I woke up the next morning and Soul was half naked, sleeping next to me. I stared at him for what felt like forever. This was the first time I've actually looked at his scar. I smiled before pushing his hair out of his face. He woke up but his eyes weren't open. "Thanks for yelling at me last night." I whispered.
"That's something I would've never thought I was going to hear." He says, voice raspy and trying to open his eyes all the way as he was giving a wide grin.
"I'm going on my run." I got out bed and made my way into the closet to find some clothes. I changed into a black sports bra and black leggings. I put my hair back into a pony tail before putting on my shoes.
"Through the front door right?" Soul calls out to me as he was still laying in my bed.
"Yes, through the front door." I laughed coming back into the bedroom.
I had ran around and was making my way to the fountain. I wanted to sit before making my way back to the apartment to get ready for class. But Gray was waiting for me when I got there.
"I had a feeling you would stop here." He was sitting on the side when I had stopped running. He didn't look himself. He was pale and one of his eyes was red.
"Are you okay?" I didn't taken my eyes off of him as he began to get closer to me.
"Come on, Maka. Let's go find our missing friends." His smile grew bigger and he definitely wasn't himself. Something was growing on his neck, it was black with a pink jewel in the middle of it.
"I don't think that's a good idea." I tried to back up away from him when he turned his arm into his scythe that was now wrapped around me.
"Maka! Look out!" Eric came in holding Clay in his Weapon form about to attack Gray. He pushed me into a building window. The glass shattered as I fell onto my back, hitting my head onto the ground. I was covered in glass.
Stein and my Dad showed up and were trying to get a hold of Gray onto a gurney. We had to get him to the infirmary before he hurt himself or one of us.
Dad had walked over to me. I was still laying on the ground covered in glass. I didn't want to move. Everything was blurry and I didn't want to get cut anymore. I already had enough scars. He walked up to me, lending out a hand for me to grab.
'Maka? Are you okay?' Anna asked filling my head as Dad and I started to run and follow after the others into the infirmary of the Academy.
'I'm fine. Could you bring my school stuff along with a change of clothes? I'm at the Academy with Dad.' I didn't want her to worry or have anyone else worry. Thankfully, the situation was handled.
"What happened to you?!" Anna met me int he girl's locker room. I had just gotten out of the hot shower and wrapped myself in a white towel. She was exposed to all of the fresh cuts I got from all of the glass.
"Gray got possessed and attacked me." I explained to her as I sat down on the bench.
She sat next to me after handing me my school bag that was also filled with new clothes. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine. Eric and Clay were there and they detained Gray until my Dad and Stein showed up. If they weren't there, I was gonna tell you." I wanted her to know that.
Anna let me be as I got ready. I let my hair dry naturally wavy and I only had mascara and eyeliner in my bag, so my makeup wasn't going to very usual. Anna packed me a pair of jeans with my white converse and a red long sleeve oversized red sweater that hung over my shoulder.
Once I had finished getting ready, I met Sid in the hallway. He had given me a note that excused me from class for the day. He wanted me to spend time with Eric and Clay and get to the bottom of what was going on. Something about fresh, young eyes was going to help the case.
I had to tell them exactly what I saw on Gray's neck earlier and how his eye was red. I'm assuming that's how he was possessed and that it was rapidly growing.
"Hey, I thought you would be in here." Anna walked in with a giant smile on her face. I could tell she was lost today without me. Let alone, I knew something was wrong too. Usually she talks to me more during the day, but something was up and I needed to talk to her about everything. I haven't really talked to the others much of what has been going on.
Clay and Eric flipped over the giant white board that contained all the notes and information we had on this new witch. It wasn't Medusa it was someone else.
"Yeah, the day is over with already?" I was scratching the back of my head as I was smiling. Did I really lose track of time? Today went by so quickly.
"Yes, school is over." KJ said giving me a look. He didn't know what I was doing with the others, so I guess I deserved the strange look that he was giving me.
"We came to get you so we could start practicing." Anna stood up confidently. She was ready to practice with KJ and for the four of us to continue our SoulResonance journey.
It didn't hit me until now that I was super sore from this morning. I haven't even had the chance to talk to Soul about what happened either. "I don't feel up to practicing today." I said starring at my feet. My hair hid my face pretty well. It was getting super long and I wasn't sure if I was ready to cut it or not.
"That's alright. KJ and I are going to practice still, so we can meet you back at home, later." Anna gave me a reassuring smile. She could read me so easily. She also gave me the opportunity to talk to Soul and now I really didn't have an excuse to talk to him about what happened.
"Let's go home then." Soul picked up by bag from the chair behind me and put it over his shoulders before holding out his hand for me to grab.
"I'll see you guys later." I said to Eric and Clay as they smiled and waved at the four of us leaving the library.
Soul and I managed to walk to the fountain without saying a word. He began to freak out once he noticed that the building's window was boarded up and no one else was around it. Usually there was a ton of people inside. "Dang, what do you think happened?" He didn't take his eyes off the window.
"I was thrown through it." I didn't want to hide it from him and it was obvious that I was okay, but was he going to be okay with it? Are we kidding? Of course, he wouldn't be okay with this.
"What the hell, Maka?" Soul had turned around to look at me and I just put my head down. I couldn't even look at him because I didn't know what was going to happen next.
"Eric and Clay got there right away." I knew that he was angry. "Gray was waiting for me here, it's like he knew that I was going to be stopping her on my run to take a break. He was possessed like the other students." My eyes were now closed and I didn't know what Soul was going to say. It was hard to tell at this point, I knew I was being a bad partner. "I didn't want you to worry. Stein and my Dad showed up not too long afterwards. Everything is fine, I'm okay. Just more cuts, nothing serious, I'm okay." I babbled on and opened my eyes.
Soul wasn't standing in his spot that I had left him in. There was no sign of him either, so I assumed that he was done listening to me and went back home by himself. I didn't want to go there, so I turned around and headed back to the library where Eric and Clay were.
