~Y/n POV~

McGonagall took her place, standing tall with a worrisome face. No words needed to be shared, we knew it was going to be detrimental, no matter what the headmistress was going to tell us.

"I'm sorry" her voice cracked as she began, tears threatening to spill. "The ministry has decided that, due to the war and the decrease in wizarding population, we must take serious action..." McGonagall couldn't bear to look us in the eyes, so her sight remained fixed on the Great Hall's grand door.

"This evening, everyone must add a strand of their hair to a potion, this, along with other spells, will reveal the one you are meant for, in other words, your soulmate" whispers spread like wildfire amongst the two years. Some exited. Others are nervous.

"What a load of bollocks" Nott grumbled unhappily.

"In a moment the potions will appear before you. You will open the bottle, place your hair inside, close the bottle, and you may leave it there. Once you have completed this, you are free to leave." McGonagall explained sorrow laced her voice, breaking all our hearts.

"First things first, outside the hall, you will find a list of names and room numbers. That will be your temporary sleeping quarters, only for one night." McGonagall emphasized the temporary side of things.

"And, unfortunately, if you do not comply, the ministry must take legal action..." I looked at Hermione and she looked at me... both consumed with confusion, and millions of questions soaring around our brain.

"... meaning... Azkaban" McGonagall could barely keep her composure. With a flick of her wrist, a small vial appears in front of each student in the hall. Wanting to get this over with, I ripped out a strand of hair, shoved it into the glass before closing it, and walked away.

I pushed past fellow Slytherins who were waddling their way out and met up with Hermione. "What-" she begins.

"I know" I interrupted the Gryffindor.

"When-"

"I know"

"Why??" She was so shocked, that her brain began to malfunction. And when a brain-box like Hermione Granger begins to mess up the simplest of sentences, you know it's bad.

"C'mon, let's go see who we share a dorm with" I suggested, the only thing that could save me from this nightmare of a reality, was my blissful dreams.

The two of us made our way to the crowd that surrounded a sheet of paper, dangling on the stone-cold wall. "Move" I demanded as I shoved people out of my way, not looking to see who it was. I glide my finger down the sheet to see that I'm roomed with Hermione! Perfect! And- no...

"Parkinson" I spat. I rolled my eyes and dragged Hermione by the wrist to our room. Our room was on the seventh floor, labelled 2H.

Hermione and I talked the whole way there, complaining about... well, everything! The stupid law, the stupid potion, the fact we have to room with Parkinson, of all people! Merlin has it out for us...

Later that evening I was sat on the sofa reading my book, The Cruel Prince. It's a muggle book that Hermione recommended to me. Parkinson hasn't been here yet, so I'm hoping that she found someplace else to spend the night.

Much to my dismay, the front door burst through, and in stumbled: Pugface, Zabini, Nott, and Malfoy. I rolled my eyes and tried to ignore them. This didn't last long as Pansy sat right next to me.

"What are you reading?" Pansy asked in her annoying voice.

I rolled my eyes at the girl, before answering sarcastically, "A book."

"Enough book talk, that's boring!" Nott exclaimed, "Edevane, who are you hoping for?" He wiggled his eyebrows suggestively.

I grabbed my bookmark, and shoved it between the pages, marking where I was before I was so rudely interpreted. "No one" I answered plainly.

"Oh, c'mon... there must be someone..." he pushed on.

I wild smirk spread across my face, "there is someone..." earring a squeal from Parkinson.

"Who? Please tell me who!" She begged, and this caused me to smirk wider. This is going to be hilarious...

"Honestly..." I began, the four of them leaned in, I looked Theodore dead in the eyes... "...anyone but you." With that, I left.

~Earlier: Draco's POV~

"Move" I hear someone demand from behind me, before I know it, I'm shoved to the side. I look to see Edevane gliding her finger across the sheet I once was looking at.

"Who the hell does she think she is!" Pansy spat, "You ok, Dracy? Don't let that blood-"

"Don't" I glared at Pansy, causing her to shut her trap.

"Parkinson" Y/n spat from my left, before shoving people out of her way once more, to make her way down the corridor, Granger in tow. Someone's in a good mood.

"No!" Pansy gasped! She turned to Blaise, Theo, and me, "Please let me stay with you! I cannot stand them!" We all shared a confused look at the girl.

Blaise stepped forward and looked at the sheet, "Yes! We are together, boys!" He rejoiced, "And Pansy... oh" then he burst out laughing.

"It's not funny!" She squealed.

"Pan- pansY," he gasped for breath, "s-shE, rOom, grAngEr, aNd" he laughed harder than before, "eDeVanE!!" Then Theo started to laugh equally as hard. I rolled my eyes at their childish behaviour.

"C'mon, let's find our room" and with that, we left.

Later that evening, Pansy somehow persuaded the three of us to accompany her to her room. We walked in to see, Y/n, reading by the fire. I couldn't help but notice how flattering the orange light was on her.

Eventually, Theo asked, if Y/n was hoping to get someone specific for her soulmate. This grabbed my interest. "No one" she answered, almost sounding bored.

Theo being a nosy bitch, pushed on for an answer, "Oh, c'mon... there has to be someone..." he suggested. A smirk grew on Y/n's face, usually, that isn't a good sign for us.

"There is someone..." Pansy squealed excitedly, she has always been mental for gossip. My eyes burned into Y/n, why am I like this?

"Honestly," she began, we all leaned in out of curiosity, she turned to Theo, "...anyone but you." And with that, she left. Theo's face fell, as we all burst out into uncontrollable laughter. We spent an hour or so there before the boys and I left to go to sleep. After all, tomorrow... everything changes.
