S2E3 - Ice Pick

"McCall, I don't know why but your pain gives me a special kind of joy." Coach said sitting down on the mattress next to Scott. "Alright, next two! Jones, Erica, let's go. The wall." He said standing up again.

Sasha stopped talking to Lydia, went straight to the wall and began to climb with ease. Scott watched her quietly and couldn't help but think that something was strange. Sure the young woman had always been good at sports and very athletic, but she seemed to have it easy, too easy.

She was almost at the top of the wall when she heard a jerking breath and some whimpers. Sasha looked down and saw Erica in trouble. She was hyperventilating and seemed to be really scared.

"Help, please." Erica whined.

The young woman was in total distress as Coach asked if she was afraid of heights. Lydia told him that vertigo was only a disfunction of the vestibular system of the inner ear and Erica was just freaking out. Some of the student started to make fun of the poor girl even though most of them knew she was epileptic and climbing the wall was dangerous for her.

"Erica, look at me. It's all right. We're going down together, alright?" Sasha said to her when she reached her height.

The blond look at the other young woman and gave her a thin smile. She tried to move but froze, fear taking over her.

"Everything's fine. I got you." Jones told her before getting a little closer and handing out her hand.

Erica shakily took her hand and together they went down the wall. Once they were on the ground, Sasha congratulated her and tried to reassure her but she could only hear the other teenagers laughing. Erica thanked her and quickly left the gym, trying to hide her tears.

"Erica was maybe scared of climbing the wall but she will get past that. You, you will always be some insecure assholes who need to put the others down because they can't face their own shit." Sasha snapped making everyone freeze immediately. "Coach you should know that bullies thrive were authority is weak." She added causing him to widen his eyes.

The young woman removed her harness and headed for the locker room while all eyes were on her. Sasha had always stood up for others, but she had never spoken like this, especially not to Coach. After a minute, the students began to leave the gym in silence. The reprimand they just received had definitely calmed them down.

Scott and Stiles were back in the locker room when Coach got out of his office. He had just received a call from the police station about one of his former player.

"Listen up. Anybody sees Isaac Lahey, you immediately tell the principal, get a teacher, or you call me. Except for you, Greenberg. Don't call me for anything." Finstock said loudly. "I'm not kidding. Don't call me. You shouldn't even have my number." He muttered quietly getting back in his office.

"Something's clearly going on with Sasha. Firstly, I got this strange feeling. Secondly, she climbed the wall way too fast and easily and then you saw the way she snapped at everyone and the way she talked to Coach." Scott whispered to Stiles while they were heading to their personal lockers to get changed.

"Maybe we should ask her instead of making assumptions. She's been back in school for almost a week now and none of us tried to talk to her." The mischief kid replied. Since her return, he exchanged glances with his former friend but he's been so caught up in the supernatural, he didn't take the time to catch up with her.

"I'm pretty sure Sasha is avoiding me. Maybe you should talk to her." McCall added disappointed. He saw her exchange glances with Stiles but never with him. He had an idea why. If his hunch was right, she was avoiding him because he could discover the truth about her, about her secrets.

"Alright, I think you are wrong. She is probably waiting for us to make the first move because she was away for more than a year meanwhile we remained friends. Sasha is just worried she lost her place in our team. Concerning her outburst, I remind you that she lost her twin brother, of course she's not as bright as before." Stiles hypothesized. When he received no answer, he turned to his friend. "Are you even listening to me?" He asked, annoyed.

Scott looked at his hand which was frantically shaking and instantly began to run towards the gym. When he got in, Erica was laying on the ground having an episode while Sasha was holding her.

"How'd you know?" Scott asked her sitting beside her former friend.

"I saw her leave the locker room." Sasha replied controlling her heartbeat, knowing that Scott was listening to it. Even if it remained steady, she knew that he didn't believe her. She knew that Scott was suspicious but she couldn't let him discover the truth. He was part of his pack, and she could be a threat to him.

The next day, Sasha was walking towards her locker when she heard crying coming from the bathroom. She hesitated for a few seconds, but decided to go in and see. Before Sebastian's death, she used to be willing to help others all the time, she used to be a good person. Maybe she could become one again. The young woman entered the bathroom and immediately recognized Lydia's sweet scent. She walked to the closed door and knocked softly.

"Lydia? It's Sasha. Are you okay?" She asked gently.

On the other side of the door, the strawberry blonde wiped her cheeks before getting up and unlocking the door. When she was in front of Sasha, she threw herself into her arms. The young woman was surprised by Lydia's action, but she said nothing and tightened her embrace. The two used to be friends, and even though they'd only spoken a few times since her return, Lydia still trusted her.

"You want to talk about it?" Sasha asked her when she pulled out of their embrace.

"I don't know if you want to listen to me... It's about Jackson." Lydia replied, slightly embarrassed.

"Jacks can be an ass. What did he do?" The young woman said before opening the door and leading the way to her locker.

"He was angry and he started talking nonsense and accusing me of ruining it for him, of doing it to him but I have no idea what he was talking about." Lydia told her still confused.

Sasha understood what Jackson was referring to. He probably thought that his ex-girlfriend was immune to the werewolf bite and she passed it to him, but she couldn't say that to Lydia. The strawberry blond was oblivious to the supernatural.

"Yesterday he told me that he got into a fight with his parents. I'm not saying it excuses his behavior, but I don't think he's really angry at you. You have nothing to blame yourself for, Jackson has just never been good at managing his anger." Sasha said before opening her locker.

"Thank you Sasha." Lydia said. "I know you always denied it, but I also know Jackson deeply loves you and I can't help but wonder if you ever secretly dated." She asked with a genuine curiosity.

"No, we never dated, but we actually kissed once. I threw up right after and Jackson washed his mouth with soap." They young woman chuckled. "We clearly love each other but not in that way." She added.

"I never got the chance to tell you, but I'm sorry for your loss. Sebastian was a great guy and what happened... It was terrible. I know it's been more than a year, but I'm here for you if you want to talk about it." Lydia told her with a sad smile.

"I'm glad Jackson had you. He lost his best friend and you helped him get through it." She said sincerely.

"Yeah, it was hard for him. I couldn't imagine what it was like for you. He was your brother." The strawberry blond put a hand on her friend's shoulder and gently rubbed it.

Sasha gave her a thin smile but didn't say a word. Even after more than a year, she still didn't want to talk about Sebastian. That day, she didn't just loose her brother, she lost her best friend, her confident, her better half and it still hurt her like an open wound.

Scott and Stiles were sitting in the cafeteria when all eyes turned to the tall blonde wearing a black miniskirt and a tight white top making her entrance. The two teenagers looked at her and immediately recognized her. She confidently approached a young man, bent down, picked up his apple and took a sensual bite.

"What the holy hell is that?" Lydia asked eying the hot blond.

"It's Erica." Scott  quietly replied.

Erica gave a wicked smile to the young boy and started to leave the cafeteria, swaying her hips a little more than usual. Scott and Stiles froze for a whole minute, then stood up and tried to follow her.

They walked down the stairs and arrived at the front door of the building, but Scott stopped and motioned to his friend to do the same. He whispered to him that Erica was just outside the door, talking to Sasha. The two teenagers leaned against the door and began to eavesdrop.

"I wanted to thank you for helping me yesterday. But it won't longer be necessary. I'm kinda different now." Erica said presumptuously.

Sasha knew immediately what was going on. The day before, Erica was a shy, insecure, epileptic girl while today it was quite the opposite. Such a drastic change was only possible in one way and her beta smell confirmed it. Erica had been bitten.

"You know Sasha, I wish I was this confident before Sebastian's death. I had a huge crush on him, I mean, he was super hot." She added cockily.

The young woman felt her blood boil at these words. She clenched her fists and felt her claws digging into her palms.

"Your sudden confidence doesn't give you the right to be a bitch, especially to me. I always treated you with respect, you should do the same. So don't ever talk about my brother again." She told him in a threatening tone.

"Or what?" Erica couldn't help but reply. All day long, she had been awfully arrogant to people and she didn't even realize that she was right now, to Sasha, one of the only person who had always stood up for her and never made fun of her.

"Listen to me very carefully Erica, the world we live in is dangerous. There are people who don't like those who are different and they're ready to do anything to stop them." Sasha says as she takes a step closer. Doing so, she caught the scents of two teenage boys. "There are also people who see themselves as, let's say, Alphas of society, who will make you great promises, make you believe that they are on your side and that they will protect you no matter what. Let me give you some advice. Don't trust them too much." She whispered in her ear and Scott widened his eyes.

Then Sasha gave her one last look before heading to her car at the other end of the parking lot. Scott and Stiles took the opportunity to exit the school and saw a black Camaro pull into the middle of the road. A second later, Erica got into the car and the driver turned his head in their direction and grinned before starting the engine. Scott and Stiles understood how Erica had gone from a shy, insecure girl to a confident, super-hot young woman.

"Derek is building his pack. First Isaac, now Erica. He needs three beta, so we got to figured out who's next." Scott said.

"Yeah and we really need to talk to Sasha." Stiles replied.

"I told you something was up with her. She made a pretty clear allusion to hunters and to Alphas..." The young beta murmured, worried about how his former best friend knew about the supernatural.
