DORA'S POV
I've been crying endless ever since mom dropped me and left for the airport. Any time I close my eye to sleep, Kelvin just keeps filling my head and my cry restarts again.
I wonder the jazz wey this boy don do for my head.
The worst part is that the idiot kept calling my number repeatedly. He should better leave me alone and follow that yeye girl called Yemi Tope.
That's when I made up my mind that Kelvin wasn't worth anything, not even my tears, so I raise my head up to see some one. She had smooth brown skin, her eyes were so charming (abeg I'm not gay oh), she didn't even wear much makeup but yet, and her hair?. The scent of her perfume was mighty and she looked like a rich girl, she was honestly beautiful. This most be Ebube.
"Hi" drawing her attention to me. I feel embarrassed that she found me in this state.
"Hi" turning to me with a small smile. Her American accent was sweet to the ears.
"I'm sorry you had to meet me like this" Cleaning my eyes dry.
"Yeah it's cool. Aunty Tessy said I'll be lodging with you. So where's the bed?" Her eyes scanning my room.
"No we can sleep on the same bed, is it not big enough?" She didn't look fat and it would contain the both of us.
"Ohw" She responded dryly.
The door opened and Musa came in dropping five gorgeous pink big boxes. I wonder the things in that box because Musa was sweating like nonsense.
"Next time Musa, you knock" His fund of doing annoying things.
"Abeg no vex, just that all these bags no gree me long my hand knock" he turned to Ebube who just stared "Oyibo, see your things oh" leaving my room. Ebube didn't seem to understand, she has a lot to learn.
"I'm sorry I didn't introduce myself, I'm Dora" my hands stretched and a friendly smile on my face.
"I'm Ebube, but please call me Ebu" accepting my hand and returning a smile. This girl is fine oh.
"Sure, how was your flight"
"It was okay, although the flight attendants were so pissing" I repeat, her accent is sweet to the ear.
"Leave those people, they can be senseless. Sorry for that though"
"It's okay" laughing at my statement.
Her phone started buzzing and she began to search the pockets of her jeans. My eyes almost fell out when she brought out the latest iPhone, iPhone SE. Jesus!!
Her gaze was taken away from me down to her phone as she started to smile at what she was looking at, me I'm still here using Tecno spark 4.
Some times life no just balance.
Since she don commot phone, me to I follow. Forty missed calls from Kelvin. Mtchewww.
"Girls!, dinner is ready..... your food will get cold oh" Mom called.
I quickly ran to the bathroom to wash my face with water so mom wouldn't notice I had been crying and start asking questions.
"Ebu lets go an eat"
"Okay" Shooting a smile as she followed me out of the room.
The smell of my mothers sweet jellof rice filled the air. I trust her na.
"Mrs Tessy this looks delicious, my mom makes these for us in Canada" Ebube said, looking at the rice with glee, make she taste am first.
I thought they were two, where is the Chisom?.A small girl, not that small sha, instantly walked in, her eyes on her phone. She had the same phone as Ebube. The girl has fine brown skin, a pretty face, full lips, and again the hair? I admired how she got her eye liner at the edge so well. That most be Chisom.
"Oh My Gush!, were eating jellof" the girl squealed as she dropped her phone and took a seat.
"Chisom" I called, as if I've known her my whole life.
"And you are?" with this do I know you kinda face.
"I'm Dora"
"I'm Chisom, but everyone calls me Chi"
"Lie" Ebube responded, making me laugh and Chisom sending glares at us.
"So mom, where is dad?"
"He's still at work" her face becoming worried. I always wonder how somebody will be working from morning till this time in the evening. Even on Saturday it's one excuse or the other. The day they sac him, me I go happy.
Everyone was enjoying the rice, even Chisom and Ebube. I was happy they liked my moms cooking.
"Ehhen, Chisom and Ebube" mom said, gaining every ones attention.
"I know you think leaving Canada will halt you from going to school, but your parents and I discussed and made some few arrangements. You'll be attending Rosevelts High School from now on, payments has been made and I'll hand you your uniforms tonight"
"Where going to school in Nigeria?" Chisom asked widening her eyes. I can tell this one is a sharp mouth.
"That's quick" Ebube muttered to herself, but I could hear her because I sat right next to her.
It would be so cool if Ebube attends my school and even cooler if she ends up in my class. Yemi go know say her own American accent na fake.
The school would suit them because it was a rich people school, even if my parents weren't so wealthy like the parents of my peers, they still managed the pay the huge fee.
"Don't worry you'll love it" giving an assuring smile.
I noticed mom kept glancing at the wall clock because dad hasn't showed up and I was starting to assume things like, accident or may be police has arrested him.
That's when the door opens and my father comes in looking all stressed.
"Darling" Mom running to give in a huge, thank goodness he's home. He didn't even glance at the dining to see Chisom and Ebube or even me. He walked straight to his bedroom, mom carrying his suitcase along.
"Is that your dad?" Chisom asked, now on her phone.
This pikin like phone, how old she be sef
"Yes he is " I sighed.
