You've been working on trying to find out what the darned documents mean for about a week now and every time you seem to get close to the answer, another stupid half cup of sugar blocks you from it, so you decided that you no longer like half-cups because they're just so infuriating. You spend days cooped up in the room, leaving only when the library closes. You don't even leave for food, instead, you simply ask the bodyguards... You mean.. Uhm... Military workers to go and fetch you some so you can ensure that your work does not get overshadowed by something as silly  as food. Edward ended up sleeping about a quarter of the time, leaving you and Alphonse to do the actual work for him. you were getting more and more frustrated by the hour... Scratch that. The minute because this was just getting ridiculous!

You had suppressed the urge to flip the table for about the third time now  when the door burst open to reveal none other than Shezka. Your eyes widened in surprise as you asked in a slightly sore voice "Shezka? What are you doing here?" The brown haired woman simply smiled as she replied with "I just wanted you three to know that with the money you gave me I was able to put my deathly ill mother into a great hospital!" Her eyes lit up with excitement and gratitude as she told you this good news. You smiled softly at her "That's great, Shezka. That really is great." She beamed at you and Alphonse gave a small chuckle. As you were engaging in some small talk, the door once again flew open, this time revealing a friendly, familiar face.

"Hughes!" Ed grinned as the lieutenant colonel shut the doors behind him. "Yo, what's up, Elrics?" He said easily and you giggled softly before replying, telling him what you were doing. He smiled with interest as you were talking, totally disregarding Shezka's existence all the while. After you were done summarizing all that you were doing, Hughes went on to tell his side. He said something along the lines of "Blah blah blah library burning down blah blah blah records missing blah blah screwed up everything blah blah blah" You really weren't paying attention to his babbling, but Alphonse was. He looked from Hughes to Shezka and back again. You could basically hear the smirk on his non-existant face as he said

"Well, I think I know somebody who can help you, Hughes." Hughes perked up at this remark. "What?" He questioned "Who can help me with this?" Edward seemed to have tuned into this idea, leaving the girls, and Hughes confused. The brothers both looked at Shezka in unison.

The brown haired woman pointed to herself as she exclaimed in utmost shock "ME?!"  You finally tuned in and grinned. You explained to Hughes that Shezka has an amazing memory, and if she had read the files than she would be able to copy them all down!

Hughes's eyes lit up in excitement "You can help me in my military job should you choose to!" Shezka was at a loss for words so Alphonse stepped in for her "She would absolutely love that, Mister Hughes!" Hughes grabbed her by her wrist and chortled as he went out of the room. Shezka was protesting all the way, saying that she could walk on her own and that dragging was not necessary!

You giggled and told the boys "Hughes looks like a kidnapper while doing that" Alphonse snorted before joining you in laughter. The laughter helped break down the tension and stress and annoyance in the room, and soon enough all three of you were laughing yourselves silly before Al finally straightened up, and sighed once to bring him all the way down from his laughing high. He pointed out that you still need to figure out what in the world the documents meant, and you groaned, and breathed more air out of your nose than necessary at that thought.

You ended up bailing and going out for dinner alone, tired of being cooped up in that small room. On the way, you saw the usual big-city things that you stopped. A couple of kidnappings got interrupted by you. You beat the crap out of an obviously drunk man who tried to ram you up against a wall and do the unspeakable with you. You broke up a fight between two small children who were raising their fists threateningly at one another. Yep, just a normal evening for Y/N.

You stopped in at your favourite restaurant. Lucky for you, like the modern-day McDonald's, they had your restaurant all over the place, so you never had to worry about them not having it. You ordered your usual meal and a drink to go with it. You usually tried to eat slightly healthy, but that never really worked out.

You tipped your waiter generously, and then made your way out of the restaurant, and went back to the library, not nearly  as much commotion this time as last, but hey, it's a big city. You can never be sure about the people there.

As you sat down at your chair inside your study room, you picked up your pen and tapped it against your chin a few times before scribbling a few things down on your notes paper, and picked out a promising looking book. You skimmed a few pages before making a few more notes. This was getting easier and easier by the day. You smiled to yourself because soon the secrets would be unlocked and you could marvel in its glory.
