All I could hear was the jiggling of keys as I put my house key in the lock. I sigh to myself trying to relieve some tension on myself from the hard day at work. It was one of those day where it didn't matter what I did I was always behind. It was just too stressful, but I'm happy my boss noticed and let me go home 2 hours early. I'm just glad it's over. And now I can relax. I turned the key and walk into a dimly light room.

"Jervis I'm home." I announced to my boyfriend as I entered the house. I never get tired of saying that. We have been dating sense we were 16 but we have been best friends for longer. We finally decided to move in together 2 years ago and it makes me very happy to come home to him every night. Words can't explain how much I love that man. Some people think he hypnotized me but he can't. He tried to do that in class to get me to give him the answers on a test but I think the thing that intrigued him the most about me was that I couldn't be hypnotized. He tried multiple times after that, but no matter how hard he tried he could never do it. And our relationship flourished from there.

I let out a relaxing sigh as I hung up my coat, took off my shoes and put my bag down on the floor. I looked around and instantly noticed something different about the house. In the dim light I could easily make out many candles lit around the house leading up the stairs. I smiled to myself totally taken aback. How did he know. My mood instantly perked up as I made my way to the stairs. Once there I saw candles all along the edges of the stairs leading up accompanied by red rose pedals that coat the surface of the stairs. My ears perk up, faintly hearing the rhythm of my favourite soundtrack playing. My smile grows wider as I ascend the stairs. I get to the second floor to see that the rose pedals make a trail all the way to our bedroom. Oh my goodness he's waiting for me. I proceed to the bedroom door hearing the music getting louder with each step. "Jervis?" I call turning the handle opening the door. But only for the smile to completely evaporate from my face.

Jervis was on the bed with his shirt off while he was on top of a naked woman aggressively kissing her lips and neck. Seconds after the door opened, they stopped and looked back in complete shock about being caught red handed. At that moment I've already seen enough and only want to get away from here and him. Everything just seemed to happen in slow motion. I could hear Jervis calling my name but I didn't bat an eye. I was in too much shock. I got half way to the stairs when I feel a hand grabbing my arm and turning me around to see a worried Jervis with his long hair all messy. I just want to get away.

"Y/n Baby please don't go! I'm so sorry!" "How could you do this to me?!" I questioned hysterical. "I don't know what came over me! I couldn't control myself!" I just look at him is disgust. I don't even want to look at him. I turned around continuing to head towards the top of the steps. "Wait Baby please I love you!" Jervis exclaimed grabbing my arm once again turning me around to face him. "You love me .... You see that's what I thought. I thought you loved me when I came home and saw the house was cleaned and riddled with lit candles. When I saw candles and rose pedals on the floor leading upstairs. I even got excited when I heard my favourite playlist playing light in the background. But I realized the truth when I opened that door and saw you in bed with another girl. Realizing that you would do all of that work for another girl but never me. After all I did for you! So look me in the eyes and tell me you love me!" "..... Y/n .... I ...." "That's what I thought." I turned around only for him to turn me back around.

"No wait Please!" "Wait for what?! You?! I have been waiting for you my entire life. I stayed back because you were still in high school. I waited to start College because you didn't know what you wanted to take and when you finally did you wanted to do it together. I waited most nights worried sick when you were out somewhere with your buddies and I only found that out after you came home drunk. I waited for years to start up my own career because you were having problems in school and with your family. I'm done waiting and throwing my life away to be with you. It's not a life it's a babysitting job, and a shitty one at that! I'm not a teenager that needs money I am an adult that wants to start a life! I have plans, and I hope you do to! Hell I hope that girl in the bedroom is apart of those plans, because you've always needed someone to look after you! And it definitely won't be me! I stated finally seeing the truth. Turning around and heading down the stairs.

"Come on Baby you don't mean that!" Jervis hurried after me. "Oh but I do! This whole time I thought I was in wonderland, thinking it was so magical. But now I realize that I was just falling in an endless rabbit hole! Well now I'm crawling out!" I exclaimed getting to the bottom of the steps, grabbing my things and heading for the door. "You know even though you can't hypnotize me you didn't have to. Because you had me fooled." Was the last thing I said before closing the front door leaving him to stand there with the realization and regret of what he's done.
