christmas has always been one of the most popular celebrations all over the world, especially loved by kids, even though almost everyone deep inside enjoyed this day and the general atmosphere that surrounded it.

and it was exactly what was happening at jeongin's house. the entire house was decorated with red candles and small santa claus statues or dolls, and other typical stuff.

he was staring intently at the presents under the christmas tree as he wondered which one was going to be his to open.

his mom walked into the living room and laughed upon seeing her son like that. he hadn't changed a tiny bit from when he was a kid, she thought.

"what are you looking at?" she chuckled, making the boy jump in his spot on the couch.

"o-oh, i was just checking the christmas tree, you know-" he tried to find an excuse, but gave up immediately as his cheeks painted a soft red and his mother smiled at him.

"yeah yeah," she mocked him before she changed topic, "what about your boyfriend? when is he coming over?"

jeongin shrugged, "he said he was going to get here before noon, but i don't really-" before he could even finish his sentence, the bell rang and he literally sprinted to the door, opening it and revealing none other than his beloved boyfriend.

"hi, baby," chan greeted him, lowering his head to capture his lips in a sweet kiss.

"hi, channie," he smiled against his lips, before moving away and letting the boy inside.

his mother was waiting at the entrance of the living room and her face immediately lit up when she saw the elder boy, walking up to him to give him a motherly hug.

"welcome, sweetie. it's great seeing you here today!" she excitedly said, helping him take off his coat and shoes.

"thank you for the invitation, minjee," he politely bowed. despite having known her for months and having been at jeongin's place a thousand times, he still felt really grateful for their hospitality.

"oh no worries, you're one of us now. you know you can come over whenever you want... besides, jeongin is never going to complain about that, am i right?" she winked at her son, who only scooted closer to his boyfriend and snuggled to his side, hiding his face in his chest feeling embarrassed.

chan chuckled at how adorable he looked and slowly let his hand slide down until he found the other's, intertwining their fingers.

"alright boys, i'll leave you to your things," minjee quickly said making her way to the kitchen, "i'll be over here making lunch. and chan, i hope you didn't forget your pyjama."

the christmas eve at the yang's house was a pleasant day.

jeongin's mother had decided to invite chan over since, first of all she knew the boy was going to be all alone there in seoul—and neither her or her son minded spending christmas with him. and secondly, because her husband had left again.

even during christmas, he still found more important places to go to rather than his own house with his wife and son.

and deep down, minjee knew the reason, having already picked up on a few hints from months ago. her husband was clearly cheating on her.

it was obvious by now, since he always seemed so busy and so eager to go to work, even when she knew there wasn't so much to do.

she had decided to keep silent for the moment, wanting jeongin to relax during his holidays and spend a nice christmas with his boyfriend, his friends and his mom.

even chan had caught on what was going on, both because he had an idea about it, but also because he had once overheard minjee talk on the phone with someone about it, as she sobbed in a corner of the kitchen, not wanting jeongin to hear.

however, the day of christmas eve was going pretty smoothly and, after an abundant lunch and a couple games played afterwards and another abundant dinner, the three of them were in the living room. minjee was sitting on the armchair while the two boys had their spots on the ground with their backs against the couch.

they were all wearing their comfy pyjamas, according to their family tradition: jeongin had a red and white pyjama with a deer on the front of his shirt; chan's was similar but it was blue and white with a penguin; then minjee was wearing a grey and red pyjama which had christmas written all over it in different fonts.

they were watching one of the classic christmas movies, and jeongin slowly got closer to his hyung, laying his head on his shoulder as chan wrapped an arm around his waist. minjee looked at them and cooed, smiling proudly upon seeing her son so grown up and happy.

when the movie was over, it was almost midnight, so they switched the lights on and gathered on the floor near the christmas tree.

"it's almost time," jeongin beamed excitedly, shaking his boyfriend by the arm.

"yes, jeonginie, calm down," his mother laughed, along with the other boy, making the youngest put on an adorable pout that chan, without even thinking twice, immediately kissed away.

as soon as he realised what he was doing he pulled away, redness going up to his ears as he couldn't look up to minjee, who was just smiling softly at the two. it's not like she had never seen the two boys kiss, but it still felt kind of awkward to kiss your boyfriend so sweetly in front of his mom.

for once, it was jeongin who broke the awkward silence, "one minute left!" he loudly said. he felt so happy he was almost rolling on the floor.

chan let his hand slip into jeongin's as they waited, occasionally glancing at each other and smiling. minjee too was smiling, feeling finally happy, despite deep down in heart feeling a little nostalgic about not having her husband there with them.

"MERRY CHRISTMAS!" jeongin suddenly yelled after he checked the time on his phone, seeing it was finally midnight. he jumped up and hugged his mom, who sweetly ran a hand through his hair.

he then rushed to chan, literally hugging the life out of him, placing his head on his chest as the elder wrapped his muscular arms around him, caressing his back.

"merry christmas, innie," he mumbled, leaving a soft kiss on the top of the younger's head.

"merry christmas, channie. i love you," jeongin replied and before chan could say it back, they heard the click of a picture being taken and immediately turned towards minjee.

she was standing there, proudly smiling as she kept taking more pictures of the two.

"mom!" jeongin whined as he softly blushed. chan just chuckled.

"what? you're just too cute! i have to capture this moment!"
