I climb out of the truck after Dario parks in the driveway. He, too, climbs out. I cock my head and he shrugs.
"Kellin said Morris had a bad day today."
"Oh."
"He said I can stay here tonight. Any objections?"
I shake my head, but inside, I'm nodding furiously.
Do I have an issue with Morris abandoning fatherly duties to sob about his wife and daughter that burned in a house fire years ago?
Kind of.
Do I have an issue with Dario staying over?
No.
Do I have an issue with Dario sleeping in the room next to mine?
Yes.
Zach and Kellin don't suspect anything between Dario and I, but why would they?
He's the boy who can get any girl he wants, but refuses. He looks for every type of girl but me. I am the one girl he doesn't look at. If that is because I know his secrets, or if it's because he views me as a sister, I'll never know.
One thing I am sure of is that the man walking in front of me will never be mine.
"We're home!"
Zach calls out from the kitchen.
"Good to see you, Rio. Thanks for getting her home safely."
"Thanks for the warning."
"The guest room hasn't been touched since last time you stayed. All your clothes are still strewn everywhere."
"Why fix it? This place is like my second home."
I skirt around him, approaching the steps. Kellin appears at the top, stopping me. His hair is sticking up in every direction.
"How was your day?"
"Clearly not as productive as yours."
He laughs at my stab and I just smile, shaking my head.
"You guys are unbelievable."
"Age is just a number."
"Don't even continue that sentence. I know where you are going and I'm not in the mood to bleach my brain."
"I wasn't going to say anything inappropriate."
"Somehow, I doubt that."
I slip into my room, grabbing clothes to change out of the prison-like school uniforms.

And we can't forget about Kellin and Zach!
Thoughts on them?
