"Hisashi!" (Y/N) screamed out blithely as she jumped off the cliff. She looked down at the clouds below her and felt the wind whip hair (H/C) hair against her cheeks and around her, ruffling her white dress as she descended.

Then suddenly the clouds parted and a magnificent white dragon flew up, its tail coiling and turning as it raced to pick her. She held her hand out and grabbed onto his two horns as he flew by her. She giggled loudly and hugged his neck as Hisashi raced across the white sky.

"I don't know why you love doing that." Hisashi said.

(Y/N) firmed her legs around Hishashi's neck and threw her hands in the sky, letting the wind curl around her fingers and tousle her hair.

"Because it's fun!"

"Well you've done it four times already, you do know we have to return back to the spirit world don't you?"

"Of course, one last time I swear. We only ever cross once every season, at least let me enjoy it a bit more." The small spirit all but begged her dragon.

Hisashi sighed. "Very well then, I guess you could."

(Y/N) squealed and hugged her dragon's neck. He chuckled, it was a low rumbling sound at the very base of his stomach.

They soared through the sky, making sure to stay hidden behind the clouds. The humans had a war between nations and the last thing either of them wanted was to be seen.

However, as the two lowered to the cliff side, (Y/N) could hear a loud roar that shook the forest, scarring away a flock of birds.

A dragon....

"(Y/N) no." Hisashi said sternly.

"There's only one dragon left in this forest." She said through gritted teeth.

"I won't have it." Hisashi said as (Y/N) got off his back.

She turned to him. He was colossal compared to her, her full frame reached to his flaring nostrils. She had to inch her head up to look into his eyes.

There was a loud broken roar followed by the shouts of man not far from where they stood.

(Y/N) touched the tip of Hisashi's snout, it was warm. "Huang is the last dragon in this forest, and probably the third last dragon in the whole world."

"It is against the Natural Balance to interfere with humans."

"Not entirely for me and you know that. I'll be safe I swear."

"I'm coming with you." Hisashi growled, taking a step forward. The stones under his claws crushed like sand under his massive weight.

"No. You are going back into the Spirit World. I can't ever risk you."

"(Y/N) I'm coming and that's-"

(Y/N) closed her eyes, lowered her head and touched her chest where her token was imbedded in her. The stone she touched with one hand glowed a bright orange and her other one hand was on Hisashi's snout.

There was a burst of light from fingers that ran through her and flowed through the Dragons scales.

She opened her eyes and Hisashi was gone; she had transported him back into the spirit world with her Token. As a Child of the Forest and Hisashi being her Guide, she could dismiss him from the physical realm if she wanted to. He couldn't travel freely from the Spirit World to the Physical World without her, it was almost impossible. It was much too unsafe for Hisashi to be exposed to the humans.

"I'm sorry buddy." She whispered, "I'll be right back, I promise."

A burst of fire shot through the sky and (Y/N) quickly turned in the direction of the source. She ran through the forest, the closer she got to Huang the closer she could hear the commotion. There was at least ten men.

She jumped over a small stream and could smell the scent of burning trees and grass.

Finally, she ran in through a clearing where a shirtless tall man stood, his hair was an aging silver but his body was rigid and covered in scars. By his feet was a weak crumbling bronze colored dragon; Huang. It had been defeated, its blood dampening the soil around it. It was chained down, the corners of it held in place by four men, all wearing Fire Nation uniform.

Even as it was being chained down it still defiantly growled and struggled against the restraint but the chain was much too heavy.

The man knelt down and looked into the dragons' eyes. Huang whimpered and struggled.

"Let him go!" She yelled, her fist clenched tight.

The four man holding the chains, the shirtless menacing old man and few others man scattered around the site looked around, as if searching for the voice.

Then one of them finally saw her and pointed.

"It's a child!"

The rest of them burst out laughing, the chains that kept Huang down jiggled and clinked as the soldiers holding it shook with laughter.

However, the old man did not even snicker. She glared at him and took another step forward.

"I said let him go." She repeated, this time in a low tone through gritted teeth.

A bald man stepped forward, out of them all he was the only one wearing a fancy garment. He must be a high ranking officer.

"You don't speak to the Fire Lord like that, infidel. You don't look more than 10 years old!"

Ignoring the bald man, she stepped forward. Her eyes burned orange.

She pointed accusingly at the old man. "You're not worthy enough to pin Huang down like that! You let him go right this instant!"

The Fire Lord walked over to Huang's head and slammed his foot down on the dragon's head. The Dragon growled in pain and he pressed his foot harder against the Dragons skin.

"Kill the child and let us return." He ordered emotionlessly as he spread his arms out and a servant quickly scurried to slip his robe on for him. He began walking away as a soldier walked towards the girl.

He brandished his sword and before he could even make an attack stance she rushed towards him and slammed her palm through his chest, she allowed just enough fire and power to send him flying back and knocked out cold.

Gasps echoed around her. To them what they saw was a fragile looking beautiful child in a white dress and barefooted with long (H/C) hair. They couldn't believe their eyes. Was this young child doing advance fire bending?

The Fire Lord turned, curious.

"Y-You heard the Fire Lord! Kill her!!" The bald man screamed the order.
Three soldiers advanced at her, their flames trickled by her as she effortlessly dodged them. She jumped into the air and from her palms she released a whole wave of fire that sent the soldiers flying back.

Four more soldiers attacked her, swinging their swords blindly. She dodged their swords with the grace of a cat. Finally, when she found an opening she stretched her arms out and released a heat wave that sent all of them flying back and gasping for air by her feet.

All that was left was the Fire Lord and the Bald guy but she ran towards Huang, whose chain wasn't being held down by anyone.

A leg followed by flames swung towards her in her peripheral. If she wasn't paying attention that would've caught her abdomen. She quickly spun back and as soon as her feet touched the earth she swiped her feet on the ground, knocking the assailer off his feet. It was the bald man.

A ball of scorching hot flame emitted from her palms and she slammed them all onto the ground where the bald man was. He quickly moved aside, not before the flames lashed at his right hand.
He cried out in pain. She turned and all the air was knocked from her lungs when a large callous hand wrapped itself around her throat.

She gasped for air and clawed at the hand as she looked up into the coldest unfeeling eyes she had ever looked into. It was the Fire Lord.

He looked at her with a look she couldn't quite understand, it was a mixture of awe, excitement and fear.

"You're not entirely human are you?" He asked almost curiously, his deep voice seemed to echo in her skull, leaving tremors down her spine.

He turned to the now almost unconscious dragon coated in its own blood and then back to her. She gasped and struggled, her legs wriggling in the air.

"You called the dragon by its name. You must be a Child of the Forest...and a Fire Wielder at that."

"I-I told you...n-not to g-go." A voice whimpered weakly.

(Y/N) was choking, her eyes turning red from the lack of air. She shifted her gaze to the voice of the dragon and her heart almost stopped when she saw that the dragon unconscious and beaten up half to death wasn't bronze, it was white; it was Hisashi.

"Hisas-shi n-no." She choked out.

Everything else blackened around her and Azulon's eyes glowed red as he glared down at her with such menace. He was growing bigger with every passing second until his sinister face was the only thing she could see. "You should have listened, you pathetic little fool. Now Hisashi will die because of you!"

"NO!!!!"

(Y/N) screamed and sat up so fast the whole room whirled around her. Her hands instinctively went to her neck; she could almost feel the heat from his large hand and the blistering and dryness in her throat.

She was coated in sweat, the sound of her heart hammering in her chest was the only resounding sound in the room, that and her heavy breathing.

She had been having this recurring nightmare since her capture. That was almost exactly how it all went down. Except for the last part. Azulon and her fought after she had burnt General Enzo and taken off the chain so that Huang could fly off. Unfortunately, Azulon had won.

She came into existence with Hisashi, their bond was not one of friendship only, and it ran deeper than words. Hisashi was the veins in her body, he was a part of her as much as she was a part of him; one could only exist for so long without the other.

The first sensation (Y/N) had ever felt was heat on her skin, then darkness all around her. It enveloped her, so much so that she felt that she was a part of this infinite darkness, succumbed to this feeling of security but she felt alone. She lost herself in this void for what felt like eternity. Finally a small fraction of light shone and as time passed it gradually increased until the light stabbed into the core of her being.

When she opened her eyes the first thing she saw was a pair of curious eyes. She blinked up at the dragon curiously and he stared down at her in awe. She instantly knew who he was; his name was Hisashi.

The dragon took a step forward. She remained completely still, transfixed by this marvelous creature’s beauty. He was pure white with a long sweeping tail behind him.

The dragon inched down and their foreheads met. A smiled curled at her lips and tears prickled her eyes, rolling down her chubby cheeks. She never understood why she cried but at that moment she felt a flash of pain and relief. She was complete with Hisashi.

He had been there from the start.

Hisashi I'm sorry. Forgive me.

She felt a lump in her throat and tears stream down her cheeks. She missed her dragon and she missed the spirit world. She missed the freedom and she missed the other children.

That night (Y/N) curled into a ball but she did not cry, she just stared at the wall numbly until she fell back into a slumber.
