Claire soon answered a phone call, talking to Lowery, who was definitely one of my favorite teachers. Eventually, Uncle Owen stopped paying attention, so Zach took hold on my hand once more and whispered in my ear.
"Your uncle is fucking terrifying." I tried to hold in my laughter as we followed Gray, Ms. Dearing and my uncle.
"What do you mean 'use the raptors'?" I heard Claire question, making both my uncle and I turn to face her. They couldn't use the raptors for this. Not Echo, not Blue, not Delta, not Charlie. I won't let him lay a finger on them.
"Son of a bitch." My uncle cussed as I ran up to him.
"Mr. Hoskins?" I clarified.
"The bitchiest son of a bitch there is."
"You shouldn't say bitch or bitchiest." Gray scolded.
"Take the kids, and take them some place safe." My uncle instructed Ms. Dearing. We all turned around in sync, creepily before the gate burst open and we started sprinting down to the car, where Ms. Dearing and my uncle sat in the front seat and Zach sat in the middle. "Wait, uh, uh, uh..." My uncle pointed towards Zach, even mid crisis. "Switch with your brother." He warned, making me hide my face in my lap, laughing. Gray was also laughing while Zach sadly moved to the other side and Gray sat in the middle. Immediately, we took off, driving backwards.
"You got this, you got this!" Zach repeated while Gray screamed, "GO, GO, GO!" In the end, they both turned out saying 'drive' multiple times. I knew my uncle could do this, and I knew that they could be adding pressure so I said nothing. As the car thudded to a stop at a haste against the gate, Ms. Dearing and Gray hit the back of their seats.
"This does not feel safe." Zach calmly stated.
"Can we stay with you?" Gray asked out loud.
"I am never leaving you as long as you live." Ms. Dearing responded with a sigh showing a sign of relief.
"No, no, him." Both Zach and Gray corrected her, making me smirk and laugh. As I sat behind my uncle, I leaned forward and whispered to him.
"Yeah, definitely him." Gray said the last words as the car stayed silent.
"I think you turned them." I joked, trying to lighten the mood between him and I as he started the engine once again.
"Don't think you're off the hook." My uncle said, looking at me. "Who is he and how long has that been going on?" I leant back in my chair, refusing to answer as a blush appeared on my cheeks.
"Where are we going?" Gray asked from the middle.
"The raptors."
