Prologue - Welcome To The Glade
Bang!
The girl sat up in a panic. She would've liked to say it was because the metal cage she was trapped in started moving. That was not the case however. She got hit in the head. How remarkable.

Wait. A metal cage?! How on earth did she get stuck in a metal cage? Had she been turned into a zoo animal? But there was nothing around. Mostly darkness and lights reminding her of hospitals were plastered on the concrete walls outside.

The rustling echoing between the walls only got worse and worse the longer she'd been there, after a while, she had to cover her ears.

After what felt like hours but could've very well been a few minutes, the cage went into a sudden stop and the girl immediately tumbled to the floor and landed in a corner. She quickly crawled away however when she heard a loud grunt. Was that a bloody pig? The girl didn't want to know the answer and therefore made the decision not to look and placed herself in the opposing corner.

She studied her surroundings a bit more. The cage was mostly filled with heavy-looking boxes, the word 'WICKED' painted on it in white, capital letters with an industrial font.

An ear-piercing screech rang out over the young girl and she thought that it would most definitely cause her hearing problems. A sudden light erupted and she immediately covered her eyes.

Wouldn't want to get problems with my vision right after receiving hearing loss.

She thought to herself as she slowly and carefully looked up. The light faded ever so slightly and she was finally able to make out silhouettes of humans. They looked to all have masculine builds and be quite tall.

So they're very likely grown men or at the very least a group of teenage boys. Lovely.

A loud thump was heard and a boy appeared a meter or so ahead of her. They carefully took in each other's appearances. He seemed to be of average height, he had dark, messy hair and a tan skin colour. His eyes were dark yet welcoming and he wore an overall calm expression on his features.

"Winston? What's taking so long?" A fairly deep, male voice spoke above them. He sounded excited. "Yeah, just bring the shank up already." Another, higher voice spoke but it was still a guy.

Have they killed all the girls that arrived? Or are there just no girls in this place? Or maybe they're just in the back of the group?

Her thoughts were interrupted when the boy in front of her - Winston - called up. "It's a girl. We'll be up in just a minute!"

"A girl?"
"She hot?"
"I call dibs!"

Many more things were said but Winston started speaking to her instead. "Hello, I'm going to help you get out of the Box okay? And I'm Winston. Do you remember your name already?" He said it carefully and ever so gently as he stuck out a welcoming hand.

She studied him while he spoke but her heart almost stopped at the last sentence and salty tears were immediately brought to her eyes. Her name. What was her name? Every time she tried to pull it out of her brain, nothing appeared. In fact, nothing appeared when she tried to recall anything of what had happened before she woke up. Everything was just like a cloud.

It was like she could remember certain parts of memories. She could remember reading a book with a boy, but not remembering his face or his name. She could remember drawing another boy, this one definitely much younger, but not his face or which name she signed the drawing with. She could remember sitting in a cafeteria with at least 70 people but not any names or faces. It was like those parts of her memories had just disappeared into thin air. And that also included her own name.

"Hey, hey. It's okay. We all go through this." He sounded so kind, so gentle, but the girl couldn't help but hide her eyes behind a thick curtain of dirty blond curls.

He let her be and collect herself and she could hear the boys above start complaining about the amount of time it took.

After a few minutes, another thump was heard and another boy entered her vision. This one was taller and had dirty blonde hair, just like her, but a little darker. His eyes were also deep brown, just like Winston's, but in a different way. They were much warmer and familiar somehow.

"Are you okay?" He spoke differently than Winston. He sounded much more... fancy? But still soft and gentle. He seemed to be used to speak to scared kids with no memory.

Anyway, that was when she finally dared to look out a little from behind her hair again so that the two boys in front of her could see her properly.

That gave him the answer he needed. This girl was clearly not okay. Who was in the Glade? But she was different from every other Greenie so far. Not only because she was a girl, but also because she seemed frightened like no other had been. She did have this calculating aura however, and the blonde boy realised she had probably figured her uniqueness out already.

"Newt, seriously, this is seriously starting to get boring. Just get her out already!" A whiny voice was heard from above. This was at least the fourth time the same guy had said something along those lines.

The blonde boy who was apparently called Newt, whatever kind of name that was, raised to his feet and gave the boy an angry look.

"Just shuck off and go do your job. All of you!" They eventually left one after one but Newt added one other thing: "Besides Stephen, we might need a med-jack here."

Newt turned his attention back to the girl. "Think you're ready to go up now?" He smiled at her again and held out his hand, just like Winston did. Oh yeah, his hand was still outstretched. She did feel kind of bad about it but he could've just chosen to take his hand back, it's not a big deal.

She nodded slowly and grabbed Winston's hand with her left one and Newt's with her right. And it felt like what she imagined getting shot felt like.

"Aurora." She said the name cautiously, as to making sure it wouldn't leave her mind again.
"What?" The two boys in front of her asked in sync, confused.
"My name. It's Aurora."
"Well then, Aurora, welcome to the Glade."

I impulsively posted the already written prologue since there will definitely be no change to it but now it'll probably be a while until the rest is posted :/
