Levy P.O.V

I was watching out the window at the wandering dead. We had been at the dojo for nearly a week now waiting for Jellal to recover his strength. We had been taking shifts to watch the East horizon like the letters said, but so far there was nothing. I frowned slightly as I watched the corpses walk, there was something different.

Well, about as different as a corpse could get.

I couldn't tell what it was, but their heads kept turning to look at the sky, or towards a bird that flew away in a fright. I was so focused on them that I didn't hear the footsteps behind me, and I nearly screamed as a large hand grabbed my shoulder. " Damn it Gajeel." I gasped, slumping back in my seat as I gasped for breath. He chuckled and lifted me out of my seat,"The hell are you doing?!" I whisper yelled, not wanting to alert the things outside. He plopped into my seat before settling me into his lap. I blushed bright red and tried to wiggle off him, "Gajeel what are y-" "Just shut up and relax pipsqueek." He grumbled, his arms tightening around her waist.

I grumbled as I calmed down and faced back out the window. I don't know why I was so embarrassed, this was Gajeel, my best friend. He was always by my side in all the years we've known each other, even now in during this apocalypse he was here.

I continued to grumble in frustration as we watched out the window, the heat never leaving my face. I stiffened slightly as he laid his head on my shoulder and to tried to look at him, but his hair was covering his face. " Stop moving." He grumbled and I huffed. "Look... I'm not good with words so just go with it..." He mumbled next and I stopped. He didn't wait for a response as he continued. " i was gonna tell you... At that stupid dance you were gonna drag me to... But... Now Iv run out of time. I never know if we will survive till the morning." He let out a humorless chuckle and tightened his grip on me but I didn't say anything.

"Look Shrimp... Levy... What I'm trying to say is... Well..." He sighed."Why is this so difficult." He lifted his head and stared at me with such seriousness in his crimson eyes that I was almost breathless. "I love ya Shrimp.... I have for a few year now." I blushed bright red at his pink tinted face as he stared at me. I couldn't believe it, he loved me. And we were both going to confess at the dance.... I opened my mouth to speak but only a squeek managed to escape and he laughed, making me blush more. I slapped his chest and turned back to the window, crossing my arms and pouting.

Once he stopped laughing he laid his head back on my shoulder and we were quiet for a long time. I took a deep breath as I finally calmed myself,"I love you too you big jerk..." I muttered quietly. His arms that had finally loosened around my waist tightened again and I looked back at him. I felt my face catch fire as he captured my lips with his. I tensed only for a moment before kissing him back, his lips were incredibly soft and warm. He pulled back softly with a wide grin and I smiled back before turning back to the window and leaning into him.

After another hour of just sitting there, I frowned. I leaned forward and squinted my eyes. "What?" Gajeel asked quietly. I pointed towards the horizon where I could see several black dots. After a few more minute I could see they were helicopters. " We gotta go. Now." I said, hopping off his laugh. We hurried into the main room of the dojo where everyone was talking quietly.

"Choppers coming from the east. If we go now we can probably flag them down." I said. Immediately everyone got up, grabbing what belongings they had and headed for the door. I went first with my gun, Gajeel right behind me. I peeked out the door of the dojo before waving everyone out.

I had this dread feeling in the pit of my stomach that wouldn't leave me as I followed everyone down the streets. We reached a tall radio station and started climbing the fire escape, being as quiet as possible.  I was surprised how quickly and easily Jellal climbed with one arm. I waited at the bottom for everyone to climb, gun at the ready as a zombie lumbered to the front of the ally we were in. The others were making no sound, and yet the zombie stopped and turned towards me. I bit back my gasped as it looked at me, truly looked at me and saw me. And then it let out a screech.

We weren't invisible anymore.
