THE NEXT DAY.

The next day's events weren't very much for Emilia. It was mostly Emilia following Elena and Caroline around during the Mystic Falls Historical Society Volunteer Day. Emilia did feel bad for Caroline because her mom reacted so badly to her being a vampire.

Currently, Emilia walked over to the Salvatore House after being summoned by Damon. Emilia got dressed in a casual t-shirt and sweatpants. Emilia at first thought the walk to Elena's house was long, but after walking to the Salvatore House she was a lot more tired. Emilia knew she had to get a car soon or else she'd be late to everything.

Emilia walked up to the porch and twisted the doorknob, surprised it was unlocked. Damon sees her at the door and calls out to her. "Smarts, I called you an hour ago why did it take you so long to get here?"

Emilia is leaning against the doorframe. "Sorry, it took me an hour to walk here."

"Whatever. Now get in here we need you to confirm some stuff we found."

"Really no hi, hello, or good morning?"

"Fine. Hello get your ass over here now we don't have time for your small talk."

Emilia walks over to Damon, Alaric, and Jeremy who are looking at a book. "Damn. Someone's cranky. What's up?"

Before Damon can respond, Alaric starts telling Emilia what he found. "Ok, there's this Aztec curse apparently and supposedly vampires and werewolves used to roam freely until a shaman put a curse on them to limit their power. Since then, werewolves can only turn on a full moon and vampires are weakened by the sun. Is this true?"

Emilia knew about the true curse. It was really a curse on Klaus but she decided not to tell them. "Yeah, that's all true. What else does it say?"

Alaric continued. "According to the legend, the werewolf part of the curse is sealed with the moonstone. Right?"

"Yep."

"This book also says that a werewolf bite can kill a vampire. Is that true?"

"Yeah and there's no known cure."

Seeing as everything they knew was true, Damon interjected. "Ok enough with storytime. Smarts you're coming with me."

"Ok then," Emilia waves to Alaric and Jeremy, "See you guys!"

Emilia then gets into Damon's car and he tells her the game plan. Damon told Emilia that they would be finding his little brother, Stefan. Once they get to the Lockwood Mansion, they both hopped out of the car and went in their separate ways to find Stefan. Emilia wanders around for a bit outside of the unfamiliar Lockwood Mansion when she gets a text from Damon. Mason Lockwood has moonstone. Come to the front.

Emilia immediately texts back an ok. She walks to the front of the mansion quickly just backtracking her route.

She sees Damon and Bonnie in the middle of a conversation and walks over to them. Bonnie is currently speaking. "That's me giving you an aneurysm. Your blood vessels go pop, but you heal quickly; so, I do it over and over again."

"Is it vampire specific?"

"It'd work on anyone with a supernatural healing ability."

"Good. Good, good."

Bonnie gets defensive. "Damon, I'm not gonna help you hurt him."

"Mason Lockwood's a werewolf, Katherine's evil. They're the bad guys. Really? You're gonna play morality police with me right now? Let me put it to you another way: they're a threat to Elena. So you, witch, are gonna get over yourself and help us."

Stefan walks over to them and Emilia interjects before Bonnie could say no again. "Yeah, he meant that as a question with a "please" on the end."

Bonnie looks to Emilia judgingly. "Who even are you?"

"I'm Emilia. Nice to meet you!"

Stefan looks at her confusingly. "Damon, who is she? She could be working for Katherine."

Emilia defends herself. "Trust me I'm not. Katherine can go suck it after she kidnapped me. I'm just here to help."

Stefan looks at her in disbelief. "Wait how did you escape?"

"Well she didn't compel me to stay or anything so once she was gone I ran for my life."

Damon once again decides to end the small talk with a rude, uninterested attitude. "Great. Let's get back to the task at hand. Bonnie, Emilia, you guys get Mason."

Bonnie and Emilia agree then walk over to a truck and try to remove a table. Mason sees them struggling and runs in to help them. "Hey, do you guys need any help?"

Bonnie answers. "Yeah. All the guys bailed on us. Something about draft picks. I don't know, I don't speak that language."

"Here, let me give you a hand."

Once Mason grabs the table, Bonnie starts to give him an aneurysm. Mason grabs his head and falls to his knees in pain. Bonnie apologizes aloud to Mason. However, in Emilia's head, she doesn't feel sorry whatsoever. When she realized that she was scared her shitless.

Stefan grabs the keys to Mason's car from his pocket and throws them to Damon. Bonnie gets in the front seat and Emilia got into the back seat while Stefan and Damon put Mason's body in the trunk. Then, Emilia, Bonnie, and Damon leave the Lockwood Mansion and drive to the Salvatore Boarding House.

Once they get to the Salvatore Boarding House, Damon grabs Mason while Emilia grabs Mason's bag. Damon puts Mason in a chair near the fireplace. Emilia drops his bag in a chair near Damon. "Here you go."

Damon ignores her. "Okay, Bonnie grab that corner."

Bonnie replies annoyed. "Why are we doing this?"

"Because I don't want to stain the carpet."

"I knew you were gonna say something like that."

"Judging again."

Damon and Bonnie put a blanket over the rug while Emilia is sitting on the couch watching. Damon walks over to his bag and starts to rummage through it but stops when Bonnie points out that Mason won't be out for long. Damon pulls out chains from Mason's bag. "Whoa. Looks like this guy's used to being tied up."

Emilia sarcastically replies. "Kinky."

Bonnie and Damon look at Emilia with a look that said seriously. "What? C'mon, don't tell me you weren't thinking about it."

Bonnie takes Mason's head in her hands. "What are you doing Bonnie?"

Bonnie responds. "You're looking for a moonstone. I'm trying to help you find it."

"Oh, good, yeah. Find out if he gave it to Katherine, and find out where she is. And find out what they're gonna do with it once they get it."

Damon ties Mason down to a chair. While Bonnie closes her eyes and focuses on finding the moonstone. Bonnie finds something. "It's somewhere small. dark. There's water."

Emilia interjects. "Like a sewer?"

Bonnie replies. "No. Like a well? That can't be right. Yeah. It's a well."

"Why would it be in a well?"

Bonnie stops looking and opens her eyes. "I told you, Damon, I only get what I get."

Mason suddenly grunts and grabs Bonnie's wrist tightly. Damon pulls Mason's hand off of her and Bonnie walks away. "That's it. That's all I got."

Damon shouts at Bonnie as she's about to leave. "Hey, judgey!"

Bonnie turns around and looks at him. "Thank you."

Bonnie leaves and Emilia gets up to follow her to help find the moonstone. However, Damon looks at Emilia before she goes. "Hey Smarts, can you stay?"

"Why would I need to stay? You're just going to torture the guy."

"Well, Smarts. You say you know a lot about the supernatural so let's see who can torture a werewolf the best."

Emilia paused for a moment. She couldn't believe what she was being asked to do. She was being asked to torture a werewolf. She didn't know how to react.

One side of her, the good side, was telling her not to torture Mason and just leave. Her good side was telling her not to do this and become like Klaus. She knew that she shouldn't and couldn't do this to someone.

However, another part of her, a very small part was telling her to beat Damon and feel the rush of being in control. Currently, in Emilia's life, she was in control of nothing and she was furious about it. She did whatever Klaus said even though they were supposed to be friends or she did what the Scooby Gang said to keep her cover. Emilia wanted to be in control of her decisions and of herself. Plus Emilia was feeling competitive and it's not like she couldn't beat Damon. She had seen enough glimpses of Klaus torturing people over the summer to know his methods.

In the end, the small bad part of her that wanted to beat Damon and feel in control won. She gave in to the darkness and agreed to stay. Even though she didn't know why she'd even have this voice nagging to do something bad. What got her out of her thoughts was the sound of Damon punching Mason. "Come on. Wake up, wolf boy."

"When he wakes up Damon you can go first then I'll show you how it's done."

Damon walks over to the fireplace and places an iron poker in, heating it up. "You'll see Smarts. I've been alive for more than 100 years and you've barely been alive 17.

Soon after, Mason shoots up in his chair wide awake. He looks down to see that he is chained down. Mason tries to get out of the chair but he can't. Damon sarcastically quips. "Someone's feisty."

Mason keeps thrashing and causes the chair to fall backward onto the floor. Damon shoves an iron poker into Mason's chest causing him to scream and blood to go everywhere. Luckily for Emilia, she was sitting outside the splatter zone.

Damon looks at Mason seeing the wound disappear. "Oh, but you heal quickly. Not good. Guess I'll just have to keep applying pain."

Damon grabs Mason and pulls him back up with the chair. He walks back over to the fireplace and heats up the poker. Damon asks Mason a question. "So...Katherine. How do you know her? What is she up to?"

Emilia sighs knowing he's not going to respond to Damon's torture. Damon realizing Mason won't talk, shoves the poker into Mason's stomach causing Mason to scream.

Damon asks Mason again. "When did you two meet? Did she seduce you, tell you she loved you? You're supernatural so she can't compel you. I'm sure she used her other charms. Katherine's good that way."

Emilia interjects bored with what's going on. "You realize he's not going to answer."

Before Damon could reply Jeremy comes into the room with a box. "I found something in Ric's box of stuff."

"Ooh. What is it?"

"I did a search on my phone. It's a plant. Aconitum Vulparia. It grows in the mountainous areas of the northern hemisphere. Commonly known as aconite, blue rocket, and wolfsbane."

Emilia walks over to where Jeremy is. Damon opens the cloth and looks at the wolfsbane. "What else did you read?"

"Well, every source says something different. One myth says it causes lycanthropy, which sounds bogus. Another one says that it protects people and another one says, well, it's toxic."

Emilia gets up and grabs the wolfsbane. "Ding, ding, ding. We have a winner. My turn."

Emilia walks up to Mason holding up the plant. "What's Katherine doing in Mystic Falls?"

Mason doesn't answer. Emilia brushes the end of the wolfsbane across Mason's cheek. It begins to burn and Mason screams. Jeremy begins to look uncomfortable and asks. "Emilia, you're human! Why would you do this?"

Emilia doesn't respond to Jeremy, ignoring him and looks at Mason pulling the wolfsbane away. She smirks liking, the feeling of being in power, in control of her choices and her life. She liked how she could get him to do anything. Mason looks at her. When he looks at her, he suddenly almost becomes scared for his life and starts fidgeting backward. He screams accidentally. "Your eyes!"

Everyone looks at her in shock with Damon and Jeremy taking notice. Emilia stops smirking almost like she broke out of a trance and she looks at her reflection in the light seeing that everything was normal. "What are you talking about?"

Mason responds. "I thought they were red I swear."

Emilia didn't know what the hell was happening to her. One week ago, Emilia chose to let one person die to survive and killed another out of self-defense. Now, she tortured someone despite it not being for very long. She couldn't believe herself and was confused and upset by everything going on. While lost in her thoughts, Damon grabs the wolfsbane from Emilia and continues to torture Mason using Emilia's methods.

Emilia drains out the rest of their conversation and doesn't pay attention until Jeremy taps her telling her to leave. Emilia walks out of the room with Jeremy and asks him. "Jeremy oh my god what is happening to me?"

"I don't know Emilia."

"Tell me the truth. Were my eyes red?"

"Yea they were for a second or two, but then they went back to normal."

Emilia gets extremely angry about everything that's going on in her life. For a split second, her eyes turn red again. However, Jeremy puts his hands on his shoulders and tells her to calm down. She calms down and her eyes turn back to normal.

She and Jeremy don't get much time to chat because Jeremy gets a call from his sister, Elena, telling him to come home for dinner. Emilia told Jeremy to go and that she'd hold up the fort here.

After Jeremy leaves, Emilia walks back into the living room and Damon notices her. "Hey Red come over here and help me with the body."

"Two things. First can't you do it yourself Mr. vampire and secondly, why did you call me Red? I just got used to you calling me smarts."

"Well Red your eyes did that thing were they became red, hence the nickname."

Emilia rolls her eyes at his response. Stefan arrives holding up a moonstone that looked like a bar of soap. "All this for that."

"Yep." Stefan tosses Damon the moonstone. "I see you've exercised your usual restraint," Stefan looks seeing that Emilia is still there, "and seriously you dragged an innocent human girl into helping you torture."

"Well, Stef, she won a torture competition so she's hardly innocent."

Emilia interrupts. "Why would I want to win and how did I even win?"

"Well Red you're the one who showed me the best way of getting information out of werewolf, AKA wolfsbane." Damon walks over to Mason's bag and texts Carol on behalf of Mason. "Carol, big opportunity in Florida, I'm gonna be gone for a long time. Will send for my things once I get settled. Much love, Mason"

Stefan is confused by everything going on with this new girl and her lack of morals for a human. He proceeds to go pick up the body. "Let's get rid of the body."

"Oh, the last number dialed. I wonder who that could possibly be?"

Damon dialed and Emilia interjects scared at what might happen next. "Damon, that's not a good idea!"

Katherine answers the call thinking it's Mason. Damon and Katherine talk and Damon pisses her off. After the call, Emilia decides to head home. However, Emilia didn't have a car and no one could take her home so she had to walk the hour back home or stay at Hotel Salvatore. Emilia was scared because it was nighttime but decided against staying because she didn't have anything there. Emilia ran home because of the dark. She got there in under twenty minutes running thanks to her football training and natural athleticism. The run was also good because it allowed her to clear her head about whatever happened with her eyes earlier that day.

Once she got home, her phone ringed with a call from Klaus. She answered it.

"Hey Klaus"

"Hello Em, what happened today?"

At the start of her run, Emilia decided not to tell Klaus about her eyes changing colors because frankly, she didn't want to know the truth. She knew she should feel guilty about what she had done. That's all she felt. She felt guilty because she knew it was wrong. The saying Ignorance is Bliss was true for Emilia. If she was supposed to not feel guilty, then she didn't know what she'd do because she knew that she should be better than someone like Klaus who doesn't feel remorse. Emilia had a lot of conflicting feelings about everything going on in her life.

Nonetheless, she decided to push down her problems and bottle up her feelings until it was necessary. She decided to not talk about the crazy possibility that she may not be human. She was going to talk about what Klaus wanted to hear, not her own problems because despite what he says about them being friends, Emilia was scared that if she did one thing wrong then she would be killed or be used more by Klaus than she already felt. She also didn't think that Klaus would care about her problems and didn't trust him to lead her in the right direction because of his own monstrous deeds.

"Well we figured out the town werewolf was working for Katherine, so Damon Salvatore killed him. They found the moonstone. There was also a torture competition."

"Did you win?"

"Seriously Klaus!"

"What! I want to know!"

"Ok, I may have won BUT only because Damon didn't know that wolfsbane harmed werewolves and honestly I feel pretty bad about it."

Klaus could tell Emilia was lying on the last part. "Em, tell me the truth because you know I don't care whichever side you say but when you were torturing him, how did you feel? Not how you should feel but how did you feel?"

Emilia decided to tell the truth about how she felt about it just one time. "I felt powerful."

She ended the call.
