After the sorting ceremony was over at last, everyone began to head towards their first lesson. Transfiguration.

Hermione, being the organised witch she is, insisted that she show me the way to Transfiguration as well as showing me the rest of the castle along the way. Since we were quite early to leave, I agreed and followed her guidance.

Taking a few steps down the corridor, I heard the yell of my name from behind, causing me to whip around quickly. I noticed Ronald and Harry walking at a brisk pace to catch up with us.

"Bloody hell, you two sure walk fast. Are you trying to be early for Transfiguration? That ratty old Mcgonagall already loves you Hermione, you don't need to try any harder." Ronald says between short pants of breath.

"I'm not saying I agree with him, but I must say Hermione, you are already her favourite. I don't think it'd do much if you were early to her class." Harry added on.

"Alright, you two, that's enough. I wouldn't personally say that Mcgonagall likes me that much, but that's besides the point. I want to show Y/N around before class so that she won't get lost later on." Hermione tells them.

"I don't mind if you show me afterwards. I mean, the school can't be that big, can it?" I offer hesitantly.

Harry speaks first, "I would say quite the opposite, Y/N, you'll get lost for sure if you don't know your way around. And trust me, you do not want to get lost in here."

I wonder what he meant by that. Ignoring his comment, I turn back to Hermione.

"No, Y/N, I insist. Harry's right. Getting lost in Hogwarts is worse than getting a detention. And detention is already bad enough itself. Well, hurry up then, so we aren't late to Transfiguration."

We all pick up the pace a bit and start wandering around the school, Hermione's commentary added in frequently. Every now and then, we would all slowly come to a halt to look at something whilst Hermione explains what it is.

It was truly fascinating seeing how big the school really is. With the occasional ghost wading past us indifferently, the moving staircases that frighten me to Mount Greylock, and the people in the paintings chiming into the conversation like it was normal, I felt incredibly out of place.

We finally finished seeing everything I needed to see for now, when Hermione began to lead us back to McGonagall's classroom, in time for Transfiguration. Turning the corner of a corridor, I bumped into what felt like a stone wall. I fell back onto the ground with my books sprawled out next to me. A sharp pain shot up my right wrist but I chose to ignore it for now. Slowly, I sat up and began picking up my books.

I quickly stood up to apologise and met eyes with the one person I didn't think I would see again.

"Sorry," I muttered.

"Merlin, watch where you're going, Gryffindor," Mattheo snarked back.

Offended, I gave him a glare and then turned away to walk back to Hermione, Harry, and Ronald.

"Oi, sweetheart," he called out.

Expecting him to apologise for being so arrogant, I turned back to look at him.

"Maybe you should get your eyes checked before you go falling off the staircases," Mattheo yells after me.

A few chuckles can be heard from students loitering in the corridors, but that wasn't what bothered me. What bothered me most was this rude, self-absorbed prick who thought he was so funny. Yeah, right.

I shoot back a sarcastic smile and continue to walk away. If it weren't my first day, that guy would be completely battered. But, I told myself, no trouble. Just mind your own business. I'll deal with him later.
