Nepal Tourism

Tourism is an activity in which a person visits different places, whether within or outside his country, for pleasure, entertainment, adventure or to learn new things about the place they are visiting. Nepal is a naturally beautiful country, well-gifted by nature, history as well as religion. So, it is only natural for Nepal to be one of the tourist attractions of the world.

Nepal has very wide prospects of tourism. Due to the natural beauty of our country, historical sites, unique cultures and rare plants and animals found in our nation, many internal and international tourists visit Nepal each year. Tourists come to Nepal to sight-see, climb mountains, study about cultures, plants and animals, raft, hike, trek, bungee jump, etcetera according to their preferences.

Nepal can enjoy many advantages because of tourism industry. She can earn foreign currencies off of it. The tourists buy goods, trinkets and other native articles of our country as a souvenir of their visit. As a result, the cottage industries that produce these articles get benefitted. Many people of our country get employed due to businesses related to tourism. The tourists want to stay in hotels and lodges that provide quality services. Hence, to ensure quality services, the staffs of such places are paid well, which helps to increase their living standard. When tourists stay in homestay services, they get to observe the beauty of local cultures and traditions and taste local food, that have more of a natural and home-made feel to them as they are prepared by the locals only, which accounts for a more vivid experience compared to hotel stays.

Similarly, tourism also creates employment opportunities as guides are needed, along with accommodation services, for the tourists to enjoy all the wonders of the place they are in, for they, themselves aren't fully aware of all these places. If the tourists like what they see and experience during their stay, they may even recommend our country to their friends and family, which aside from serving them as a destination for enjoyment, also turns out to be beneficial for our country, for the same reasons as mentioned above. Not only that, sharing of cultures and traditions would take place as well, which will help to encourage friendship and brotherhood between countries. It will also help to spread the name and fame of our country.

Tourism is not all advantageous for our country, though. There are some advantages of it as well. Some tourists may be a carrier of infections and communicable diseases, which they may spread among us knowingly or unknowingly. Also, because of tourism, beautiful places of our country are being polluted. Even the highest peak of the world, i.e. Mount Everest or Sagarmatha, as it is popularly known in our country, is not left untouched by pollution. Also, some tourists may commit crimes while in our country, or may have committed crimes and escaped to our country, both of which are not favorable conditions for any country to be in.

Tourism is very important for Nepal as it helps in the economic development of our country by increasing the revenue of the government and by various other ways. So, to promote it, Nepalese government should take care of the places in our country which are favored by tourists and also those places which have the appeal to be. They should be able to provide quality services and facilities to the tourists and encourage tourism industries through various schemes. If they are able to do so, then, Nepal tourism is sure to flourish.
