"Dream? We're gonna get soaked!" George said, laughing in awe.
"I know, but I don't care!"
Dream got up and left the bed. George groaned and followed after him.
Dream stepped outside, only for the bottom of his sweatpants to be accompanied by puddles. George flinched while walking further into the warm Florida water. The streetlights added to their existence, the rain drops glistening in the light.
George couldn't stop laughing. The thunder overtook their laughter, causing overturned fear to arise in their stomachs. But they couldn't give a shit in the world. They had each other. It was what both of them wanted, right?
Dream hummed a simple beat that George didn't seem to recognize. He could hardly hear over the splat of the raindrops every second.
Their shirts were drenched after being outside for less than a minute.
"I'm gonna need that hoodie back George"
"Take it back, then-"
Dream chased after George for a solid 5 minutes, grabbing onto the hood of his sweatshirt but his fingers slipping off. George had never laughed harder.
George's sweatshirt was half on, his stomach barely showing.
"You know what George? Fine," Dream said, taking out his phone. Water was hitting his screen quickly.
He clicked the side of his phone, the volume rising.
Sometimes all I think about is you;
Late nights in the middle of June,
"What the hell Clay!" George said, his face red. He reached to grab the phone from him, but Clay moved his hands before George could even do anything.
He put his arms around George. The music played faintly from his pocket, the speakers clogged with rainwater. George stood in Clay's wet arms, not budging.
"Oh come on now, loosen up," Clay said, rocking George back and forth.
Heatwaves kept playing. George blurred it out. He rested his head on Clay's chest, his arms wrapped around him.
The thunder grew louder behind them. They stood in the empty driveway. The music faded out into the next song, the rain accompanying their silence.
I don't really give a damn about the way you touch me,
When we're alone;
You can hold my hand if-
No ones home,
"I PROMISE I didn't plan for this song to play," Dream said, wheezing.
George undug his face from Clays chest, which caused Clay to look directly down at George.
George couldn't hold back any longer. George cupped his hands around Clays jaw. He tilted his neck and leaned into Clay, their lips locking. Clay didn't pull back, his hands on the back of George's neck.
Time stopped. The rain stopped. The soft melody of their song rung through their ears.
Their mouths moved in motion to the rhythm of the music. George fell deeper, deeper.
The song came to a stop, and George pulled away. They looked each other directly in the eyes, raindrops hitting their noses.
Their love was a curse, and it was growing.
