christmas & pranks :)
[this was supposed to be short oops]

"i'm gonna pull my hair out!" (y/n) yelled to the blonde girl beside her, "he's definitely gonna hate it," she said in a quieter voice.

autumn shook her head at her friend, "no he won't. i know my cousin, he won't hate it. whatever it is," she told her. autumn knew she was lying to (y/n). she didn't know if gary was going to hate it or not, she just wanted to comfort her friend. her very stressed out friend.

"i doubt he even remembers that day," (y/n) mumbled to herself, thinking about what she wanted to give gary. thinking about her and gary's first date. a date in the middle of october to the carnival. she smiled to herself at the memory. she smiled at the image of the way he tried to win every game just to one-up her. the way he held her hand wherever they went. the way he got upset and ignored her when (y/n) put ice cream on his nose. all reasons why (y/n) adored gary. all reasons why she wanted this christmas gift to be special.

(y/n) stood up with the new found smile on her face, "i— i'm heading out." she stated, already walking to the dorm room door. (y/n) had just thought of an idea. an idea she wasn't gonna let slip out of her mind.

————

"pinky! open up!" (y/n) exclaimed for the second time as she banged on the harrington house door, awaiting the very slow pinky gauthier. the one time (y/n) wanted to go out with pinky was of course when pinky would take her sweet time.

(y/n) could hear a voice approaching her from behind the entrance, "what delinquent is banging at the door," the voice paused as the door swung open, close to hitting the (h/c) girl in the face, "oh- hello (y/n)." derby smiled at her and leaned on the door frame.

(y/n)'s mouth instantly turned into a frown. not letting what she really wanted to say slip out, she stuck to what she came there for, "is pink-"

derby looked up with a confused face and tapped his chin, "i don't remember us having a date today." he stated, completely cutting her off.

(y/n) chuckled thinking he was joking, because obviously in her head he had to be kidding. her smiled dropped when he looked at her with a straight face. she awkwardly looked away, "you... you know i have a boyfriend, right? you're aware i'm dating gary? i'm sorry i just need to know that you know that."

derby stood up straight and came closer to (y/n)'s face. close enough to where she could smell the boy's breath. the smell reminded her of almonds and coffee, "you and i both know you really don't like that nut case," he whispered and caressed her cheek. derby was sure the scent of the mouth spray he used earlier would practically convince (y/n) to kiss him, not to mention the cheek caress. she had to be in love with him by now in his eyes. he pulled his face closer to hers. sadly for the desperate derby harrington, that's not how those things work.

immediately she slapped his hand off her face, though that wasn't all she wanted to slap, "get off me freak! just tell me where pinky is so i can get out of here."

he rubbed the part of the hand she hit and smirked. he had an idea. an idea to get what he so desperately wanted. he decided to give her an ultimatum, "kiss me first or no pinky."

tired of his bullshit, she gave him a firm look with dead eyes, "derby."

"fine," he sighed and gave in. derby didn't care that (y/n) had a boyfriend or that she just slapped him. or even the clear fact that she didn't want him. he only cared that she got want she wanted and that one day he would get a kiss from her. derby would continue to pursue (y/n), though it was fruitless, "she's out at the jewelers."

"hell no pinky, that's ugly. you have no good taste." (y/n) shook her head disappointedly at the taller girl, though she held a smile on her face. she had been looking around the jewelry store called 'quartz' with pinky. pinky, the girl who (y/n) couldn't stand to be around at the moment. (y/n) thought that she should have just come by herself, seeing as pinky was barely paying attention to her or helping her at all. pretty much the whole reason why she wanted to come with her in the first place, "pinky, please. try, for once in your fucking life."

"okay, fine," pinky complained and put down the emerald bracelet she was holding. she looked around carefully at the sample necklaces they had on display, "this one," she said a little while after looking around at all the options. she pointed at a simple but unique necklace. the necklace was in the shape of an infinity sign with small gems. though the names were 'olivia and hank', (y/n) was obviously going to change it to hers and gary's.

(y/n) smiled at the necklace and picked it up, "perfect," she whispered. for the first time today, she felt sure. sure that she had made the right choice. sure that everything was coming together. sure that she was happy and content.

pinky scoffed and ranted to herself, "and i don't have good taste. if i didn't have good taste i wouldn't even go out!"

——— dec. 25th 3:03am

a loud knock on (y/n)'s window woke her up from her slumber, "what the hell?" she questioned in a low tone, the grogginess in her voice evident.

luckily for (y/n), she was one of the only girls who had their own room, seeing as (y/n) had come to bullworth a little later than the others. meaning she didn't have to worry about other bitchy females complaining about the noise. or snitches to tell on her when she snuck gary, jimmy or, pete (or all three) into her room late at night. (not in a dirty way you perverts)

the knocking sound came again but louder. (y/n) quickly hauled her ass out of her bed, in fear that if she let the person wait any longer they would wake up the whole dorm.

"i'm coming," she, again, told the person in a tired voice. she shuffled her feet over to the window beside her bed and looked through the blinds. when she noticed a familiar face she unlocked and pulled the creaky and very rusty, old window open, "gary?" she asked as she backed up giving him space to get inside her room, "what the hell?" (y/n) repeated again to herself. thoughts and questions were swimming around in her head. like why is he at her window at three am? what does he want? and most importantly why the fuck is he at her window at three am?

gary completely ignored her question and pulled something out of his back pocket, "you have morning breath," he teased. or at least (y/n) thought he was teasing her. he did have a small smile on his face, giving off the impression that he was joking around. gary held out a pack of gum. or what looked like a piece of gum to his girlfriend in the dark, "have some gum," he insisted, his smirk growing wider.

(y/n) scrunched her eyebrows together in confusion but went along with it anyways, "uh, okay asshole," she agreed and giggled. as she pulled her hand up to grab the piece that sticking out she looked up at gary one more time to see his face. she noticed his eyes were focused on her hand, that he was practically waiting for her to grab the stick of chewing gum. she stopped midway, letting her hand hang in the air, "what did you do to the gum? did you lace it with something?" she quickly rushed out, half joking, half serious.

"what?" he practically scolded, "just take one, it's not that difficult," he shoved the pack closer to her hand as if her fingers would magically drift to the gum, "or do i need to explain it slowly to you?"

(y/n) frowned at what gary was saying, "no, you asshat, you don't. i'm not a tard." she told him and proceeded to finally grab the item. before she could even pull the stick out, she felt a shock run through her finger into her hand, "fuck!" she whispered-yelled, still remembering there were other girls in the dorm, "what the hell—what's your problem?" she blurted out and hit his chest with her unaffected hand. though her hits were nothing to him, only a reason to laugh more. gary had got her. and he had got her good. even (y/n) knew that he got her. and she was gonna get him back in the only way she knew how. giving him a taste of his own medicine.

"you think that's funny, huh? i have a way to get you to stop laughing," she said, getting her acting skills ready.

gary held his stomach as his laughter died down, "what is it princess?" he jeered at her.

"gimme a second," she said, holding up a finger. (y/n) reached over her bed and picked up something from her nightstand. a pregnancy test. no, not a real one. but real enough for gary to believe it was positive. gary wasn't the only one who had prepared a gag gift and he wasn't the only one pulling a prank.

(y/n) pushed herself off her bed and hid the fake pregnancy test in the band of her pajama pants. she thought of someone she cared about dying, just for the tears to show in her eyes. when she was ready, she turned around and frowned at the scar-faced boy, "i'm pregnant." she stated blankly, showing him the fake positive pregnancy test. no emotion showing on her face, except for one tear rolling down her face.

the room fell silent. the tiny bits of laughter that were still escaping gary's lips were now gone. gary always loved messing with people but not the other way around. for once he wasn't laughing. his mouth opened and closed, but no sound came out. he was speechless. gary had sworn him and (y/n) had never had sex. or had they? he didn't know anymore. maybe it was that night at the dance when they both got drunk. it had to be. it was the only explanation. even if it was fake, where would she get one from?

(y/n)'s couldn't hold it in anymore and burst out in laughter, "you should've have seen your face! oh my god, you looked like such an idiot!" she mustered out between fits of laughter. she didn't expect gary to react as he did, but it was better than she thought. the way his eyebrows would scrunch and un-scrunch— she couldn't take it anymore. she, of course, wanted to act a little more, but gary's reaction hindered her from doing so. she looked back up at gary expecting him to be upset, but he looked relieved, "damn. i got you good babe." she said with a smirk, "i love christmas," she beamed with the sweetest smile. even gary couldn't stay mad at that. his one weakness was something he always avoided— a friend. but in this case, his girlfriend.

"what's that?" the now happy girl questioned, pointing to box she hadn't noticed was there before. gary must've brought it in with him, she thought.

gary's smirk returned back to his face as he remembered his final and last gift of this early morning, "right... that," he murmured to himself slowly. gary swiftly bent down and picked up the nicely wrapped gift (he forced pete to wrap it for him and his others too) and handed it to the giddy girl. (y/n) carefully took the box from him, making sure not to get shocked again. she was not going to go down that road again. gary laughed at his girlfriend's action, "just take it," he insisted, just like before.

(y/n) took note of that, "that's what you said last time," she muttered but took the box. she exhaled a breath when the box didn't send a shocking sensation through her. she shook the box near her ear, "it sounds empty." she spoke, mostly to herself but also for gary to hear.

"open it already," he urged, tired of waiting already. boy, was he impatient.

"okay! i'm going," she smiled at him and sat down on her bed, setting the beautifully wrapped gift in her lap. immediately she ripped the wrapping paper off to be met with a weird surprise. she kept the smile on her face. what else could she expect from her boyfriend, "hardy har har," she gave a fake laugh, "when would i ever wear these, you crackhead," she joked as she stared down at the edible candy bra and g-string. she shook her head in disappointment. but as stated before, she didn't expect anything less from gary. it was just like him to do something like this, "how much did you even pay for this?" she asked, still smiling at the gift. she would never wear it but she would always remember it.

"not much..." he trailed off, "just thirty dollars," he replied, a huge grin still on his face.

(y/n)'s face turned into pure confusion, "thirty fucking dollars," she stood up and held up the two boxes, "for this? what a waste," she told him, mumbling the last sentence.

gary slyly slipped his hands around her waist, "not if you put it on..." he licked his lips and trailed off again, giving her a toothy grin. a very suggestive toothy grin.

a smile returned to her face. she rolled her eyes and looked off to the side, trying to avoid gary's compelling gaze. she knew if she looked into them she would melt and give in.

she scoffed and in a shaky voice replied, "as if."

——————— 10 am (7 hours later for those who can't count skskjs)

"i- i wanna open first!" (y/n) stated quickly, not even giving gary the chance to say anything. this was her way of stalling her giving gary a gift, still afraid he wouldn't like it.

for the first time in her whole relationship of knowing him, she noticed gary looked nervous. she shook it off, seeing as she was nervous too, "i wasn't sure what to get you so i had femme-boy and jimmy help me," he paused, trying to collect his thoughts. once he was ready he cleared his throat, "i don't know if you'll even like it-"

(y/n) cut him off and shook her hands in front of her, "i'm sure i will!" but quickly after she bit her lip in embarrassment. her nerves were causing her to talk too much...

gary half smiled at her. what was he even worried for? with a girl like her, she would love whatever he gave her. gary pulled the gold box from out of his back pocket, "here." he simply stated and handed her the gift. he didn't feel the need to say anymore. (y/n) had already known his feelings for her, even if he didn't say them aloud. it was gestures like early this morning, that explained it all to her. gary didn't need to wake up at 3 in the morning to joke around with her and give her fake gifts, but he did anyway. and that's all she needed to know to know that gary loved her. an emotion he would never admit he felt, but he did. he only loved one person. he loved (y/n). a lot.

(y/n) carefully took the box from him, already preparing to cry tears of joy. she slid the cover of the shiny box, causing a 'pop' sound to erupt when the top came off. not even a few seconds after, a huge grin spread across her face, and tears welled in her eyes, "i love it," she whispered as she picked up the necklace from the spongy material inside. a barely audible exhale was heard from gary. he was glad she liked it. a smile gasp escaped her lips when she noticed it was a locket. there was definitely a picture inside. she just prayed it wasn't an ugly one of her.

she opened the silver necklace to be met with a picture of her and gary on their first date. their date to the carnival. a tear finally escaped her eye as she looked at the picture. before that picture, she had never seen gary smile. but he smiled that day. he smiled a lot. something (y/n) would never forget. while staring at the picture she asked, "can you put it on me?" gary simply nodded at the girl and took the necklace from her. (y/n) turned around and allowed him to place the necklace on her. she shivered as the hairs on her neck stood up when gary's cold fingers grazed her neck. when gary finally clasped the necklace together, she held the locket part in her hand and smiled to herself.

(y/n)'s head shot up when she remembered it was her turn, "oh shit, it's my turn!" she exclaimed as she picked up the wrapped gift from her bed. she handed him the box with a shaky hand. all her anxieties had just returned. that moment of bliss was gone. gary was beginning to open the gift when she started, "it's okay if you don't like it...or even wear it-"

gary cut her off by shushing her. again, her nerves were causing her to ramble, "shhh (y/n). calm down," he reprimanded, though he still smiled. it was cute that she was so nervous about the gift. even if gary hated it he wouldn't tell her that to her face. or at least he would say it in the nicest way he knew how.

(y/n) mumbled a quick 'sorry' as he tore off the top of the box. gary just stared at the gift, he didn't know what to say, "see, i knew you would hate it." she sniffed. (y/n) cursed herself in her head. why would she even think he would like it? who gets their boyfriend such a simple gift. she felt stupid.

(y/n) keep her head down refusing to look at gary. her head shot up when she felt gary hug her, "i don't," he said into her shoulder, though it came out muffled so (y/n) couldn't hear him properly.

"w-what?"

gary pulled away from her but kept his hands on her shoulders, "i said i don't hate it— i don't hate your gift." he assured, smiling at his girlfriend. gary's smile caused her to smile at him too.

(y/n) pulled him in for another hug, "thank god." she said, feeling relieved, "you don't what i had to go through to get this. i had to talk to derby, that fucking psycho" she complained, pulling away from the hug to see gary's reaction.

the scar-faced boy just scowled, "that fucker."

(y/n) held onto the locket again, her new found comfort, "yeah, that fucker."
