Found things remind us of the things we never want to lose.

Annabeth Carter-Pierce came from a long line of strong and independent women who taught her to be great. Both, her Aunt Peggy and her mother were great examples of never-ending heroism. Growing up, she wanted to be just like them.

Obviously, Tony Stark just had to be the piece on the board that didn't fit. She really didn't mind though—Tony had crawled through her heart and created a home where no one but he could reside.

Tony Stark was Annabeth's everything. He was the reason she found light in the darkest tunnels.

But it's very easy to lose all that ever mattered to you and with a loss that never seemed to leave Annabeth, she left Tony.

She was lost without Tony but in her eyes, all she ever did was hurt him.

This story is a telling of the tale of two unlikely people with too many should-haves, could-have-beens, and almosts. Too many chances and too many forgotten yesterday's and tomorrow's. Like water on stone, history has a way of taking the little things from the greatest stories, stealing away more delicate details and leaving only polished edges.

Annabeth was such a detail in Tony's story— lost and kept hidden in the back of everyone's mind.

She was there but she wasn't really; she hadn't been for the longest time. In the most simplest of words, Annabeth Carter was lost.

But wasn't there a saying about lost things finding their way back home?
