YAY SPOOKY SEASON EVERYONE!! It's my Fav monthhhh guys! Also PART ONE OF THE 'TOBER ONESHOTS!!! I know it's already Oct 2nd for some of you. (EHEM BIG BRO AND MID BRO EHEM) But ignore that and just pretend it's not (:

Unedited — Ngl, not too proud of this one.

But! My other Halloween oneshots that I started, THOSE are good. I just wanted an Intro oneshot and was too lazy to rewrite this. Hope you guys like it BECAUSE I DONT!!

—————

It all started because of a knock on the door.

David groaned, flipping back over in his bed. When the knocks became more persistent, he finally got up, immediately annoyed that he was woken up too early in the morning. It's not like he was going to be able to go back to sleep now, anyways. He might as well wake up.

He groggily pulled on pants over his boxers, and trudged downstairs, not even bothering finding his coat as his head throbbed from the devastating early morning sunlight. The knocking slowly got louder, and David had no idea why they hadn't just walked in yet, considering the Ice Devil Slayer had literally no door.

When he saw Lucas passed out on the couch downstairs, he realized why. Shit. He was still at Lucas's house, wasn't he?

David looked around the room, rubbing his eyes to clear his vision. A nice looking kitchen, a hammock near the sofa, a bunch of pictures made by Plant hung up neatly in the corner, the mahogany coffee table, and a doorframe with an actual door installed with it. Yeah, he was definitely at Lucas's house. He was pretty sure it had rained last night. He going to have to check his garden later.

But who would want to bother Lucas at 8am was beyond him. Even David had the decency to wake up at least at eight thirty. Anything earlier was completely unreasonable to normal people standards. Granted, their guild was anything but normal, but still! This was just madness. Absolute utter madness.

David sighed, rolling his eyes as the knocking got louder and went up to the front door. He undid the lock, failing many times to move the metal hinge, before pushing door open only to see something very... well... unexpected.

There, at Lucas's door, at 8 o'clock in the morning, was Mario, Kit, Inmo, and a wagon filled with what appeared to be... Halloween decorations.

"Hi!" Inmo said cheerily, acting like he had at least 4 shots of espresso because Gods, how did somebody act like a total hyperactive moron this early in the morning?

"What— Heh?" Was the only thing that David said, because it was the only thing that David could process.

"You finally opened to door, jesus!" Kit said, rolling her eyes. David squinted at her, crossing his arms.

"Hey, listen Dibi. It's not my fault you and the rest of your group of idiotic numb brains came knocking at my door at 8 am," David said, rolling his eyes. He glanced back at the red wagon, and then looked at the three confused. "Yeah, why are you guys here, anyways?"

"Well you see—," Both the younger guild
members started to say, before Mario cut them off.

"Halloween, obviously," The Dragon Slayer, who also happened to be David's crush, said with a large grin on his face.

David raised an eyebrow. "Heh?"

Mario sighed, before grabbed a calendar that seemed to materialize out of nowhere and shoving in into David's face. The Devil Slayer grabbed the calendar from his boyfriend's hands, seeing that the page was flipped into the month of... October?

But, he thought it was still September— Oh, wait, It was the first day of October... Wasn't it?

Mario seemed to read his face, because a grin spread readily across his features.

"Yeah, It's October. You know what the means?" The dragon slayer asked. David only had to guess once by the orange, purple, and black decorations in the cart behind them and how Inmo had a cool little cat clip in his hair what they were talking about.

David hummed. "So you want to decorate for Halloween?"

The look of glee that spread across all three their faces told David he hit the mark. He was a little surprised, but not overwhelmed by Mario's enthusiasm. The Dragon Slayer seemed far less grouchy back on Halloween last year when the two still didn't really know each other that well. He wasn't too surprised.

The Devil Slayer sighed, groaning as he moved back into the house and back towards the stairs. "Give me five minutes." David called over his shoulder, "Then I guess I can help you with your stupid Halloween thing."

The cheers that had erupted from the three afterwards though, well, that made everything totally worth it.

Turns out that decorating was fairly easy when you had a water mage and an earth mage on your side. Even though they had a whole island to do.

To make their work easier, they split the work up. Kit was in charge of lighting all the candles and lanterns that she put around the island, and Plant was going with her to help grow pumpkins and vines up the side of buildings while Inmo helped them make sure everything was in place.

While they were doing that, Lucas, David and Mario were in charge of the more scary decorations. Mario was helping imbed fake tombstones in the ground and hide wires to the moving jump scare skeletons and ghosts with his earth powers, which David reckoned he had done several times before with his flawless execution.

Lucas was in charge of those giant spider webs they were placing every other corner, and placing the spiders along with it. He was also hanging ghosts from trees and occasionally placing a couple black cat statures around the Island, all in places that people wouldn't expect as to get the max possible scare factor from them. David, meanwhile, was in charge of placing mummies and several fake severed limbs around the place. He had also gotten multiple jars (an entire cart full) of fake blood and was shooting it all over the decorations with a water gun he found in his attic.

"How do you do that so easily?" Lucas called as Mario finished burying an electrical wire that connected a jump scare Grim Reaper stature to power in the guild hall. The Dragon Slayer turned around, shrugging.

"Practice," He said with his usual bland look. Lucas and David exchanged a glance, wondering how much experience and practice somebody could actually get while burying hook up electrical wires, but neither of them decided to question it, knowing full well at this was Mario and that Mario was not to be questioned.

"Cool," Lucas said instead, frowning at David as he shoot his arm with some fake blood. Lucas rolled his eyes while David laughed his ass off, Mario elbowing him as he moved on to pack the dirt back into the ground.

"Alright, enough of that," Mario said, rolling his eyes as David pouted. David couldn't half but think that he looked cute when he was focused on analyzing the decorations they had, clearly taking his job seriously. David thought that it was adorable. "Would you guys be willing to help me put up the lights?"

David raised an eyebrow. "What lights would you be talking about, exactly?"

Mario turned around, gesturing behind him. David moved so that he could see what Mario was looking at. Around 10 feet away on the edge of the grass, David spotted a pile of Orange and black colored lights tangled in a pile on the ground. There was a giant mound of them, enough to probably hang off the whole doorway and first level of the Guild hall. David didn't understand how anybody could have this many lights for a holiday that wasn't Christmas, but Christmas was David's holiday. Mario was a Halloween enthusiast. He couldn't take that away from him.

"Those lights," He replied simply, grabbing the end of a cord with his right hand, "So, you guys going to help me, or what?"

Lucas and David exchanged a look. "I mean, sure," Lucas said, shrugging, "I'm not exactly sure how much a Water Mage could help, though."

Mario nodded. "I was thinking that I could tie the lights to the roof with vines, and maybe get Ech to help me a bit, but I need somebody to hold them in place while I tie them up."

David raised a hand as though he was about 11. "I can make an ice tower to get us up there," He said, gesturing to the awning of the guildhall and the windows along the front of the outside. Mario sent him a smile, which made his heart basically leap for joy, his stomach squirming as he heartbeat rising.

Resisting the urge to frown, David squashed down his feelings, trying to rid them form his thoughts. It's not like Mario would ever like him like that, anyways. Sadly, he had a hopeless crush. On a crazed dragon slayer Halloween enthusiast that was also one of the hottest people alive, but a crush none the less.

"That's perfect," He said, cracking his knuckles. The actual excitement David could see on his face made him go soft.

Lucas grabbed one side of the lights and gripped on tightly to David's forearm. He nodded, and David grinning, creating a rising pillar to carry Lucas and David far up enough to spread the lights out. "Okay, I'm going to pillar that way. Are you good, here?" David asked his brother, slightly concerned.

Lucas began to nod, but before he could say anything, a voice that sounded incredibly close cut him off. "What are you two doing?" They both recognized that voice. Of course, a specific white haired guild leader had to interrupt them at the worst possible time.

Lucas yelped, tumbling backwards as he slipped on the frosted ice, momentarily free falling. Luckily, Brandon swooped in, grasping on tightly to Lucas's and waist to keep him from falling for more than a few feet. And boy, David would have payed money to catch the look that Lucas had on his face on camera. His face was completely red, his breath caught in a stutter and his brown eyes wide with surprise and fluster. David had to physically repress himself from bursting out into heavy laughter at the sight.

"Uh-- We we're-- I-- Uhm--" Lucas stuttered, his face a blushing mess.

"We're putting up Halloween lights!" David interrupted, saving his brother from even further embarrassment. David sent Lucas a smirk, which he replied to with rolling his eyes and pouting slightly when Brandon placed him back safely on the stone ledge next to where David was standing.

Brandon raised an eyebrow, crossing his arms as he looked between Lucas and David. "David, don't you... like... hate Halloween?" Brandon asked as he eyed the obnoxiously long tangle of lights that trailed between David's hands.

"Oh, he does," A voice spoke from behind him, which made David jump this time. To be honest, he probably would have fallen if he hadn't iced his feet to his pillar, although he would never admit it. Behind him was Ritchie, nonchalantly sipping on some beer as he sat on the roof about 5 feet above them all. He was smirking as he continued. "He's simping for Mario."

David spluttered, a blush rising to his cheeks which made all of them snicker at him. "I am not!" David protested, to which Lucas rolled his eyes.

"David, you know this isn't going to work. One, Mario is right down there," Lucas started, pointing to where Mario was on the ground, spinning a throwing knife in his hand and repeatedly catching the tip of the blade just before it could cut his hand. When he saw Lucas pointing at him, he nonchalantly waved, before summoning up two vines to toss the knife back and forth instead. David felt his blush get a little stronger. Curse Mario and his stupid cuteness— It wasn't fair!

"Number two," Lucas continued with a sassy tone, "Don't pretend like I didn't see that the only reason you got out of bed this morning was to eye Mario when he actually looked semi excited for once."

David groaned, burying his face in his hands while the two guild leaders and his best bro all laughed at him. "You guys are the worst," David pouted while he began to untangle the lights. He looked back down at Mario, who sent him a small thumbs up and summoned a vine from the ground while pointing down again at the string of lights.

"Anyways, do you guys want to help us so Lucas doesn't fall to his death again?" David asked, attempting to change to subject.

Ritchie and Brandon shared a look, before both of them shrugged. "Sure, why not?" Ritchie voiced, standing up from where he was sitting.

"Cool," Lucas smiled, especially hard at Brandon, which made the white haired guild leader gain the ghost of a smile. Ritchie and David shared an exasperated look. They started dating 2 months ago, as they found out through spying, and still haven't publicly told anybody. Nobody knew what was taking them so long. "Brandon, can you fly over with this end of the lights? Ritchie with the other? Mario's going to tie them with vines."

Both the twins nodded in unison, the two of them heading different directions, Ritchie stormblinking, while holding different ends of the multicolored lights. Once they were in position, Mario grew vines from cracks in the stone, wrapping them around the ends and middle of the lights to keep them in place. David couldn't help but note that he was hot when he was focused, even from a distance. He was so absorbed that he didn't even realize when Lucas moved to sit next to him.

"So... you and Mario... Huh?" Lucas giggled, causing David to roll his eyes.

"Oh my hell! You have no right to bully me about my crush on Mario when you clearly have one on Brandon and refuse to act!" David shot back, which caused a blush to arise on Lucas's face, freckles popping against his red tinted skin. David hadn't told him he knew yet. He would rather bully him a little more first.

They were both silent for just a minute, the two spending a moment in silence just thinking about their crushes. Of course until Ritchie and Brandon came back and Ritchie immediately started to make kissing noises in David's ear as he noticed Mario starting to float up on a rock. David pushed Ritchie away while Mario raised an eyebrow, using David's arm to hold him steady as he hopped onto the ice pillar.

"What did I miss?" Mario asked, elbowing David's stomach.

"They're bullying me, Mario! This is ice mage harassment!" David whined, causing Mario to snicker at his misfortune.

"Ah yes, I approve," Mario said, giving a thumbs up, which made everyone but David burst out laughter.

The Devil Slayer wiped a fake tear. "Mario, you're supposed to be the nice one, what the hell!" He groaned, causing Mario to snicker.

"No, Lucas is the nice one," Mario mused, "I just like things that make me happy. Like seeing you suffer."

"Seeing me suffer makes you happy?"

Mario shrugged. "Sometimes. Depends."

David sighed and shook his head. "I feel so amazingly loved and appreciated right now."

David was absolutely positive that Lucas was sending him an incredibly large smirk. Mario didn't bicker this carelessly with just anyone. It seemed all his friends knew it too by the looks that they were sharing, the knowing funny glances that made them all snicker quietly. David blushed a bit, although Mario didn't seem to notice anything unusual, casually leaning on David as he spoke.

"By the way. Ritchie, why are you here?" Mario asked, crossing his arms as he looked over at his blue haired guild leader.

Ritchie raised an eyebrow. He had moved so that now his legs were dangling over the edge of the guildhall and he was peering down at all his guildmates. "Why? Was I supposed to be doing something today?" He asked sarcastically, but Lucas nodded.

"Weren't you supposed to leave to see Michael today?" Lucas asked him, crossing his arms with a slight smirk.

Ritchie's face froze. In a flash of electricity, he was gone, a faint yell of the word 'shit' following him as he teleported away. Mario snickered, which made David's heart flutter in his chest as the shorter boy leaned against him, holding onto him to keep him from falling on the ice. David sent up a bit of his magic, freezing Mario's feet to his pillar. The Dragon Slayer didn't need to be anymore injuries than he already had.

"Anyways, now that's over, do you need me for anything else?" Brandon asked, yawning as he floated upwards, "Because I have nothing else to do."

David opened his mouth to speak, but Lucas beat him to it. "You could help us put the lights up on the other side of the doorway," He suggested, a smile on his face as Brandon shrugged and nodded.

"Sure. We'll see you over there," Brandon said, grasping two hands around Lucas's waist and pulled him to sit on his cross crossed lap as he levitated over to the other side of the guild hall.

Mario and David shared a look, the boys both chuckling at the two boyfriend antics. David lowered them to the ground, the two chatting as they made there way over to the other side of the guild hall. David's heart fluttered. Sure, maybe he didn't really like Halloween, and definitely preferred Christmas to it instead, but seeing Mario happy, well, David preferred that to about anything.

And seeing Mario chase Inmo with two giant boulders after he accidentally blew up a giant skeleton? That was even better.

I don't really like how this turned out :( The ending feels sort of sudden, but I couldn't think of another way to cut it off. THE OTHER HALLOWEEN ONESHOTS IVE FINISHED ARE MUCH BETTER !!
