden has anything to do about it." He said chuckling.
"That boy" was all I could say.
"I think he likes you." He said laughing now.
"I am not ready for a relationship yet besides he could do way better. I mean look at him. Okay sorry but you if you was a girl or gay you would be all over him trust me." I said chuckling.
"I can see hotness in girls and guys. I love girls though and his sister is one fine looking girl." He said making me gasp then bust up laughing.
"What are you two laughing about?" Lacey said coming in and joining us.
"Talking about boys and girls that we thought were hot." Landon said.
"Well I know this much my straight brother likes my new best friend and my gay brother likes her gay brother and I am not liking anyone at this time." She said frowning.
"You will find someone." Landon said.
"I know but I kind of am done with the whole high school dating bullshit. I want someone long term and not someone who is going to talk shit about you when they don't get what they want." She said with a shrug.
"I agree." I said smiling at her.
"No son, you have someone your just not willing to let it happen." She said laughing.
"I'm just not ready. I like him and all but he could do way better." I said honestly.
"Tough, he is not going to give up." She said giggling.
"I hope he doesn't." Landon said.
"What time are we meeting with dad?" I asked changing the subject.
"He said to come by around ten we have to meet with the Realtor at noon but he wants to have lunch before we go. There is like three houses he wants to look at." Lacey said in a whisper.
"So we should maybe get to bed." I said.
"Sounds good, thanks for the snack." Landon said cleaning up his garbage.
"You want these?" I asked Lacey.
"Sure, I will take them with me." She said taking the left overs.
"Let's leave about 9:30 I have to get gas." I said.
"We can take my car." Landon said.
"I really don't want to leave mine here." I said truthfully.
"Okay well can we all fit in yours?" Lacey asked.
"Yeah, we should." I said. The only people that had ever been in my truck was Harvey and Holden.
"Cool, then 9:30 it is." Lacey said following Landon out.
I got up and cleaned up my room and shut the door. I unlocked my closet and actually packed some clothes in one of the totes before finding something to wear for tomorrow and tonight. When I was done I moved the pallet onto the air mattress and scouted it over to the wall. I took my phone off charge and put my charger in my back pack before setting my alarm for eight and putting my phone under my pillow. I did not trust my mom. I was not going to leave anything out in the open for her to take. My truck keys were in my pocket of my p.j. pants. Once I was sure everything was out of sight and she couldn't get anything I turned out my light and crawled into bed. I will admit my new bed beat sleeping on the floor.
