~Y/n POV~
TW:// mention of suicide
"Listen, I think we should talk" Draco announced quietly as we walked into our room.
"Yeah... sure" I trailed off, glancing around the room. The room decor can be perfectly described with one word: Slytherin. The living room was warm unlike the Slytherin common room, however, it shared similar black leather sofa, alongside two matching armchairs. The coal coloured furniture huddled around the lit amber fireplace. An emerald green rug rested perfectly under the dark-stained wooden coffee table. A coat stand stood a couple of feet from the main entrance, ready to hold our belongings. Across the room, a huge bay window overlooked the black lake, drawing in the natural sunlight from the setting sun.
To the left stood a black kitchen with a serving hatch that peered into the living room. The walls were made of different sizes of cut stone, and lively ivy claimed the walls, wrapping around the room close to the ceiling. The bottom right corner had a door that lead to an elegant white bathroom.
In the top left corner, next to the kitchen entryway, was a wooden-floored spiral staircase with black metal bannisters. In an instant, I ran up the stairs, Draco slowly followed.
As I take the final step, I notice a short hallway with two doors, one leads to a bathroom identical to the one downstairs, the other leads to the bedroom. One silk green king size bed stood tall with its four posters, pushed back against the black flowery wallpapered wall. A walk-in wardrobe was situated to the left, and a window revealing a picturesque view sat above a dresser to the right. Either side of the bed was matching nightstands. Our belongings were already in the room, waiting to be unpacked.
"One bed..." I heard from behind. I briefly glanced at Draco, looking into his eyes, seeing... fear? Anxiousness? I'm not too sure.
"Yup" swiftly I walked out of the room and into the substantial living room. I sunk into the surprisingly plush sofa. Thinking. Processing the past few hours.
Moments later, Draco came down and took a seat next to me. We sat in awkward silence for a moment before the blond spoke. "Look..." he began, his voice soft almost vulnerable, "I understand that you don't want to be with me, especially after everything my family has put you through... but if we could just try-" before the boy could talk any longer, I cut him off.
"Yes."
"Yes?" He questioned me, confusion prominent in his voice.
"I want to try... well... in reality, we have no choice, but I want to try. Regardless, just to make this clear, whatever your family has done to me, I never held that against you. Nevertheless, that's all in the past now." I smiled at Draco. The boy physically relaxed at my warm gesture.
"Thank you. Honestly, I didn't know how this would go... I didn't think you'd want to be with someone like me." he rambled on, his voice growing smaller as he talked. "Never mind. Can we start over?" The blond turned to me, new hope shining in his grey eyes.
"Of course. Hello, I'm Y/n Edevane, Pleasure to meet you." I giggled at Draco. He smiled brightly back.
He took my hand, and kissed it, making me blush a little, taken back by the small act of kindness. "Malfoy, Draco Malfoy, the pleasure is mine." After a moment of sitting in silence, differently, this time it wasn't awkward. It was, dare I say, comforting. "How about we get to know each other?" Draco proposed.
"Sure! What would you like to know Mr. Malfoy?" I smriked at the boy.
"Well, Miss Edevane. Tell me..." he thought for a moment, "your favorite memory!" he smiled.
"My favorite memory...", what is my favorite memory. There was the day I got my Hogwarts letter... the day I was sorted into Slytherin... the day I got my first of many O's in my exams. The day I mastered the Patronus charm. The summer I spent with my parents in Florida... oh! I know, "the moment Voldemort died, I never felt happier. All those years, all those months spent fighting him. Living in the woods in hopes we'd find a Horcrux. All those deaths finally meant something. It was like..." I raised my gaze to look him in the eye "...like I could finally breathe."
He looked me in the eye, as I did the same. His eyes glistened with pure emotion I couldn't quite make out.
~Draco POV~
"... like I could finally breathe." She breathes out, my heart flutters as she looks me in the eye. I had no idea she went through all of that. Gazing into her e/c eyes, I promised myself that I'd protect her from anyone and anything, after all, she saved me, not that she knows it.
"What about you?" She broke the silence that we seemed to fall into once more. "What's your happiest memory?" Maybe it's time that she knew...
"Do you remember, in sixth year? You found me at the top of the Astronomy Tower..." I began, I rubbed the back of my neck, she shot me a confused look but urged me to go on.
"I was going to... jump..." I flinched at the memory. The girl before me gasped and threw her hand over her mouth, but she stayed silent, letting me continue. "But you walked in, you hated me, yet, there you were. You comforted me in a way I've never felt comfort before, you showed me kindness despite all the shit I've put you through. As you know, sixth year was... rough...to say the least. And you gave me hope. Hope that my mother and I would one day escape from Voldemort's and my father's clutches. You gave me hope that maybe, you and Harry could kill him..." as I continued to pour my heart out, Y/n stayed quiet. She didn't try to talk over me. She didn't try to shut me down. She didn't try to undermine me.
Then... she hugged me. "I'm so sorry, I had no idea you had it that rough..." I hushed her.
"It's not your fault... and I'm sorry I didn't do anything to stop Bella-" my voice cracked at the memory, the sight of her in so much pain, and there was nothing I could do, a tear fell from my eyes as my arms tightened around her waist.
It was then her turn to hush me. "Forget about it, what could you have done? It's in the past" she pulled away with tears in her eyes. She wiped my tear away and held my cheek in the soft palm of her hand. I leaned into the girl's embrace, silently wishing we could stay like this forever.
She laughed lightly while tilting her head to the side. "Let's not mention this, to anyone. I don't need people to know I cried."
I chuckled lightly as a response, and sniffled a little. "Yeah, I can agree to that, as long as you don't tell anyone I cried."
"So, I believe we have an agreement?" She stretched her hand out, her eyes still bloodshot from her tears.
"Yes, we do." I took her hand in mine, which fit perfectly in my hand, and shook it. Our gazes locked on one another.
