"Hey Jeongyeon! You're going to be late if you don't hurry up!" A strong voice yelled from the kitchen as Jeongyeon was hurriedly packing her bag to head to the first day at J.Y. Park Law. Rated as one of the most esteemed law firms in South Korea, Jeongyeon was excited to start her first day as a trainee prosecutor. It had been almost two years since she finished her initial training at YG Firm, so other than a few odd jobs here and there, she hadn't had the chance to start her career. Jeongyeon jogged around the corner into the kitchen, her bag slung over one shoulder. She almost inhaled the eggs that Jihyo, her housemate, had made and chugged some juice before she ran to the front door. "Don't take the wrong bus this time!" Jihyo laughed and yelled from the kitchen. Jeongyeon just smiled and rolled her eyes, checking herself in the mirror before throwing the door open.

"I'll be back late tonight so try to stay up so I can tell you all about my first day. Have a good day at work and don't let your manager walk all over you again today!" Jeongyeon yelled this as she closed the door, running towards the steps. The elevator was slow in their building so she took the five flights of steps down, not wanting to risk being late. Just as she made it out of the building, the bus pulled up. Jeongyeon ran onto the bus and sat down, breathing heavily. She sighed in relief and laid her head back against the seat. She turned and looked out the window, shivering a little as her body got used to the warmer temperature in the bus. It was the middle of January so she had heavier clothes on to stay warm. Jeongyeon placed her bag on the seat beside her but moved it once an older woman got on at the next stop. "Oh, 할머니 (halmoni/grandmother) you can sit here." The older woman thanked her and took a seat.

"Where are you off to so early in the morning young lady?" The older woman turned to Jeongyeon and smiled.

"I'm starting my first day as a trainee prosecutor at J.Y. Park Law." Jeongyeon pulled out her I.D. badge from under her jacket and showed the woman. The older woman looked at her badge and then back up at Jeongyeon.

"Ah they hire such beautiful and smart people there. I think you'll do well. Where did you go to learn law?" The old woman asked Jeongyeon this as she looked through her bag.

Jeongyeon turned red and laughed a little as she answered the woman. "Thank you very much. I attended Yonsei University. I worked at YG Firm for my initial training but I haven't been able to practice law in a little while so I'm nervous."

The older woman just shook her head and patted Jeongyeon's hand. "I'm sure you'll do well. I've never known Mr. Park to ever hire anyone he didn't think was good. They helped my son win his case when he was robbed a few years ago." She turned Jeongyeon's hand over and placed something in it before getting up. "This is my stop. I wish you all the luck for today. You'll do well and I know you'll help everyone."

As the older woman got off the bus, Jeongyeon couldn't help the smile that was on her face. She looked down and opened her hand, laughing lightly at the red ginseng candy that she was given. She put the candy in her bag and looked back out the window. A few more stops passed until Jeongyeon finally got off. She stepped off the bus and stood in front of the J.Y. Park Law building. She couldn't believe that she had finally made it. All of her hard work was finally paying off.

Despite how early it was, the streets of Seoul were already crowded. Workers were heading to their jobs and students were headed to school. Jeongyeon pushed the doors open to the first floor of the J.Y.P Law building and was immediately astonished. Everything was modernized and there were so many different rooms and elevators just on the first floor. She took a look at her phone again to see the floor she'd mainly be working on and scanned her I.D. to take the elevator up to the 9th floor. Jeongyeon waited and nervously tapped her heel on the elevator floor as she watched the numbers climb higher.

The elevator doors opened and the office was buzzing with the sounds of keyboards, phones ringing, and people talking. Jeongyeon stepped out and slowly walked around the office, watching as people were busy at work. One person's computer caught her eye and she walked into the room she was working in. She looked at the article's title, A Viral Video of a Father's Fatal Abuse of Son Places Him Into Custody. Jeongyeon watched as the employee took notes. The person at the computer finished what she was writing and turned around. "Hi. Can I help you with something?"

Jeongyeon smiled and stuck her hand out to greet the new person. "Oh, yes. Hello. My name's Yoo Jeongyeon. I was looking for the head training prosecutor's room. It's my first day so I'm not sure where to go."

The person at the computer stood up and motioned towards the room. "Great to meet you. My name's Im Nayeon. You've made it, so congratulations on finding the room. It can be quite confusing when you first start, but President Park likes to have open office rooms for most of the floors." Nayeon smiled and picked up her notebook before guiding Jeongyeon out of the room. "Like I said, it can be a bit confusing at first but you'll get the hang of the office floor layouts soon. Unless we're having a meeting with President Park, you're highly unlikely to see him more than once every two weeks or so."

Jeongyeon nodded and pulled out a small notepad, trying to write everything down. As Nayeon led her around the floor, she made sure to make note of where the bathrooms and other main rooms were. By the time Nayeon had showed her around most of the building, they were at the 15th floor in front of J.Y. Park's door. "Why are we stopping here?" Jeongyeon stopped writing and looked at the door nervously.

"President Park likes to see all of the new permanent employees on their first day just to greet them. Don't worry. He doesn't bite, and I'll be standing out here to lead you back to our floor when you're done." Nayeon gave Jeongyeon an encouraging smile before knocking on the president's door.

"Come in." A stern voice spoke from behind the door and Jeongyeon took a deep breath before entering. She closed the door behind her and waited until President Park looked up from the case file he was holding. Jeongyeon walked a little closer and bowed, introducing herself.

President Park nodded and smiled, taking his glasses off.  He set them down on the dark oak desk and held up Jeongyeon's file. "I know who you are, Miss Yoo. I think it would do you well to know that I looked through your file and personally chose you to start a career at J.Y. Park Law. You did well at Yonsei and you were one of the top scorers on the bar exam. Your academic scores are spectacular and you seem to balance work and play quite well, looking at the clubs you were able to be involved in. Please, take a seat."

Jeongyeon thanked him and bowed again before sitting at one of the chairs in front of his desk. President Park's office was large but modestly decorated. He had his bachelor's, master's, and law degrees hung up on the wall and a few decorations placed throughout the room. There was only one family photo sitting on a shelf behind him mixed in with a few company awards from years past. Being at the top floor, he had a beautiful view of Seoul.

"Thank you for accepting our offer, Miss Yoo. I have a few general things to discuss with you about how this firm works, but I wanted to ask you a question first." President Park flipped through Jeongyeon's file and set it back down on his desk, looking up at her. "Why did you not stay with YG Firm? They're one of the biggest competitors with J.Y. Park Law and they offer great experiences for aspiring prosecutors like yourself."

Jeongyeon cleared her throat and shifted in her seat, trying to clear herself of the nervousness she was feeling. She placed her hands in her lap and held onto her bag. "Well sir, I did enjoy my time at YG Firm and I think the lawyers and employees there worked hard, but I didn't think it was the right place for me. I focused on criminal law at Yonsei, as per my file, and I know that J.Y. Park Law is one of the best firms when dealing with criminal law cases." Jeongyeon smiled nervously. "YG is a good law firm but I think that J.Y. Park is the perfect fit for me... or at least I hope it is."

The two spoke for a few moments before President Park closed Jeongyeon's file and stood up. He extended his hand to shake hers, again welcoming her to the law firm. Jeongyeon got up and shook his hand. "I'm glad to have you here, Miss Yoo. I look forward to what you'll be able to bring to this firm and to the team. Work hard and you'll be working cases independently in no time." Jeongyeon thanked him again before walking out, smiling at Nayeon as they made their way back down to the floor where Jeongyeon would be training.

As the elevator made its way down, it stopped on the 11th floor. Not thinking anything of it, Jeongyeon looked up from her notebook to see who was getting on. The doors opened, and she was met with the shock of her life.

"Good morning Miss Myoui."
