~Y/n pov~

I was heading to the capital with Asta and Noelle because we had to give a report to the Magic Knights Headquarters.

"This is awesome! It's this huge up close?" Asta yelled as he stared at the castle with sparkling eyes.

"Could you calm down? You're embarrassing me." Noelle complained.

I noticed the three Golden Dawn members walking in front of us.

"Well, hello! If it isn't the members of the Golden Dawn!" Asta greeted loudly, gaining their attention.

"Ah, he's been a week, Asta." Klaus smiled, "Are you here to give a report, as well? Have your wounds completely healed?"

Klaus walked over and placed his hands on Asta's shoulders.

"Yeah! My stomach still hurts a little, but I ate lots and slept lots, so I'm fine." Asta replied enthusiastically.

He's always so loud and full of energy.

"What are you, a kid?" Yuno asked bluntly.

"Who are you calling a kid?!"

"You."

"You're the same age as me!" Asta yelled before noticing Mimosa stood behind Yuno, "I'm better because of your magic, Mimosa. Thanks."

She turned and ran away.

Asta had a confused expression as she just ignored him.

"Why'd she run away?" He asked.

"When you raised your hand, your arm was shorter than expected, and it startled her, maybe?" Yuno insulted him.

"What the hell?! Yuno, you jerk!" Asta yelled angrily.

"Hey, Yuno." I smiled as we both ignored Asta.

"Hey." He ruffled my hair and was about to say something else when suddenly Noelle came up to us.

"Noelle, are you okay?" I asked.

She didn't reply and grabbed onto my arm, clinging to it.

Her boobs were pressed up against my arm as she glared at Yuno.

What is she doing? My cheeks felt hot.

I patted Noelle's head and her cheeks turned red.

She ran over to Mimosa and they both started blushing and squealing.

"What was that about?" I asked.

Yuno shrugged.

"I believe headquarters are this way." Klaus led us to where he thought headquarters was.

"I guess there are things even you don't know, four-eyes." Asta responded.

"Indeed, there are."

I'm surprised he didn't protest to being called four-eyes.

There was a man with blonde hair stood there to greet us.

"I never expected you to meet us in person." Klaus bowed.

Mimosa and Noelle quickly bowed too.

Who is this dude?

"Who's that flashy old guy?" Asta voiced my thoughts.

"You fool!" Klaus yelled, "That's the current Wizard King, Julius Novachrono."

Yuno and I bowed while Klaus grabbed Asta's head and forced him to bow.

Julius looked at Yuno's grimoire.

"Well done acquiring this. This magic was probably the most important relic in that dungeon." Julius told us.

"You can read that?" Yuno asked in a surprised tone.

"Somewhat." His eyes stared sparkling as he read the grimoire, "Hey, would you try using this magic?"

The Wizard King shoved the grimoire back towards Yuno and showed him the page, his eyes sparkling in excitement.

"I'm sorry. I think it activated in the dungeon once, but I haven't been able to use it since." Yuno apologised.

"What?" Julius' excitement dropped, "I see.. Aw, that's too bad."

Asta jumped forward and showed the Wizard King his grimoire, "Wizard King! My grimoire has some weird scribbles in it, too!"

Julius leaned forward and looked at it, "This is..."

"This is?"

"Something I can't read at all."

Asta's facial expression dropped in disappointment.

"This thing pops out of it! Take a look!" Asta pulled out the second anti-magic sword and handed it to Julius.

Julius' eyes sparkled as he held the sword.

"I got mine to work." Asta teased Yuno.

Yuno ignored him.

Julius smiled, "Thank you. You can have this back now."

Asta nodded and took his sword back.

We were invited to a decoration ceremony.

I stood there and watched as some people got given a higher rank.

This was so boring.

Yuno stepped closer to me and let me lean on him tiredly.

I could use some sleep.

"Oh, I almost forgot. I invited some special guests today." Julius stated, making everyone turn to look at us.

Everyone's looking at us.

I froze. How embarrassing.

Please stop looking.

"Something came up, so I have to excuse myself, but have fun!" Julius left.

He just left us here.

My face paled.

"C'mon." Yuno tugged gently on my hand and pulled me over to an empty table.

He stood behind me to try and block everyone's view of me so not that many people would look at me.

That was impossible with Asta here.

He was so loud.

He messily scoffed down food and marvelled about how good it was.

Mimosa blushed and asked him if she could eat with him.

Asta agreed, oblivious to everything around him.

I could hear people insulting Asta but he ignored it.

"Man, listen to them tear into me. Good thing I'm used to it." Asta commented, completely unfazed from all the insults.

I almost laughed.

"You also have a peasant in your squad." A boy with orange hair stated, "The peasant who's forgotten his place since everyone fawns over him because of the four-leafed grimoire he has."

He's talking about Yuno.

"I could've handled capturing that dungeon even better." The boy turned to Yuno.

"That's quite confident, crimson brat." The Golden Dawn member responded to him, "It's not like we expect anything from that peasant."

I took a sip from my drink and watched as the Golden Dawn member insulted all the Vermillions.

"The most useless here is you." A silver haired boy walked over to Noelle and held his drink over her head.

Is that her brother? What an ass.

I tipped his hand just as he was about to pour the drink on Noelle and made him poor it on himself.

"Leave Noelle alone." I glared at him.

"Y/n, it's fine." Noelle grabbed my sleeve and tugged me to her side.

"How dare you!" Her brother yelled angrily.

I just stared at him blankly as he yelled in a rage.

The rest of her siblings started insulting her too.

I stood by her side and glared at them.

"You know none of that is true." I told her and smiled to reassure her, "You're my friend and I believe you can get stronger."

Noelle stared at me in surprise, her cheeks had a pink tint to them.

Solid threw a spell at us but Asta jumped in front of us and quickly sliced it in two.

I watched as everyone started arguing.

The doors slammed open and someone ran in.

"The Royal Capital is under attack!"

Some sort of portal covered the ground and started to engulf everyone.

Yuno grabbed my waist and jumped out of the way, using his air to keep us in the air.

"It's a trap." I stated, looking around for the mana presence of whoever set this trap.

There was a strong magic presence not to far away.

"Yuno..."

He nodded, "I can feel it."

He took us in the direction of the mana presence and we save a witch sucking all of the mana out of the citizens.

Or maybe it was their life energy? They were growing old because of it.

The witch threw her head back and laughed at the citizens.

"You monster!" One of the people yelled at her.

"Who are you calling a monster!?" She gripped his chin and was intending to kill him before Yuno stepped in.

He sent a gist of wind at her that blew her away from the man.

"I guess someone was able to escape that spatial magic." She smirked at us, "You're both pretty too. Say, want to have some fun with me?"

"Get away from these people, you old hag." Yuno glared at her.

Her smile turned into a glare, "I'll kill you. Who are you calling an old hag?!"

Purple ball of mana appeared beside her and she shot them at us.

We both dodged.

"These are curse bullets with various curses inside." The witch explained.

Yuno and I both took into the air to try and avoid them - Yuno using his wind magic and me using my lightning magic.

"You won't know what you'll get until they hit."

We continued to dodge but she just fired them at a faster rate.

There are so many of them. Just how long can I continue to dodge?

I grunted as a few hit me.

I can't get distracted. I need to focus and stay calm.

A few of them hit Yuno too.

"Who are you and what do you want?" I asked her.

"Do you really have time to be talking? Well, since you're both so pretty, I guess I'll tell you." She smiled, "We're here to eliminate someone. That's our goal."

"Eliminate?" My eyes widened.

Things were bad because all the other magic knights for teleported away.

We continued to battle and I started to notice something.

My sense were becoming weaker and I had already lost my sight.

If we keep this up, we might lose.

She laughed at us, "How much longer can you keep this up?"

"I won't give in. I refuse to lose." I told her confidently.

"Not yet."

My hearing completely disappeared.

Now that my sense were gone, I could sense mana a lot better.

I'm not sure how, but somehow I started absorbing some of the mana from the air.

I could feel Yuno's mana getting more powerful too.

It's like that time in the dungeon.

I concentrated and flung a powerful attack at the witch.

Yuno also sent an attack at her.

I could feel it.

By using this power, I was able to become stronger.

I need to learn how to absorb mana and use it in less extreme circumstances.

With our power greater than before, Yuno and I managed to defeat the witch... or so we thought.

Her mana started to spike up.

She had been blown away by Yuno so she was far away.

We both quickly travelled to where she was but it seems someone else already defeated her.

My eye sight was coming back but it was still slightly blurry.

I landed on the ground and caught something.

Blinking, I saw that I had caught a plate of food.

Huh? I stared at it in confusion.

I heard Yuno land beside me.

I looked down and spotted Charmy looking up at me with sparkly eyes.

Yuno suddenly fell and he landed right on top of me.

Luckily, Charmy cushioned us with her magic.

"Yuno, what are you..." I trailed off exhaustedly, my throat hurt.

Actually, everything hurt.

"Shush and let me sleep." Yuno groaned and laid on top of me.

I squirmed a bit and tried to move before giving in and just letting him lay on me.

We were both exhausted from the fight anyway, so I guess I'll let him off this one time.

He wrapped his arms around my waist and buried his face into my neck.

I could hear Charmy muttering about something but I couldn't make it out as my hearing hadn't properly come back yet.

Charmy's magic was like a pillow, it was so comfortable I felt myself starting to fall asleep.

Yuno's warmth didn't help as it felt like a blanket had been wrapped around me.

I relaxed into his embrace and drifted off to sleep.

We were back at the base. The attack on the capital was over.

I frowned. Fuegoleon was hurt and no one was able to do anything.

"Welcome back, Magna and Luck!" Asta greeted them cheerfully.

"Man, I'm so exhausted from my mission." Magna sighed.

"So tired." Luck added though he didn't seem tired at all.

"However, we got recognised for our deeds and got a star." Magna bragged to Asta.

"Oh, by the way, Magna. They were so impressed with what I did during all the trouble at the capital that they made mana third-class junior Magic Knight at a special awards ceremony!" Asta beamed.

"What?!" Magna yelled in shock before asking, "Wait, what's a third-class junior Magic Knight?"

"Have you guys been Magic Knights all this time without knowing what that is?" Yami spoke up from his spot on the sofa, "It's a Magic Knight rank. And since you guys haven't changed since you all joined, you're still fifth-class Magic Knights. Better start showing Asta some respect."

"What?!" Luck and Magna exclaimed in unison.

"And by the way, Y/n became a third-class junior Magic Knight and Charmy because a first-class junior Magic Knight." Yami added.

"On your knees, inferiors." Charmy smiled at them and tried to make them worship her.

She turned her head to me and noticed I was her.

"My gorgeous food goddess." She jumped towards me and sat in my lap.

The short girl shoved some food in my mouth and stared at me with sparkly eyes, waiting for my reaction.

I smiled at her cute face and blushed slightly, "It's good."

Charmy grinned and continued to share her food with me.
