~Draco's POV~

For the past week, all that consumed my mind was her. My soon-to-be wife- shit I forgot I'm supposed to propose!

Ever since my mind has come to the true meaning behind the butterflies when she smiles at me, the meaning behind how my heart melts to see her flustered because of something I said or did, the meaning behind the reddening of my cheeks when she gives me the smallest of compliments: she's all I've been able to think about.

Y/n Edavane feverishly controls my thoughts and feelings day in and day out. Currently, it was dinner time and Halloween is just around the corner. Next week Slytherin plans to hold a Halloween party, and I've made it my mission to take Y/n. First and foremost, there are more important matters to attend to; being Y/n's 'friends'.

Indeed, those Gryffinshits and I have never had the best of relationships, but I'll do what I must to make sure that my Y/n is happy. It is crystal clear that over the last week, they've been distancing themselves more and more, resulting in Y/n and I spending more time with each other. Don't get me wrong, I treasure the time Y/n and I have spent taking care of our plant baby, Piss, and our evening strolls as we admire the autumn leafs, but I can't ignore how upset she has been over the selfishness of her so-called 'friends'.

So here I am. Dinner time in the Great Hall after an exhausting day of classes. Y/n and I walk together through the grand entrance. As we strode in, I noticed how her steps faltered as soon as her eyes landed on the Gryffindor table. Instantly she squeezed my hand, making my face heat up and a smile subconsciously stretched across my face. Gosh, what is she doing to me!

Y/n tugs me along to the Slytherin table, not sparing a glance at the Gryffindors. However, I dare to look at the group, only to find scarhead and weasel staring daggers into me. I smirked at the pair before pulling Y/n into my embrace. Y/n laughs as we stood not far from the two tables. "What are you doing?" She giggles.

I smirk down at her shorter figure, "nothing..."
My fingers glided across the fabric that hugged her hips and waist as I took a step closer to her. She's so hot- "Listen, my love. I'm going to do something. Something that I would never do in a million years for anyone but you..." she nodded while smiling up at me. Gingerly, my fingers tucked a misplaced strand of hair behind her ear and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead. "Come on."

My fingers intertwined with her once more as we slowly made our way toward Saint Potter and his two goons. Y/n started to pull back, silently refusing to go, regardless, I just pulled her along as she couldn't stop me.

I snatched a seat opposite weasel, expecting Y/n to sit next to me. However, she just glared at Potter who looked up at her with a saddened face. Weasel with a half-eaten chicken leg in hand elbowed Granger whose nose was buried deep into a book. "Ow, Ronald!" She scolded the boy. Weasel then nodded his head in my direction, hinting at the girl to look towards me. Her eyes widened as soon as her gaze landed on Y/n and I.

I pulled Y/n to sit beside me, holding her tight with my arm secured around her waist. "Afternoon" I greeted the trio as cheerfully as I could... which was not that cheerful at all.

"My love, why are we here?" Y/n whispered into my ear, sending electricity down my spine. I flashed her a warm smile, silently begging her to trust me.

"I believe you know why I'm here" I addressed the trio once more. They all exchanged glances, one with confusion, another with annoyance, and the other is the look your mother gives you when you've done something wrong and you know you're in big trouble.

"Well, no actually" Potter sassily answered.

"Yeah, why are you here?" Weasel added with annoyance. Granger shook her head at the two boys.

"Sorry about them... it's just... it is rather odd that you are sitting with us... given that you-" Granger chose her words carefully as she spoke slowly until I interrupted her.

"Hate you?" I scoffed after finishing Granger's sentence. "I've been holding back all year for Y/n. But then I find you three have been distancing yourselves from her, ignoring her and sending hurtful looks her way. Why? Because of me?" I said in a low voice. The trio's eyes widened at my behaviour.

"I don't care if you loathe me. I don't care about what you think of me. But how dare you hurt Y/n because of your petty hatred for me. You have made her miserable and for that, I will never forgive you. Y/n doesn't deserve to lose the only family she has left because of my dumb mistakes in the past that have led you to despise me. I came here to try and have a civilised conversation where my hope was we would talk things over and resolve whatever is going on calmly. But since you lot have acted like complete dicks to us since we walked through the door!" I glared at Potter and Weasel. "That has gone out the window. Y/n has done nothing to you. Nothing. And quite frankly I don't think you deserve her after the way you've treated her this past week. I hate seeing Y/n upset. I've never understood why she puts up with you lot, and I still don't understand. But you made her happy and you've ruined that. Why? Because you hate the fact she's with me. Because you think I'm going to change her or some messed up shit like that..."

"... I know I've not been the kindest and not the most open-minded person... but you are no better. Just because you are Gryffindor doesn't make you better than all the other houses. Believe me that mindset gets you nowhere in life. So listen here, scarhead, weasel and Granger, and tell this to your other friends too, apologise to Y/n, accept that what you did was fucked up, and pull your head out of your arse!" I yelled at the three Gryffindors.

I stormed off, as Y/n stayed behind. Confused and anger still evident on my face I turn around to see a shocked but proud Y/n sitting in front of the three dumbfounded Gryffindors: her eyes stared wide at me, filled with love. I called for her, snapping her out of her trance. Quickly, she jumped out of her seat and ran to my side. Our hand connected as we walked back out of the Great Hall, leaving the room in complete silence.

We headed back up to our dorm after I suggested that we could make something for dinner there. I unlocked our door and held it open for Y/n. I began to worry. She hasn't spoken since we left the Great Hall. I hated to think that I had made her mad about what I did. Or what is something I said?

"My love?" I called for her as she stood still in the centre of the living room. She turned to face me, tears in her eyes and a wide smile stretched across her face. She ran up to me and wrapped her arms around my waist with her face buried into my chest.

"Thank you. Thank you so much, Draco. No one has ever done something like that for me..." she sniffled out as she snuggled into my school jumper.

"It's alright, darling. Anything to make you happy" my arms tightly wrapped around her shoulders and my head fell to the crook of her neck. Her perfume, vanilla and lavender, filled my senses. I felt at home.

She is everything I need. All that I need.
