The night was lively and filled with laughter. Music blasted through the air, and colorful lights flickered, illuminating the vast resort garden. Ling sat on one of the chairs at the edge of the dance floor, quietly observing the crowd. She held a glass of wine in her hand, occasionally taking slow sips as she watched her fellow actors and CH3 staff immerse themselves in the euphoria of their outing party in Phuket.
Tonight was supposed to be an enjoyable moment for her—a chance to unwind from the exhausting routine of filming and spend time with her colleagues. However, despite the cheerful atmosphere surrounding her, Ling felt a weight pressing on her heart. A lingering thought kept clouding her mind, pulling her focus away from the celebration.
The two-day outing in Phuket had made Ling reluctant to attend in the first place. She had initially tried to find an excuse to skip it. After all, this was an incredibly important time for Orm. According to the doctor’s estimation, Orm was expected to give birth in a week, and Ling felt she should be by her wife’s side, supporting and comforting her.
However, the management had scheduled this event far in advance, and as one of CH3’s valued talents, Ling had little choice but to comply. Despite her reluctance, she ultimately decided to fulfill her obligation. She reassured herself that Orm was staying at her parents’ house while she was away.
Amidst the bustling party, Ling tried to enjoy the night with her coworkers, momentarily pushing aside her worries. The music pounded through the air, and the dazzling lights heightened the party’s vibrance. Ling sat back in her chair, swirling the drink in her hand as she observed the lively scene around her.
Suddenly, a hand tapped her shoulder. Ling immediately turned around to see Best, her assistant, standing beside her with a serious and anxious expression.
"What is it, P’Best?" Ling asked, her eyes filled with curiosity.
Best leaned in, whispering into Ling’s ear so her voice could be heard over the loud music. "Khun Tanakorn just called," She said in a hushed but urgent tone. "Orm has been rushed to the hospital due to intense contractions."
Ling’s heart skipped a beat. Her pulse quickened as she processed the shocking news. "What? Contractions?" she exclaimed, hardly believing what she had just heard. "But Orm wasn’t due until next week!"
Best nodded slightly, sharing Ling’s concern. "I don’t know the full details either, Khun Ling. But right now, Orm is already at the hospital with Mae Koy and Khun Tanakorn."
Without hesitation, Ling placed her glass on the nearest table and stood up abruptly, her face filled with tension. "Find the earliest flight. We need to get back to Bangkok right now," she instructed firmly before striding toward the exit. Best quickly followed behind her, ready to carry out her orders.
As they rushed out of the party area, Ling ran into Namtan, one of her colleagues, who looked puzzled by Ling’s sudden urgency. "Ling, where are you going?" Namtan asked, her brows furrowed in confusion.
"I’m going back to Bangkok," Ling replied briefly, not wanting to waste time explaining. Right now, only one thing mattered—getting to Orm as soon as possible.
Walking swiftly beside Ling, Best immediately pulled out his phone to search for the fastest flight available. However, before moving any further, Ling reminded him, "Best, don’t forget to inform Khun Dew that I’m leaving early. Make sure she understands why."
Best nodded without hesitation. "Of course, Khun Ling. I’ll take care of everything right away."
After ensuring everything was in order, they quickly got into a taxi and headed to the hotel to collect their belongings. The ride was silent, with Ling lost in her thoughts. She could only imagine Orm, possibly in pain and alone while she was miles away.
As soon as they arrived at the hotel, they wasted no time packing their things before rushing to the airport, determined to get back to Bangkok as quickly as possible.
•••••
The delayed flight made Ling anxious. The original plan to arrive in Bangkok on time was completely disrupted due to the postponed schedule, but eventually, she and Best landed safely at Bangkok airport. Wasting no time, they quickly searched for a taxi to take them to the hospital where Orm was. Ling's face was tense, filled with relentless worry throughout the journey.
Upon arriving at the hospital, Ling rushed straight to the delivery room, where Tanakorn, Orm’s father, was already waiting outside with a deeply concerned expression. Seeing Ling arrive, Tanakorn let out a relieved sigh, as if her presence brought a small sense of reassurance in this tense situation.
Ling approached him and asked in an uneasy tone, “How is Orm, Khun Phoo?”
Tanakorn looked at Ling for a moment before answering, “The doctors are examining her inside. She is extremely anxious, and the contractions have been quite intense.”
Ling nodded slowly, trying to grasp the situation Orm was going through. Time seemed to pass so slowly until, finally, the doors of the delivery room opened. A doctor, accompanied by Mae Koy, Orm’s mother, walked toward them. The doctor’s serious expression indicated that there was something important to be conveyed.
“We will need to perform a C-section on Khun Orm,” the doctor said in a calm yet firm tone. “She is carrying twins, and her anxiety is quite severe. A natural delivery could pose a risk. A C-section is the best option in this situation.”
Ling looked at the doctor with pleading eyes, even though she knew the decision had been made in Orm’s best interest. “Please, do whatever is necessary, doctor… I just want Orm and our babies to be safe,” she said, her voice trembling with hope.
The doctor nodded before leaving to prepare for the procedure. Moments later, he returned with a consent form. “Khun Ling, we need your signature to proceed with the C-section,” he said while handing her the form and a pen.
Without hesitation, Ling took the paper and signed it. Her heart pounded as she returned the form, realizing that her signature was a crucial decision for her family’s safety. The doctor gave her a faint reassuring smile before speaking again.
“If you’re willing, Khun Ling, you may accompany Orm in the operating room. Your presence might help her stay calm.”
Without a second thought, Ling agreed. She quickly changed into the sterile attire provided by the nurses, and a few minutes later, she was escorted into the operating room. There, she saw Orm lying down, looking weak but trying to stay strong. When Orm saw Ling approaching, her eyes lit up, though fear was still evident in them. Ling walked closer and held Orm’s hand tightly, offering the support she needed.
“P’Ling…” Orm’s voice was weak, almost a whisper. “I’m scared…” she murmured while gripping Ling’s hand tightly.
“I’m here, Orm. I’ll stay with you,” Ling whispered gently, trying to ease Orm’s anxiety.
Orm nodded slowly, her eyes glistening with tears, but she managed to smile slightly at Ling’s words. She took a deep breath, trying to calm her racing heart.
Soon, the surgeon approached and gave a brief explanation of the procedure. “This C-section will take about an hour, Khun Orm. Don’t worry, we will ensure everything goes smoothly,” the doctor reassured her in a calm voice. Orm nodded again, turning her gaze to Ling, who still held her hand firmly.
As the anesthesia was administered, Orm felt a cold sensation spreading through her lower body. Slowly, she lost all feeling in her abdomen but remained conscious and aware. Even though she couldn’t feel anything physically, the anxiety still gripped her mind. However, every time she looked at Ling beside her, that fear gradually faded away.
The procedure began, and the medical team worked carefully. Though Orm couldn’t feel anything in her stomach, she knew they were doing everything possible to bring her babies safely into the world. Ling, who remained by her side, spoke softly, distracting her from what was happening behind the surgical drape.
“We’ll be seeing our babies’ faces very soon,” Ling whispered, her voice soothing. Orm felt a little calmer. Ling’s words echoed in her mind, giving her strength. A faint smile appeared on Orm’s lips as she imagined their babies’ tiny faces.
Minutes passed, and finally, the first cry of a newborn echoed through the room. Orm’s eyes widened in surprise, searching for the source of the sound. Ling turned to the doctor, and when the doctor lifted a tiny, crying baby, both Ling and Orm’s eyes filled with tears. Their first baby had arrived—a little girl with flushed cheeks and a loud, strong cry.
“Congratulations, Khun Orm. Your first baby has been born healthy,” the doctor announced while handing the baby to a nurse for cleaning.
Orm couldn’t hold back her emotions. Tears of joy rolled down her cheeks. Ling smiled and gently wiped Orm’s face.
Moments later, another cry filled the room. Their second baby, also a girl, was born safely. Her cry was just as strong as her twin sister’s. A deep sense of happiness overwhelmed both Ling and Orm. All the exhaustion, pain, and fear Orm had endured vanished, replaced by an indescribable sense of joy and gratitude.
The two newborns were placed near Orm, and even though she was still on the operating table, she smiled as she looked at her tiny daughters. At that moment, she felt that all her struggles had been worth it.
Ling leaned in, placed a gentle kiss on Orm’s forehead, and whispered, “Thank you, Orm, for everything. You are so strong.” Those words made Orm smile, even as her tears of happiness continued to flow.
The procedure was completed, and the medical team finished their work. The twins were placed in special baby beds and taken to the nursery for further observation. Orm was moved to the recovery room, and Ling stayed by her side, ensuring she was comfortable and at ease.
Ling sat beside Orm’s bed, her eyes filled with concern. Every little movement Orm made heightened her anxiety. Seeing Orm’s pale face, Ling couldn’t stop herself from asking,
“Are you in pain?” she asked softly, her voice filled with worry. She knew Orm had just undergone a major surgery, and now she feared that the effects of the anesthesia were wearing off.
Orm slowly opened her eyes, trying to smile to reassure Ling. “I’m okay, Phi,” she replied weakly. “Just a little headache…” she added, closing her eyes again, hoping the throbbing sensation would soon fade.
Mae Koy, who was sitting on the other side of the bed, smiled gently at Ling, trying to ease her concern. “That’s a normal side effect after a C-section,” Mae Koy explained calmly. “Don’t worry too much, Ling. Everything will return to normal in a few hours.”
Mae Koy’s explanation reassured Ling slightly, but she still kept her worried gaze on Orm. She held Orm’s hand gently, as if trying to offer strength and comfort.
Suddenly, the sound of the door opening caught their attention. Orm, who had been resting, immediately opened her eyes upon hearing approaching footsteps. The dizziness that had been bothering her seemed to disappear the moment she saw a nurse enter the room, pushing a small wheeled baby cart.
The nurse smiled and placed the cart beside Orm’s bed. “Congratulations, Khun Orm,” she said warmly, looking at Orm’s relieved face. “Your babies have been checked, and they are both perfectly healthy.”
Orm’s eyes sparkled as she gazed at the two tiny infants lying peacefully in the cart. Tears welled up again, and Ling, standing beside her, couldn’t hold back a joyful smile. The first baby, lying still, resembled Orm, while the second baby, who occasionally moved her fingers, had features that reminded Ling of herself.
Orm reached out with a trembling hand, gently touching the soft, delicate face of her firstborn. That first touch erased all the pain she had endured. With teary eyes, Orm looked at Ling, and in their gaze, an indescribable happiness was shared.
Tanakorn, who had been quietly observing, finally asked, “Have you decided on names for the twins?”
Ling, who had been admiring their daughters, smiled warmly before answering, “Yes, Khun Phoo.” Her voice was filled with pride. Stroking each baby’s head in turn, she gently said, “Their names are Ratchaya Kwong and Natchaya Kwong.”
The names carried deep meaning, bringing joy to Tanakorn and Mae Koy. Mae Koy nodded with admiration. “Such beautiful names, Ling. They sound soft yet strong.”
Tanakorn, studying the identical faces of his granddaughters, asked with a small frown, “How will you tell them apart? They look exactly the same.”
Ling chuckled. “At first, I was confused too. But after observing them for a while, I noticed that Ratchaya has a small birthmark on her wrist, while Natchaya doesn’t. So if we ever get confused, we just need to check their wrists.”
Today, Ling and Orm’s little family was filled with immeasurable joy. The birth of their twin daughters, Ratchaya and Natchaya, was a beautiful miracle, adding warmth and love to their home.
°°°°°
The sound of a baby's loud cry woke Ling from her sleep. Instinctively, she opened her eyes and sat up straight, even though her body felt exhausted. It had been two months since the birth of the twins, Ratchaya and Natchaya, and since then, she had never felt a truly restful sleep. Every time she heard the sound of their little cries, she would immediately wake up to make sure her babies were okay.
She turned to the side, seeing Orm still asleep with an exhausted expression. Ling knew how tiring it was for Orm to take care of the twins every day. Being careful not to wake her wife, Ling got out of bed and walked over to the baby crib beside their bed.
"Why are you crying, my little ones?" Ling whispered softly, her voice full of affection. She gazed at the tiny faces of Ratchaya and Natchaya, still flushed red. The two babies turned toward Ling, their cries showing no signs of stopping, as if demanding more attention.
Ling let out a small smile as she began checking their diapers. She did it carefully and thoroughly, making sure they were clean and comfortable. After skillfully changing their diapers, she hoped they would calm down. However, their cries still didn’t stop, making Ling sigh tiredly and mumble, "Ah... Are you both hungry?"
She glanced at Orm for a moment. Not wanting to wake her up, Ling walked toward the small fridge in the corner of the room. After giving birth, Orm had made sure to pump breast milk in advance for times like this, when she was too exhausted to wake up. Ling had placed the fridge there so the milk could be stored conveniently, avoiding the need to go back and forth to the kitchen, which was quite far from their bedroom.
Ling opened the fridge and took out two bottles of breast milk that had been prepared. Quickly and efficiently, she warmed them up before returning to Ratchaya and Natchaya, who were still crying. "Alright, it's ready. Let's drink your milk now, my loves."
Ling sat in a small chair beside the crib, carefully offering the bottles—first to Ratchaya, then to Natchaya. After a few seconds, Ratchaya started drinking and slowly stopped crying, her tiny face looking peaceful. However, Natchaya was different—she continued crying, squirming as if rejecting the bottle in front of her.
Ling sighed, gently stroking Natchaya’s head, trying to soothe her. But instead of calming down, her cries grew louder, making Ling even more concerned. Eventually, the sound of Natchaya’s cries reached Orm, waking her from her deep sleep.
Still groggy, Orm opened her eyes quickly and saw Ling sitting beside the crib. "I’m sorry, Phi... I fell asleep," Orm said apologetically, rubbing her tired face. She immediately moved toward Ling and carefully picked up Natchaya from the crib, cradling her in her arms.
Ling looked at her with a gentle smile. "It’s alright, love. You’ve been taking such good care of the twins. You need to rest too," she reassured, rubbing Orm’s arm affectionately.
Orm nodded slowly, though she still felt a bit guilty. "But Phi just got home at dawn after filming... You must be so exhausted," she said, remembering how Ling had spent long hours on set. She then sat in the chair beside Ling and adjusted her top, preparing to breastfeed Natchaya, who seemed to only want to nurse directly from her mother.
Ling simply smiled, watching Natchaya’s face gradually relax in Orm’s arms. Her cries faded into soft sucking sounds as she latched onto Orm, her expression turning peaceful, as if finding the comfort only a mother could provide.
"I don’t feel tired," Ling said warmly, her voice filled with sincerity. She looked at Ratchaya, who was already fast asleep in the crib, breathing steadily with a serene expression. "Any exhaustion disappears the moment I see you and the twins. Seeing you all is a happiness that nothing else can replace."
"P’Ling always knows how to say sweet things," Orm said with a small smile. She gently placed Natchaya back into the crib once she had finished nursing, ensuring her daughter was comfortable and asleep. After making sure both babies were sound asleep, Orm turned back to Ling with a loving gaze. "Go back to sleep, Phi. It’s still only seven in the morning," she softly urged.
Ling gave her a playful smile, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "I’m not sleepy anymore," she replied, leaning in slightly. "Now it’s my turn to drink some milk..."
Orm furrowed her brows, slightly confused by Ling’s words. "Milk? I’ll make you some milk and breakfast, P’Ling," she said, getting ready to stand up.
But before Orm could move further, Ling quickly took her hand and gently pulled her onto her lap. "Not that kind of milk," Ling whispered teasingly, pointing at Orm’s chest with her finger. "I want this milk..."
Orm held back a laugh and lightly patted Ling’s shoulder. "P’Ling!" she whispered, unable to hide the smile forming on her lips. "My C-section stitches haven’t fully healed yet. We can’t do anything right now."
Ling let out a long sigh, looking disappointed before flashing a resigned smile. "Huft... Alright, I understand," she said, pretending to sulk.
Seeing Ling’s playful expression, Orm chuckled softly and cupped her wife’s cheeks. "Once my stitches are better, we can play as much as you want," she said sweetly before giving Ling a soft peck on the lips.
After a few moments, Orm slowly pulled away, gazing at Ling with pure affection. "Get some rest, Phi," she said, gently patting Ling’s cheek. "I’ll prepare your food once you wake up."
Ling nodded in understanding, watching as Orm slowly stood up from her lap. "But don’t overwork yourself or move around too much, okay? I’m worried it might affect your stitches."
Orm smiled and shook her head lightly. "Just cooking and taking care of the twins won’t hurt me, Phi. Besides, we’ve already left all the household chores to the housekeeper since I gave birth, except for cooking and caring for the babies."
After giving Ling one last affectionate smile, Orm carefully walked out of the bedroom. Meanwhile, Ling made her way back to bed, letting her tired body sink into the mattress. Slowly, she closed her eyes, allowing sleep to claim her once again.
