Brother!Dustin x Sister!Reader

Laying on my last piece of makeup, I quickly smile at myself in the mirror before opening the bathroom door and walking out. "This is going to be so cool!" I hear Dustin yell as he slips his makeshift vacuum onto his back. "Me and the guys have been planning this for months now," he states, matter-of-factly.

Turning toward me, Dustin pauses for a second before gasping with a surprised laugh. "You're dressed like Janine!" He points out, our mom smiling behind her camera. She knew I planned on doing this all along. Although, I had to make her promise not to tell Dustin about my costume, of course.

Grinning, I walk toward him before posing with him for a picture. "It's a big sister's job to make her little brother as happy as he can be," I assure him, placing an arm around him to hold him close. Dustin grins as Mom quickly snaps the photo before walking away and into the kitchen to put the Polaroid on the counter.

"But, are you sure you don't want to come as slimer?" Dustin asks, turning to me with an amused smile. His words make me smirk and roll my eyes. Along with planning the costumes with his friends for months, Dustin has been asking me to go as slimer with them. Of course, at the same time, I was hiding the fact that I would go as Janine Melnitz to surprise him, and yet, even if I weren't, I still would not be going as slimer.

"I'm honored," I joke, sarcasm lacing my voice. "But I prefer this professional outfit more than a bunch of green fabric bunched together to make me look like... well... slime," As soon as the words leave my lips, Dustin and I both chuckle while mom ushers us to get back together for a few more photos.

After being blinded by several more bright lights, I adjust my fake eyeglasses and straighten my sweater vest before heading out to the front porch where Dustin and I get on our bikes and ride to school. Another surprise I didn't plan on telling Dustin was that I'd be escorting him and his friends to class. A, because I wanted to, and B, because I know kids are going to make fun of them or point. Knowing my brother and his friends, they won't say anything back to defend themselves - but I will.

Arriving at their school, Dustin and I park our bikes before heading up to his friends, each in their designated ghostbuster costume... well, except for Lucas.

"There's nothing wrong with being..." Mike begins to tell his fellow friend something, only to forget speaking upon seeing me and Dustin walk up, smiling. Dustin and his friends all give each other hugs before giving me one as well, Will lingering in my arms the longest.

"Janine!" Mike points out my costume, making me laugh.

"‪Ghostbusters‬, whaddaya want?!" I quote the character in my best nasally voice, trying my hardest not to burst with laughter in the middle of the sentence. My words cause me and all the boys to laugh until they slowly quiet down as if something dawned on them. A few seconds of silence pass as they watch more kids leave the bus, their quietness concerning me.

"Nobody else is wearing a costume!" Lucas announces, sounding panicked.

"Why the hell isn't anyone else wearing a costume?!" Dustin asks no one in particular, his eyes flashing up to mine for help.

"Because no one else is as cool as you guys are, simple as that," I tell all the boys with an encouraging smile. "Now, come on," I say, placing my hands on Dustin's and Mike's back. "You're going to be late if you don't get a move on."

Heading into the halls, middle schoolers from all age groups stare at the almost cowering boys before one rudely shouts, "Look, everybody! Nerds are making a comeback!" The young boy's booming and obnoxious voice makes me roll my eyes. Why do kids have to pick on each other for being different?

"Your mean words aren't going to earn you any friends," I say back to the boy, his grin disappearing immediately. Even though the insult was small, karma's still a bitch.

The boys hide their laughter behind their hands in response to my comment before turning into their first classroom. Smiling, I bid them all goodbye before leaving their school and hopping back onto my bike. The ride across the parking lot is a bit bumpy, but I make it there in a few seconds, nonetheless, and just in time to see my boyfriend at his locker.

Popping next to Jonathan, I watch him smile and look at me from the corner of his eye, only to have to take a double-take at my clothes. "What the hell are you wearing?" He amusedly asks with a light laugh. My smirk turns into a grin.

"‪Ghostbusters‬, whaddaya want?" I quote Janine once again, making him laugh. Chuckling, I lay my head on his shoulder and sigh. "I walked the boys into school," I explain, Jonathan's arm wrapping around my waist as he pulls a textbook from his locker. "And I wanted to surprise them at the same time."

"It explains why you didn't want me picking you up this morning," Jonathan points out. "Although, you certainly surprised me," he admits, making me giggle.

"What? Do you not like my outfit?" I ask him, gesturing to my plaid sweater and black skirt. Smiling, Jonathan glances down at my clothes a few times before sticking to my eyes.

"No, no, I love it," he tells me, his voice low and almost boyish. "In fact..." he turns back to his locker and takes out his camera, his fingers practically dancing against the buttons of the Pentax.

"Let's go out to the back and take pictures," he suggests, making me smile. I don't know if it's his love for taking pictures or just me, but it seems like he takes any chance he can get to take photos of me. It's almost every day that I see a quick flash before turning and seeing Jonathan blushing and smiling behind his camera.

Walking out to the back of the school where none of the teachers can see us, I lean against the steps and smile as Jonathon takes pictures. I'll be honest and say that if anyone else were behind that camera, I would be hiding my face. However, with Jonathan, the constant photography he does has somehow made me more confident. If it weren't for him, I probably would have stuck to wearing my regular clothes today instead of dressing up like Janine. But, seeing how excited my brother and his friends got when seeing me dressed up as another character to the movie they're trying to portray, I'm glad I did this. Besides, I think Jonathan likes the outfit too.

Moving to the parking lot, I lean against Jonathon's 71 Ford Galaxie and brush my hair behind my shoulder while smiling. "Do you like the view?" I ask Jonathan as I lean my arm against my head, trying to look only slightly sexy.

Blushing from both my question and my almost seductive pose, Jonathan lowers his camera once he takes the pictures before exposing his smile and nodding. "I fucking love it," he shyly answers me, making me giggle. Jonathan is usually never this outspoken, but who can blame him? His girlfriend is currently leaning against his car with a suggestive look on her face - what boyfriend wouldn't be bothered?

Watching as Jonathan looks over at something behind us, I watch his smile slowly drop before he walks over to me and wraps a protective arm around my waist. Confused, I don't resist him pulling me against him before walking back up to the entrance of the school.

"What was that about?" I gently prod him for an answer, his death glare being one I've never seen before. Jonathan waits a few seconds before sighing and looking back at me with the same soft eyes I love.

"That new asshole kid was checking you out at his car," he explains, sounding ashamed of admitting what shook him up. Peering over to the parking lot, I see the student (I think his name is Billy or something) leaning against his car with a cigarette dangling from his smirking mouth. Sure enough, his eyes are cast at me while he tries his best to look big and macho.

"I don't like it," Jonathan tells me, his grip on me tightening a bit. I don't think he realizes he's doing it, but then again, I've never seen him get protective like this before.

Shaking my head, I look back up at Jonathan and smile, the height difference between us making everything a bit cuter. "I know, Jon," I assure him, moving a hand up to his soft cheek, my fingertips resting against the delicate skin there. "Quite frankly, I don't either," I say more to myself than him. "But why don't we ignore it and head to photography class. We can hang out in the darkroom if you want?"

Taking his mind off the rude new boy, Jonathan lets a tiny, barely noticeable smile return to his lips before he moves a hand into mine, his hold on me now more gentle and relaxed. Any of the other students in our photography class know that the darkroom is like mine and Jonathan's personal haven. They also know that if they happen to go in there when we're in there, they might walk in us simply talking and developing photos, or kissing each other until the day's end.

Making our way to said room, we quickly head in and close the door behind us before Jonathan nearly knocks me over while trying to push me up against the wall. Lightly laughing, I smile upon seeing Jonathan happy once again before he attaches his lips to mine in a passionate kiss. Moving his hands to my waist, he grazes over my scratchy sweater before pulling back a bit, his lips now slightly swollen and pink. "Happy Halloween," he tells me, just before diving back into a kiss. You just have to love this boy.
